We were in good hands throughout the evening. Our server Liz was highly professional yet warm and conversational. All the other staff were professional and warm. Our request for espelette peppers on the side was honored without a question. The branzino, seasonally focused with summer squash and tomato, was outstanding. And speaking of focus, while whiskey is the main event, the menu includes a nice list of roses and other wines.
Food was very good; service ok. Speakers above our heads too noisy.
Great cocktails and a small, but random items on the menu. Only a few mains, but the starters were excellent to share and price points encouraged sharing of a bunch of dishes. Our server was attentive and accommodating and it was a great meal. Vibrant bar scene too!
Great spot for high end cocktails and well crafted food.
Great spot, terrific wait staff, delicious mixed drinks from the bar, excellent offerings. I loved this place and I'll be back.
I have now been to the Ripplewood multiple times and love the food and ambience. Excited to go again soon!
The food itself was ok, my first wine smelled like dirty dish water And I sent it back- I have never sent wine back before.....the second one also smelled the same way, it was improperly cleaned glasses with a foul odor. We were charged for both glasses of wine even though the first was sent back. The restaurant also had a musty moldy smell to it. Wish I liked this place, we live in walking distance and others have had a great experience.
We have been several times and everything has always been excellent. The octopus appetizer and ceasar salad are stellar. Also the burger and fish and chips are excellent. Also main hits are parker house rolls. half chicken, and bronzino. Staff are attentive and helpful. Watch out for beer served in small goblets -- ask the bartender.
Awesome cocktails and always great food. We're lucky to have Ripplewood- an immediate favorite
Fabulous new spot with great food, interesting drinks, and a really fun vibe. The service is wonderful, and everyone on their staff is very friendly and welcoming. I've been there twice and cannot wait to go back.
The food was good, as was the service. We will be back!
Their whiskey list is expansive, the quality of the mixed drinks is good, and the atmosphere is lively and friendly. My first time going I sat at the bar with friends and the bartender was friendly, funny, incredibly knowledgable, and easy going. He definitely added to my experience. My second time going was during happy hour with my family, and we sat down at a table. The food pricing is remarkably low for what it is, and the happy hour pricing makes it even better. We all had multiple drinks, plenty of food, and dessert for about 25 bucks per person. I would definitely recommend the whiskey sour, it is exceptionally well-made and tasty.
I celebrated my 40th Birthday at Ripplewood and I have to say they made me feel VERY SPECIAL! The staff was VERY attentive to my party. From beginning to end this had to be the BEST EXPERIENCE!!!
We were first seated at a table literally next to a closet of ac with condensation dripping on the table. Then after waiting 10 minutes they sat us elsewhere. The manager graciously offered to comp our drinks which took over 40 minutes to arrive. Then the manager comped two appetizers and dessert. So the value was great because we ate a ton and the food was awesome, but they have to get the service together.
Inventive (but tasty!) food combos - mostly large-sized apps to go with the various cocktails. Very energetic - loud music - difficult to have a conversation over dinner. Very attentive waitstaff.
Great food and great service- a must try
Happy hour & dinner combo...
We arrived in time to enjoy Happy Hour for awhile. Combined the 2 menus & decided to stay downstairs on the comfortable sofas with small tables to dine. Shared small plates taps style. Charred octopus was my favorite! Ordered 2 of those...Caesar salad also charred, tuna crudo, flatbread, sliders, quesadillas, everything was good to great!
We will be back....
Had reservation but still got seated well after reservation time. We were not in a rush so we enjoyed the bar area for a while. Front waiter had great personality and good service. We had to ask for silverware and back waiter/ expo didn’t provide much personality. Food was very well prepared and tasty! Loved the cocktail menu. Best part of the experience.
Bathroom: Was surprised the bathroom was not in better condition, considering it is a new restaurant.
Decor: seemed to have one theme in the front, a different one in the back. Odd.
Seating: had reservations, but was seated at a high top next to the bar. Very uncomfortable seats, lots of people squishing past us.
Service: our waiter was good but the food runners forgot to bring us plates for our apps and silverware for our dessert.
Food: wings and fries were good, pesto pasta was drowning in pesto. Cloying. Dessert yummy. Drinks smooth.
All in all, just OK!
Wonderful neighborhood gem!
Selfishly, I don't want to say how good it was; it's already wildly popular. For good reason.
The cocktails are great (partial to The Paloma), the brisket fries are ridiculously good, as are the wings, the charred octopus, the brussel sprouts- even the wedge salad is exceptional!
Came here for a Father's Day brunch with my husband and 6 year old. It was full of energy and full of life. The food was amazing and so was the service. I would highly recommend this place!
The brisket omlette was a thing of beauty matched only by the smoothness of the cocktails. Great addition to the area restaurant and cocktail scene. Can't wait to go back!
Small potions of excellent food the building was old and the stairs to the 2nd floor were small
Our server was informative and friendly. Ripp fries are amazing. Ricotta donuts are just impossibly fluffy, fried transportation for Nutella. The grilled Caesar salad with chicken was SO good. Delish Whisky Sour.
Great first visit. Delicious burger and even more delicious small platwe. Looking forward to our next visit.
Excellent meal. Rip fries and crab Louis salad were both delicious and very filling! Also had the burger and Bronzino, both were amazing. My avocado, marguerita was delicious but the skinny chai was the best!
Erica our server was very attentive and super sweet. Can’t say enough great things about this new gem in our neighborhood ! We will be back!
Our waiter Michael was fantastic!
My date and I did the entire experience appetizers, main course, dessert and drinks. Service was excellent, food was very good beer choice was good but limited (it’s a Whiskey Bar) overall an excellent place for a date. What we had:
Crispy Pork Ribs - outstanding crispy but juicy- really a nice dish
Mushroom Burratta toast - a special - good - but I preferred the ribs
Beef Stroganoff- great - flavors are nicely balanced - meat is served on top of the noodles - I made the rookie mistake of getting the meat done medium- i should have opted for medium rare.
Crab Louie Salad - this is a nice mix of salad, fresh crab, Amish picked eggs, avocado, red pepper and cucumber- great blend
As noted - our server was very attentive and provided excellent input on what to order.
Overall Great place - we ended the night with the Brookie - brownie, chocolate chip cookie with ice cream and a shot of Eagle Rare..
Go you’ll have fun.
Best new restaurant we have been to in quite a while. Started out with a great wine/beer/cocktail list and some bar snacks. Then ordered a bunch of the shared plates and passed them around -- highlights were the pork ribs and the grilled octopus. Lots of nice little touches with all of the dishes, and don't miss ordering the rolls (either parker or pretzel rolls -- don't remember exactly) with the truffle butter -- fantastic! And make sure to leave room for desert -- we had one of each one on the menu and they were all great!
As a senior citizen I found the place somewhat funky new age. In fact, the food is described as new American. My friend and I had a good time. Our server, Cornelia, was attentive and adorable. Paul, the manager, came over and explained the concept of the restaurant. The wedge salad was delicious as were the flatbreads.
As a new restaurant in ardmore it’s very busy and popular. Time will tell if it can continue to please.
Staff was super friendly and helpful with the menu. And the ambience is great in the bar section Ambience is just ok in back room. The noise from other tables made it hard to hold a conversation -- felt like we were in a total add-on room that didn't feel like a restaurant. Food had a lot of oil poured all over it, literally every dish. Overall it left me still longing for a high quality restaurant experience in the Main Line.
A local Lower Merion restaurant that feels like a good Center Center place, including very good tasting food and very well managed by two former Starr Restaurant guys.
i dont know what 2say despite the negative reviews which i think have taken 2 consideration i had a positive experience. the music wasn't as loud as some customers have made it 2b
Disaster. Once we were seated at our table, it took ten minutes before a waiter asked us if we wanted water or would like to order a drink. One of our two appetizers was forgotten/omitted. An entrée that involved meat was asked to be cooked "well done" and it came out completely pink. After asking our waiter for the check, it took him FIFTEEN minutes to return with the check. This establishment is so focused on their bar, that food and dining patrons have become an afterthought. Might be a place to go for drinks, but if you want to eat, this place was bad news.
My 3rd time here already. As hard as it was to not order the same things we've enjoyed before (parker house rolls! wings! brussel sprouts!!), we were glad we branched out. The fries, loaded with cheese, jalapenos, and brisket were ridiculously good- so was the simple/not so simple wedge salad. I got adventurous and ordered the avocado margarita- delicious and not at all weird. Can't wait to work through the rest of the menu. One tip: don't order right away, because your food might come too quickly and make too short a night of it.
They are new. It is clear there are kinks to iron out. The music is really loud. The roll on my fellow diner was stale. The fish I ordered was delicious but the beurre blanc was tasteless. This is my second try here. I think some more spice would ge good. Also, I am mostly a vegetarian and there are no entrees without meat or fish. Cocktails are delicious though!
not a great value -- drinks are $11-15. and they push the "shared plates" which were small (don't remember the price) Tables are close together and although we had a good spot, it felt crowded andd had to squeeze to get out. This is THE hot spot for main liners so we checked it out. not sure if I would return
We were a bit disappointed. Cocktail service was slow. We ordered the popcorn, brussel sprouts, a flatbread, and 2 burgers. The brussel sprouts were delicious!! There were many burnt kernels in the popcorn app and it was a small bowl for the price. Flatbread was tasty but not very hot. The burgers were average.
Doubtful we'll go again, unfortunately.
