Mediterranean
Chef Jennifer Jasinski's creatively inspired Mediterranean food is influenced by local seasonal products. Rioja is simple, pure food that emphasizes bright flavors & textures. The wines are a collection of fun interesting varietals that complement the cuisine.

Not as good as anticipated. Starter below average, entree average at best.

This was our first brunch experience at Rioja and it was wonderful! We had Rioja's version of eggs benedict and the crepe of the day. Both dishes were fabulous and as always, the service was impeccable.

We haven't had brunch there for a while due to poor service in the past. We gave it another chance, the food was great, the service was lacking at first, then picked up enough to make it bearable. I believe the manager was trying to keep our server caught up the best she could so Kudos to her and the rest of the team.

Superb experience. We had the 5 course tasting menu. Each dish was thoughtfully crafted, beautifully presented and skillfully executed.

Service was engaging without being intrusive.

Would highly recommend.

It was a nice outing before the theater — the food was good. With so many options in downtown, I’m not sure we will be back.

Every year, we drive down to Denver for a museum visit and lunch on the Friday following Thanksgiving. My 80 year old mother saved the card from our lunch 2 years ago. That is saying something right there... and Rioja did not disappoint!
My sister so enjoyed our appetizers of the Bacon & the smoked carmelized pear and her tagliatelle that she purchased the cookbook.
See you again next year!

The service was very good. The food was as expected, in that everything was delicious. Although the bacon appetizer was quite bland and overcooked. The price was was a bit high, and there are certainly other options just as delectable at a slightly lower price.

We went for our anniversary and they did not disappoint! Food was rich and delicious. They also had some very nice options for those of us who don’t drink. The Rioja “picnic” was amazing 😍

We choose Rioja for a nice anniversary dinner. What an awesome choice! Our server was excellent, the food was unique and filled with flavor. The menu isn’t long so take a look online before you go to make sure there is something you would like.

Fantastic on all accounts!!! Ambiance, service, food quality - all amazing. And the price, comparative to most restaurants of this quality, was eminently affordable. The most expensive entree was $38. Fantastic experience!!!

I have never had a bad meal at Rioja. It’s our go to for a great pre-theater meal, an awesome date, or a celebration. The food is outstanding. The service is impeccable. Ask for Robyn, rose whatever she suggests and enjoy a delicious meal.

A former work colleague was in town, and I chose Rioja for dinner because it never disappoints. There are countless stellar dining choices in Denver these days (unlike when Rioja opened 15 years ago), and it stands the test of time. The Crispy Brussels Sprouts Salad, with roasted squash, apples, and sage vinaigrette, is autumn in a bowl. We both loved the Sweet Potato Gnocchi: pillowy with a touch of caramelized edges, combined with grilled balsamic radicchio and pepita-oat crumble. We finished by splitting the Brandy Snap Cannoli with passion fruit coulis, and it was dessert perfection: a bit of crunch, some creamy sweetness, and a little fruity tartness. And the service at Rioja from beginning to end was impeccable on a busy Tuesday night. Highly recommended.

Impeccable service. Food was great. The only exception was that one beef dish was ordered medium rare and was delivered with portions of it very rare. Always a fine dining experience by a flawless staff.

Rioja is always outstanding. The vegetarian four square is always interesting and delicious, changing all the time and using seasonal ingredients. The desserts are also fabulous. Also a great selection of Tempranillo wine.

We had a lovely dinner at Rioja, I've been here many times before. We went to celebrate my fathers 78th birthday. The one disappointing thing was, I notified the staff when I made the reservation, called that day and said something upon arrival and the server didn't make mention of his birthday the whole dinner, even when we ordered dessert. Not expecting a big thing but something small would have been appreciated and at a restaurant like this I expected a higher level of service.

My husband and I came to celebrate our Anniversary and were surprised by an exceptional service and high food quality!

We had the Fesh Bacon aka pork belly with cardamom and chickpea puree. Needless to say it melted in your mouth.

We also had a special appetizer, hamachi with cucumber, yuzu and microgreens, the combination of textures and flavors was like a party in your mouth.

As a mezzo or “second” course, we ordered the famous hand-rolled artichoke tortellini. The white truffle broth provided a flavorful contrast to the soft and delicate artichoke tortellini.

For entrees we had the tuna tartare and octopus and the scallops. Each dish was so carefully crafted to take your palate on an adventure.

We decided on the pear with raclette for dessert and it did not disappoint. Word to the wise, if you don’t feel like eating arugula for dessert then you can order this as an appetizer. However, if you combine it with the honey it makes for an interesting dish.

We were excited as reviews were all pretty good. Instead, we were extremely disappointed. Waited 15 minutes before anyone even greeted us. The service never got better from there.

Food was average

Probably won’t ever go back nor recommend. :-(

I love this place and have been going there for many years. This was a special night as part of a birthday celebration after a show at the Pepsi Center. I had a in house made pasta dish it was excellent but the portion was too small, I wanted another roll. The service and staff were superb. We vowed to return again soon.

been on my list for a long time and finally went on a Friday. The ambiance was great, food was great, service was great, but all in was a little pricey for what we got. I knew we would be paying a lot going into it, and definitely enjoyed my time here, but was a tad on the expensive side to make this a regular joint. Love the location and definitely glad I tried it.

This was our second time at Rioja, and it was even better than the first visit. We were early, so sat at the bar for Happy Hour. The bartenders were attentive and responsive, even though they were pretty busy. Dinner was amazing, we opted to do Chef's choice since we were having trouble deciding. The food was excellent. All in all, a great experience.

They were lovely - we were so late due to traffic and they couldn’t have been more gracious (we did call). Our waiter was attentive and transparent that he would push our food out fast since we had theater tickets. An amazing experience considering what we went through to get there!!! Highly recommend! The food was epic!!!

Rioja is the perfect pre theater or concert restaurant and clearly one of Denver’s best. What we like the most is the ability to create a multi course meal from the great apps, dazzling pastas and complex mains and pair the meal with wine from their great list.

Our first time and overall everything was very good...just didn’t finish well. Cocktails were well prepared and very good made with high quality ingredients and nice extras. We started with the Rioja picnic. A wonderful charcuterie assortment of meats, cheeses...it was extremely well done and delicious. As a mezzo course we tried artichoke tortellini...wow, do not miss this pasta dish. It is incredible! As an entree we had the dinner special, a pan seared Arctic char and the duck confit. The char was well prepared and was actually a savory dish the way it was prepared. The duck confit was the beat I’ve had. Delicious entrees, well prepared. They had some wonderful desserts. We ordered one to share. Our neighboring table ordered their dessert about 4 minutes after us and had finished their dessert before I was able to flag down our server. It had been 15 minutes...and I asked for the check. No explanation for the mishap.
