Every detail and part of each recipe served at the restaurant is made from complete scratch, from the pasta and sauces, to the puff pastry and creams in our delicious desserts!
We also serve special dinners off menu which can be reserved in advance, ranging from $37 to $45 per person. These special dinners consist of a family style 3 course meal with an abundant amount of tastings for each course with different tastes of cuisines based on meat, seafood/fish, and vegetarian recipes.
Besides dining in and carrying out, Daniela is also available to cater your special events such as weddings, graduations, birthdays, etc.
Everything was great! Impeccable! We just needed a bigger table for all that we ordered!
We decided to eat outside in a cold evening, and they worked hard at making sure we were comfortable. The food is always good with both standard Italian menu items and unique Sardinian offerings. Always a friendly and personal evening of dining.
Family owned restaurant with incredible food and great service. I highly recommend it!!
Delicious food at reasonable prices. Nice selection of dishes for meat eaters and non meat eaters alike.
The food was excellent and service was very friendly! It seemed staffing may have been an issue as service was a bit slow.
We had a later outdoor reservation but it was such a beautiful evening the early seating group did not leave as planned. The restaurant tried to accommodate us eventually by pulling another table outside in front of another storefront. Staff was apologetic but we were not offered drinks or anything even though we waited more than 30 minutes to be seated. Food was delicious- owner Daniela even made a special dish for my friend. Would love to go back but would like to be seated on time on the great front porch- maybe an earlier reservation??
The food, wine, and ambiance were great. All the pasta dishes were so fresh, and we also shared the burrata appetizer (sooo good) and the crab soup, also delicious. We had panna cotta and the chocolate hazelnut cannoli- definitely recommend both. The only downside was they were short-staffed, which honestly can be expected during these times. It was a busy Sat night and we were glad to see so many eager customers! The staff were apologetic and gracious, so no harm done.
So good. Her pasta is the best. So are her desserts. Amazo. The real deal.
The salmon pasta was flavorless and oily and greasy; the sauce had broke. Just massive amounts of oil - like a half a cup - floating around in curdled cream. The pasta itself was over cooked and the whole thing gave me a massive stomach ache. They forgot my salad and brought it late and it had no dressing. The sfogliatelle was delicious but it took FORTY FIVE MINUTES to prepare. Service was inconsistent and careless. The outdoor porch is beautiful but with the very high prices, poor food, and poor service, I will not be returning. Very disappointing as it has potential.
Very nice location and staff wonderful and accommodating as my daughter is a picky eater and they made something off menu. The food was okay for prices that were pretty steep. I’m bot sure I would come back even though we enjoyed it.
We had a lovely weekend lunch outdoors with friends. As always, the service and food was outstanding and we highly recommend this restaurant.
My green lasagna with funghi was excellent and my husband's saccottini as well. The ambiance is wonderful, in the heart of Hampden, on the porch with a view. The service efficient and friendly, a delightful family restaurant!
Wonderful experience at Daniela’s! One of the few restaurants with homemade pasta and pastries in the DC/Baltimore area, and so far the ONLY one we have found with Gluten-free homemade options. High quality Sardinian food. Very friendly staff. Will definitely return any time we want Italian. Excited to try their lunch menu as well.
Everything was great! Enjoyed the food immensely! The service was great and the decorations out front. Perfect night to sot outside!
As always the food was outstandingly delicious. The restaurant was busy and the wait staff limited so there was a wait for our food. But we sat outside on a beautiful evening and enjoyed watching the humans and canines passing by!!
It was a rainy night, but we sat on the covered porch. It was lovely. The server was extremely attentive. The food was amazing. The dressing on the Caesar salad was addictive. The mushroom lasagna had homemade noodles and was rich and delicious. The only slight miss was the sfogliatelle pastry. It came warmed up. It was cold in the middle. Heating the pastry took away the signature crunch the layers of this pastry should have.
Without a doubt I’m going back to try some of the other pastas.
Homey, friendly, delicious: these are the words that come to mind when thinking of our lunch at Daniela's restaurant yesterday. We were in the heart of the Hampden neighborhood, with all the little boutiques, cafés, joints and interesting row houses. We liked how the tables outside were disposed in three levels, on the front porch, below, and on the sidewalk.
The service was great, also considering how our server had to attend single-handedly to several tables with diners.
The parking in the area is easy to find. We'll definitely return to explore all the other choices in the menu. Thank you for a great experience!
What a fantastically delicious meal and outstanding outdoor ambiance here. Only down side is our server was not friendly, didn’t introduce herself and seemed harried but it might have been a service industry shortage symptom. Still worth it!!!
It was a nice time sitting on the porch for dinner. Very good ravioli- gluten free too!! Yay.
This restaurant is so quaint, I love the cozy feel. This food is amazing, I was not expecting this to be fine dining. The menu is very good, I had a hard time deciding. I can't wait to go back and try something else ! The dessert was so delicious fresh and homemade. The cream was so good. Strawberry Tiramisu !!! I highly recommend, this is a hidden gem . ❤
Very disappointing considering the great reviews. The server was inattentive & did not know the menu. Ravioli dish was drowned in olive oil. One dessert pastry was tough & tasted as if it was microwaved too long & the other was so frozen it was hard as a rock, we couldn’t eat it.
Charming restaurant with consistently good food; outstanding pasta! Great for special diets .
The food was okay but the service was poor. The steps out front of the restaurant are extremely dangerous. I fell down the steps when we were being seated outside. One of the steps is way too short. The hostess/waitress was behind me when I fell. Not only did she not bother to ask me if I was okay, she seemed annoyed waiting for me to get up. My feet and toes were pretty banged up and it would have been appreciated if someone would have offered up some ice. While we were seated at our table which was right next to the steps I fell down, we watched 2 other people slip and fall down the same steps. The waiter was at our table one of those times and watched as another lady slipped and didn’t bother to see if she was okay. When I told him that the same thing happened to me, he said it was the shoes. I was wearing flats. It’s not the shoes, it was most definitely the steps. We could see them from our table, and one of the steps was definitely too short. It is probably against code. We definitely will not be back, not going to spend my money at an establishment that doesn’t care about their customers.
Great service and great food. I’ve been here before and will absolutely return.
We went for a birthday lunch on a rainy Tuesday. Stefano provided discreet and courteous service. We had an amazing fresh, delicious Caesar Salad followed by the linguine with Smoked Salmon and the Lump Crab ravioli. Both entrees were excellent. Made to order and delivered piping hot to the table. We're looking forward to our next visit.
Great food, great service
Wonderful local gem! Great service, delicious food and convenient location. We’ve eaten our share of Italian food but there a unique Sardinian dishes we’ve never had before and are worth a try. Wine list is great and well priced too!
Service and food were great as always!
We had was a delicious dinner with great conversation with the Sardinian waitstaff.
We visited based on our daughter’s recommendation and are happy that we did. The food was outstanding and the service very personable and friendly. The atmosphere is charming. Can’t wait for our next visit.
Delicious food, super personable staff, great ambiance. Loved it!
The food is amazing and so is the service! With the added outdoor seating, it is quite romantic for a couple or cozy for a group of friends!
We wanted to visit the restaurant sooner, but never made the time until recently. Wow! We were missing out! The food is fantastic, so balanced in taste, so fresh. Without a doubt some of the best Italian food I had in a long time. The staff was lovely and made our special occasion even more special. Definitely will be going back again!
Food was fantastic
good food, good service, a place to dine and visit for several hours, outdoor heating available (not needed on our visit) for future use
Always wonderful food!! Well worth a visit or return visit!!
Great food - authentic Italian with handmade pasta by the owner and friendly staff makes this our go to special occasion Italian restaurant. Highly recommend
This place was fantastic. Felt as if we were back in Italy. Service was great and both mother and son made us feel welcome. Food was delicious and authentic Sardinian. I highly recommend this unique little restaurant.
Fantastic in every way! There gnocchi was especially great.
Looking for a night out with my family for outdoor social distance meal and we found this place. We got there at 6:30 pm and it was virtually empty on a Saturday night. By 7 pm they were full. The service didn’t suffer, the food was lovely, desserts were yummy, and we couldn’t have been happier. It’s Hamden at its best.
