Italian
The first Risotteria Melotti was opened in Isola della Scala, in the region of VERONA, in 2002. The idea of opening a Risotteria in New York came in order to make this typical and traditional italian dish known and cooked by us, with the rice we produce and with the typical old style techniques used in Isola della Scala.

We loved the restaurant and our meals- my only negative comment is the noise level- and if by chance youre at the cozy table next to the door it unfortunately slams shut each time someone opens it.

This was my second visit to the restaurant. I love that it is completely gluten free and has so many amazing options to chose from. The staff was very friendly and service was quick and efficient. It is a perfect date night/girls night out spot.

Thank you! All our rice products come from Italy, where they are produced at the Melotti Farm in Isola della Scala - Our Risottos tradition goes way back and we are glad it is appreciated in NY too!

We love Risotteria Melotti and were happy to introduce a friend, he was very impressed. We were there for a leisurely lunch on Friday and had salads and risottos which were all excellent, as well as a lovely dessert special.

The best place for a completely gluten free meal. Menu is complete and the place is clean and nice. Risottos tend to be on the salty side, but it's a taste preference. Music is slightly too loud for a romantic date. Overall a very good experience.

Best Risotto in town! Great wine, good service, wonderful desserts AND EVERYTHING IS GLUTEN FREE! A great option for my family with one member who has celiac disease! We can always eat with abandon - and usually do!

They serves the most authentic Italian risotto, from own grown rice. They are also have very tasty strawberry pure cocktail with prosecco. My husband is not a big fan of risotto, but this time he was surprised and finally realized that I was always looking for a good risotto.

This is a little gem in a city full of fine dining. The risotto is the best I’ve ever had—I had the shrimp and lemon variety, but I bet they’re all good. This cozy spot was a highlight of our trip, the prices are very affordable. Love this place!

Wonderfully authentic and cosy Italian restaurant run by an Italian family that grows rice near Verona, and makes many rice-related dishes extremely well. This is their only restaurant in US--other two are in Italy. Very worthwhile.

We had a couple family members in town, one with severe allergies gluten being the worst of them. We purposely chose this place based on the 100% gluten free basis, figuring as it usually is that they would be able to handle other allergies. Not only did they serve our family with plates that contained listed allergens twice, but they treated these mistakes flippantly, which could have had extreme consequences. Beyond this basic service was lacking with issues such as water glasses remaining empty for 20 minutes.

The food here is fantastic. We had the arugula salad, the duck and the shrimp risottos, which were wonderful. And as someone with celiac disease, I can't even begin to describe the pleasure of a 100% gluten free restaurant where I don't feel like the odd person out. When we arrived at 7:30 it was still pretty calm, but the tables quickly filled up and when it did so it became quite noisy and hot and the service slowed down (including serving others who had arrived before us). The space between tables is quite small, so if you're claustrophobic you will have trouble at peak hours. But the food was absolutely worth it -I'd simply arrive trying to go early or late to avoid peak hours.

I have been to Risotteria Melotti three times now. I have never been disappointed. I have loved the risotti I have ordered and that of my friends. The service is impeccable and you are never rushed out. It is truly an Italian experience. The only small point is that it is a bit pricey--although I gladly pay for wonderful food and great service.

The restaurant was quaint and had an authentic Italian feel. The food was delicious and fresh. We ordered as an appetizer the Fritto Misto which were light, crispy, and the freshest seafood I've ever had. As entrees we ordered the Limone e Gamberi and the Cacio e Pepe which were both delicious. The Limone e Gamberi had a delicate flavor, and again, the freshest shrimp I've ever tasted. The Cacio e Pepe, had a unique flavor that reminded me of what proper mac-n-cheese should taste like. As a person with Celiac Disease, it is difficult to find a restaurant where the gluten free foods do not have the graininess of gluten free flours or ingredients, and this restaurant exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be visiting again, when we travel to New York, next Spring.

We have been to this place a number of times now. And ever time we go, it seems they've come up with another way to make it more cramped.

The first table they sat us at had a step as a seat on one side, and less than a foot on the other side to the entrance to the bar. It wasn't even a chair! The second table was equally cramped, and about 2" unlevel.

The seafood dishes were oversalted and over cooked. Both of us were sick the next day. The mushroom soup and tiramisu were good.

The wine was nice, and the wait staff were friendly enough, but the amount of rushing they do around the cramped tables makes it seem like it'll be inevitable that a glass, dish or wine glass is going to get knocked over, and its more stressful than relaxing.

Cramped, rushed, poor design and overcooked food all contributed to a pretty poor dinner, and takes away from a lot of the authentic atmosphere this place could have.

Unless they change a lot, I won't be going back.

The food was fanatic as usual. Had a bit of a mixup with our left overs (we asked to take them home, but the waiter misunderstood). They ended up making us fresh portions to take home with us. Needless to say, service is always great. Highly recommend
