Ristorante Bella Vita Italian Bar and Grill - Los Altos Ratings and Reviews
I love that they are willing to make changes to dishes in order to satisfy the customer. All restaurants should be willing to please the customer but this is not always the case. Every time I have gone there they have wanted to make my food in a way that I will like it! Nice job!
We live in woodside. Friends live in Saratoga. We used to be able to go one way or the other. No more with the horrendous traffic. Checked open table for restaurants in Los altos. Half way for us. What a find. Not fancy. Nice Italian atmosphere which we appreciate since we normally normally spend 3-4 mos/yr in Italy. Food very good. Authentic. Great menu and wine list.
We met friends for dinner and had a wonderful meal and good service. The drawback to the restaurant is that it can get very noisy as the crowd increases in size. At times it was difficult to carry on a private conversation. I ordered the short-rib special and they were excellent. The desserts are wonderful.
My 3rd time there and Intrukynlive the atmosphere and food. However, I was there for lunch and the waiter, although friendly and gracious, rushed us to order even though the restaurant wasn't busy. Overheard the people at a nearby table make the same comment. I will go there again but assert my desire for more time before ordering.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. We go here a lot. They also have a back room where you can have a group party. We have had several office Christmas parties here and also the rehearsal dinner before our wedding. The staff is always very accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend.
Met some friends for dinner on a weekday. The restaurant was full but not overly crowded which made the atmosphere festive and comfortable. The service was prompt and attentive without being overbearing. The halibut special was excellent as was the linguine Bella Vita. The calamari was also great with a light crust and tasty cocktail/tartar dipping sauce on the side. They also have a great wine selection for both bottle and by-the-glass servings. We always enjoy our meal here. It's a great neighborhood place. The only downside is parking. There are a limited number of spaces in front/side of the restaurant. Parking on the street is also limited, which is not very convenient.
The food is great especially their linguini and clams. The clams are very large and delicious. The wait staff is very friendly and they allow you to alter the recipe of their dishes such as "please leave out the garlic". They make very good thin crust pizza for a very fair price. Parking is a little difficult but manageable.
Loved the restaurant ambiance. Excellent food, wine list also excellent, service good (server was very good but forgot to ask us if we wanted dessert or tea/coffee), bathrooms need some work. Women's was leaking under toilet, paper towel dispenser empty, and men's needed mopping due to sloppy customers.
We have been regulars here over the years. Recently, food prep has gone down and prices have gone up, service was pretty spotty too. Calamari, a staple, was woefully over cooked and upon offering our complaint, the waiter said: oh and walked away. this was after asking 3 times for salt and vinegar and dipping oil for the bread. Wine bottle pricing is 3x the store price. my husband's rigatoni with chicken was flavorless and the chicken tasted precooked, frozen and reheated. My chicken marsala was cooked in an overly sweet, probably really cheap marsala wine. Chicken was again tasting like a frozen filet, overcooked. when asking to substitute angelhair for mashed potatoes that was fine but I suggested no sauce as the marsala would be fine. Instead I got red sauce. good thing since the marsala s*.
so sorry a nice little village restaurant has gone down. New signage and naming maybe signals new management. Will skip going forward.
I have to say, this is one of the most consistent place in Los Altos downtown. Whether it is for a nice family dinner or friends gathering, we were never disappointed at this place. When we cannot decide where to go for dinner this is our go to place. The menu may not be adventurous or wow worthy. But you can always count on it to give you a good meal and great service!
A little disappointing. The potato leek soup was very watery and pretty much tasteless and the sauce on the lobster ravioli was also thin. Portion sizes were small. Service was OK but the waiter was unwilling to recommend one dish over another. The dessert was good (spumoni gelato) and the noise level was very good . Don't think I'll go back.
Bella Vista is one of the few neighborhood restaurants in Los Altos since the Silicon Valley upscale "swell's" have take over our quiet town and tried to make it posh. It has a nice atmosphere and a realistic menu of some imgination. Servers have improved in recent times to be a bit more professional but not pretentious. We sat in the bar this time, next to an open window which provided a lovely early evening fresh air breeze. It is a much needed simple, but good, reasonably priced destination.
Our first time trying Bella Vita although we've lived in Los Altos for many years. The restaurant is much larger inside than it appears from the outside. The decor is nice, although maybe a little cliche'. Food quality and taste was very good, portions were nice, cost is a little higher than you might pay elsewhere. Overall we were happy and will likely return.
The service was outstanding! It was a bit formal, yet friendly, and very accommodating. My finicky 8-year-old daughter did not like her plainer-than-plain spaghetti noodles. The server, without hesitation, was happy to exchange it for a cheese pizza, no sauce ... and although we offered to pay for the additional meal, he took the noodles off our bill. Additionally, we were here to celebrate my birthday, though we did not inform the host. (I do know this for certain, for the darlings in my family are NOT ones to draw attention to themselves.) The server happened to overhear my daughter talking about it and at the end of the meal, I was surprised with a tiramisu and a Happy Birthday song. Bella Vita's rustic/Italian ambiance is casual enough to enjoy and relax, yet special enough to celebrate occasions or impress a friend. I've eaten here a handful of times and do enjoy each visit.
The food and service were outstanding, only spoiled by a noisy patron who insisted on bellowing from one end of the table to the other when in a family group. He should have been moved to a quieter area of the restaurant. My friend and I both had the soup of the day, a pasta dish, and shared a dessert. Each course was better than expected and far above average. For a busy Saturday night, the staff did a fine job!
