Mediterranean
Chef Jennifer Jasinski's creatively inspired Mediterranean food is influenced by local seasonal products. Rioja is simple, pure food that emphasizes bright flavors & textures. The wines are a collection of fun interesting varietals that compliment the cuisine.

What Insiders Are Saying

The Infatuation
8.3

There aren't a ton of compelling reasons to go downtown for dinner these days, but Rioja is still one of them.

Ratings 8.0-8.5:The best way to think about restaurants in the low to mid 8′s is that these are the places you would absolutely go back to, anytime. These restaurants are ones that you want to bring a friend to, just so they can also experience the duck carnitas, or burger, or whatever dish the place is known for.

My husband and I took his mom and her husband to dinner while they were visiting from Pittsburgh. Everything about the night was outstanding. Our waiter was so attentive and the food was out of this world. We have been coming to Rioja for several years. It is always amazing. Thank you for never letting us down.

This dining experience was memorable. The service was exemplary, as was the display of the food, and the taste, originality and quality of the food. Thank you for making this such a wonderful evening for us.

Great as always, but same as usual lately too, we fell in love with Rioja due to new/innovative means but menu has been pretty much unchanged for what seems to be a long time.

The food and service were fantastic!!!!

We were seated 45 minutes after our 9:00pm reservation, which was disappointing; they obviously need to be better with their reservation management. And the bar is small and packed so don’t expect to be able to get a drink while you wait. But the food was worth the wait.

I chose to try Rioja while visiting Denver thinking I would have a chance to sample some version of tapas, based off the name. Though slightly disappointed, as this wasn’t the case, Rioja still delivered with incredible food. The staff was friendly and attentive, and did everything to make sure se had a great experience. I would definitely recommend and will probably be back again.

LOVED it! We’re picky about wine & were going to a concert afterwards. So we only wanted one glass. The waitress still let us try one before we decided on it. We didn’t like it so she recommended a Boudreaux which we loved. The salad, entrees, & dessert exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere was inviting & fun.

Outstanding, as usual. The food is always great (we had the duck and lamb) and the staff is caring and attentive. Could live on their rosemary & goat cheese biscuits, and would never dream of leaving without an order of beignets. Excellent!

I celebrated my birthday at Rioja. LOVED the counter seating as we could watch the cold dishes being prepared. The evening was relaxing and the food spectacular. I ordered the theater menu and enjoyed the three courses. The duck was perfectly prepared and beautifully plated. The desserts were tempting and delicious...lemon tart and coconut mousse!

Had an outstanding visit to Rioja for our anniversary. We were well taken care of by all the servers and hosts, and our specific was friendly, fun, and very helpful. At the end they gave us a happy anniversary card that they had all signed, so sweet! They offered to comp dessert for us which we were too full for, so instead they took care of our drinks which was probably $30. Great experience, highly recommend for special occasions or just for a regular nice night out as well.

Amazing food and the server was very great. The only thing that took more time than should have were drinks, the bar wasn't very busy but seemed to take quite a while to make anything that was more complicated than champagne. But in the end we loved it!

Another fabulous dinner at Rioja! This has become our go-to special occasion spot because they always provide one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Start to finish excellence with the perfect coursing to make it a true experience. The lemon and goat cheese gnocchi was a particular highlight this time around. We can’t wait to go back - total fangirl over here!

This was our first visit to Rioja but it definitely won't be our last. We were there for brunch...best eggs Benedict I've ever eaten. The lamb burger was exceptional, albeit a bit spicy. :) I ordered the Orange Cannoli for dessert....there are no words. It wasn't too sweet, barely sweet at all, the orange sauce was mixed with Brandy and it was served with edible flowers. Almost too pretty to eat. The service was excellent, the ambiance and noise level were perfect. I highly recommend Rioja.
