The food was amazing! Everything we ordered was delicious!
Great food as always. Very friendly and competent and attentive service. It was a bit chilly, and they are trying their best with the indoor ban. There's a tent set up that has a heater running on the ground. It takes time to heat up. I was there for brunch, and it was almost 50 outside, and I was still not super comfortable. I cannot imagine having dinner there in the evening, when there's no sun. Hope they can survive.
This was great food and our waitress was superb!!!
Brunch was delicious! We asked for a few drinks that weren’t on the menu and they made it happen. Food was fantastic! We will be back
It was my first time trying Rioja. The food was delicious. Rack of lamb was beyond my expectations:)
Absolutely excellent. The food and the service were fantastic. We appreciate you!
What a great meal. Each element of each dish adds a ton of flavour and a great staff bringing it all out at the ideal time.
Great food and overall experience even with COVID!
It was an odd but good experience. There was almost no background noise or music so it was uncomfortably quiet for this fantastic place. Normally it feels so warm and welcoming, and it just seemed blank and stark (besides the extra space needed for our current environment.) I was also very sad to see the crazy amazing artichoke tortellini was off the lunch menu. That was my main reason to come for a visit but gabes chronic chicken filled the spot for a quick 30th birthday lunch.
Great meal, took care of us for our anniversary
Outdoor seating is not ideal to get a true Rioja experience
Food was gross and the birthday dessert we bought, staff was exhausted .
We were looking forward to heading out one last time for a great meal before the covid curfew happens again. We booked online. When they called to confirm our reservation the day before we asked if we could be at an outdoor table. The person calling assured me that we were "confirmed for outdoor seating." When we arrived, we were taken to a tiny table in the back that was right next to the entryway of that room. Not an intimate place to sit at all. The food was good, but not GREAT like I recall from visits before. The salmon crudo should be renamed to the pana cotta crudo since there were only a handful of tiny salmon bits dotting a much larger bed of sweet panna cotta with wafers. We both ordered pasta and the portions were so tiny, it was almost comical. I mean three average size raviolis? I wish the waiter would have explained the portion size as we ordered and given us the opportunity to adjust our selections to something more filling. Next time, we'll go back to TAG.
Amazing experience and food was phenomenal. Will go back!!
We love doing the tasting menu at Rioja! This is our second time doing it and I was very pleased with the selection. The staff was great. They even gave my husband a little extra treat as it was his birthday. I felt as though they made appropriate arrangements in lieu of COVID.
Absolutely our favorite place for special occasions. The food is outstanding, and the wait staff superb. The tables are distanced from each other, and it feels as safe as you can be inside a restaurant.
Great spot! Sat in their heated outdoor tent which kept us toasty along with the spiced whisky cider. Server was super friendly, although the bread runners only offered a single tiny slice - had to ask for more because it was delicious. Tried all 3 pastas as half orders - the tortelloni brodo was amazing. Sausage-stuffed quail was good as well. The indoor seating was really cozy looking too, would love to go back.
Great pacing of courses. Very romantic environment.
Thanks for all of the stars!
Really excellent food and service. We ate inside and we felt very safe as the restaurant was properly socially distanced and the staff were professional. Make sure you check out the daily specials! We really recommend getting the veal shortbread and the fresh bacon for the appetizers!
I now understand why cooking show contestants are penalized for making gnocchi that are not airy and pillowlike after eating the Rioja plate. They were savory with perfect consistency mushrooms and smoky cheese. Beets with cashew butter were superb. Striped bass with spinach puree was so good, and lemon mellow the radicchio appropriately. Pork and quail entrees were a hit at the table. Our server made the birthday special with tiny cones.
Dinner was excellent the night before but brunch was even better! Loved the options that were available and those Apple Fritters were sooooo good! Rioja is definitely on our go-to list now.
Thanks for the kind words LorenzoP!
10/10 incredible restaurant. Cannot wait to go back for any special occasion.
Thanks for all of the stars SharJ. We hope to see you again soon!
First time here and it lived up to all of the reviews and our expectations! Wonderful food, dining outside wasn’t cold due to the proper setup and heating and the live band on the street added a very nice atmosphere. We’re definitely going to go again and enjoy other menu options.
My friends and I travelled from all over the country to celebrate a 30th Birthday and Rioja pulled out ALL the stops. The food and cocktails (and mocktails) were amazing. But the experience was completely bespoke with a handwritten birthday card from the staff and mini ice cream cones filled with homemade birthday cake ice cream. That’s right, mini cones. So adorable and delectable. The staff was amazing! And I can still taste the pork belly appetizer! We cannot wait to return.
Wonderful food and service! The chicken was fantastic and bread service is always great.
Celebrated my sister’s birthday at Rioja. The dining experience was perfect with above and beyond service from our server who made sure that my sister experienced a wonderful birthday dinner and the food was incredible, perfectly cooked and flavorful.
Food and presentation were excellent. Service was okay, but not great.
The must try for us was the artichoke tortellini!
Great lunch experience. Not crowded and felt safe given COVID situation. Food and service are always great! They are working on winterizing their outdoor area so I look forward to coming back as the weather gets colder.
Being in a virus target group, we chose Rioja to be our first dine-in restaurant & we were so pleased. Their COVID protocol was excellent & the lunch menu was varied & interesting. Started with a C3 Cava to celebrate my birthday & followed with the most delicious chicken salad sandwich you could ever imagine. For dessert I had a cinnamon gelato - if no one had been around, I would have licked the bowl. Another lovely meal at Rioja!!!
Thank you Jennifer & Beth - don’t give up hope.
Thanks for all of the stars and celebrating your anniversary with us BarryN!
Highly recommend the menu tasting with wine pairings!
FOOD Was not so good
octopus was over cooked
and just for the money you pay its not worth it
Our server was very polite, fun and took care of us
Thanks for the kind words LisaG. We hope to see you again soon!
As always an excellent experience. Service is top notch and food is impeccable. No matter what you order, you won't be dissapointed.
Despite the fact that COVID has asphyxiated the restaurant industry, Rioja remains a leader of the fine dining in our region. Our experience was outstanding. No compromises were made on quality of food nor on quality of service. We felt safe and cared for during our entire stay, and our meals were excellent. The potato cheese crepe of the day was the show stopper, but the Chronic chicken salad was a close second and I highly recommend it if you like a delicate curry spice under a textured acid forward chicken salad. Just wait until you get a crunch of candied walnut- well done chef.
Thank you so much Fury for taking the time to publish your feedback on your recent brunch experience. We are pleased to read that you had great time! Hope to see you again soon.
Extremely impressed with the quality of the food and the service. A great spot for date night or just a treat-yourself evening away from the crazy world.
Thanks for the wonderful review HeathM!
Food was a miss. Part of one entree was burnt and another part dried out. Judging by other reviews, I'm sure this is a huge anomaly. Service was okay.
The service was great and the staff was very knowledgeable. The food was good but I think it was a bit overpriced.
Contemporary restaurant in trendy Larimer Square. Location and ambience are ideal, however, the food misses the mark. We had a scallop appetizer, beet salad, artichoke tortellini, gnocchi, and the prosciutto-wrapped pork tenderloin. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly, but the gorgonzola potato puree was overwhelmed by gorgonzola and the pork was very salty. The gnocchi was very small (half the size of normal gnocchi) and so dry it had a fried bread-like texture, more akin to a small crouton than gnocchi. I LOVE beets, but the other flavors of the salad were not complimentary. The soy-ginger glazed shiitake and sesame cracker provided an umami bitterness that didn't go well with the earthy beets. The artichoke tortellini was very good. The scallop appetizer had a perfectly cooked scallop, however, there was just one accompanied by a stewed pear that had a similar texture, yet a very bland flavor. Both the pear and the scallop were overpowered by a generous accoutrement of capers. Finally, the amuse-bouche of a tasty corn fritter arrived without explanation and was placed on a thin wooden disk that looked like a cracker on top of another plate. It took a minute to figure out the wooden disk was not a cracker and, unfortunately, a patron at a neighboring table painfully bit into the disk. The staff was perfect and the ambience was romantic and trendy, I just didn't enjoy the food. Of course, that is just my opinion.
