Rio City Café - Sacramento
Rio City Cafe is situated in beautiful historic Old Sacramento, overlooking some of the most prominent landmarks in Sacramento. The Sacramento River runs by our spacious outdoor patio, with spectacular views of the historic Tower Bridge and the Ziggurat (pyramid) building.
Rio City Cafe opened its doors in May of 1994. We display a comfortably casual setting, with indoor and outdoor seating. We can accommodate large parties and banquets, as well as private parties in our banquet room for special occasions. Or just simply enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine and the view in the outdoor cocktail area. During the colder months, enjoy the view from inside near our cozy fireplace.
Great ambiance! Food was amazing & had the perfect table on the outdoor patio looking out on the river! Staff and service was great! Highly recommend!
Food was mediocre at best, had to send a dish back because inedible. Other dishes were just soso. Not much care given to flavor or presentation.
The house salad was amazing and the rosemary fries, which I did not order are a hit. The chicken noodle soup could use some more flavor.
Great view on the deck! Good food and service.
Their food is very tasty and it is a nice and clean place, so I would recommend it.
I enjoy coming to Rio City Cafe, however for the price I pay my toast should not be cold every time. What is that all about?
We had a fantastic meal but it was a little on the pricey side. The patio ambiance along the river is magic but they charge for the location. Service was impeccable.
Dinner presentation was nice. Filet Mignon was a tad to sweet for me. We mainly come for the Ambiance.
Great food & staff and wonderful patio seating over the river.
Lovely location on the water.
Food was surprisingly tasty. We had the breakfast combo with French toast. Potatoes were perfect and sauce and bacon tasty. Only opportunity to improve is the French toast hadn’t really been soaked long enough in the egg base, so was a little dry. Service was great. Nice spot if you find yourself in downtown Sac.
Yummy food and cocktails. Loved sitting outside and enjoying the river and boats.
Family from canada
On our anniversary my husband and i sat outside so we had the river view. It was quiet and relaxing. The manager congratulated us personally and told us to let him know if there was anything we needed. Our service was good. Not harried due to being over busy as there were plenty of servers. The food is always good. Note to remener, i like a little pink in my filet and was not sure about ordering medium well. I recommend medium for those who want some pink. We had a nice time.
Sat on patio. Beautiful day, beautiful view right on the Sacramento River. Menu was quite varied and each of us (4) had different items. Everyone was vary happy with their selections. I had shrimp tacos -delicious! This was a lunch with former colleagues- all retired now. Prices were all under $20 and service was excellent! Definitely recommend to anyone and if weather permits, definitely choose patio seating!
Our server was Christina, she is awesome and very attentive.
Birthday celebration. Everything was outstanding. Could not have been better. Highly recommend outside seating when possible.
Our server VANESSA was amazing! We had the best time & will be back for sure!
The best French Dip sandwich I ever had. The rolls were great, the au perfection and the horseradish dip just enough to make me weep a little bit. We had coffee instead of a dessert, and it was excellent, with refills offered and enjoyed. I wish it had been warm enough to enjoy dining outside but we chose to stay indoors and scored a window table so we could look out at the early Fall day.
The food, wait staff and ambiance were great! Good for a group lunch.
The only problem that i had was that our entree came out before our soup and salad. Next time i will just order one thing at a time.
Excellent service at our cozy table for three by the fire; food was great as usual
We ordered our food. It came surprisingly fast. Faster than what we expected. We sat outside and it was breezy. Food tasted amazing. Didn’t have room for dessert. I would definitely come back again.
The food was not good. The menu is overpriced. I did like the soup du jour, but the steak had a sauce on it that was disgusting. My husband did not care for his food either. It is a lot of money for such poor quality food. I let my friends and family know that I didn't care for the restaurant, and they all told me that they could have told me not to go there and waste my money.
Everything was great!
First time to come to this place but I love it! The server she was nice and the foods were great! will come back to this place when we have another chance to visit Sacramento!
Flew in from out of state and came here for brunch- so glad we did! First of all$13 bottomless mimosas: please and thank you. Second, the food is great for the price. Got the chocolate chip pancake breakfast plate, was stuffed and buzzed to perfection by the end. Plus a riverfront seat in the cool Fall air was great!
Great place for brunch and bottomless mimosas! We made reservations which went well and sat by the water. Service was great and food was good. My besties favorite brunch spot so I will be back.
My spouse and I shared an appetizer of Calamari and a main course of Seafood Pasta (the meal was fresh and very tasty). The view of the River was amazing from the outside patio! When in the Sacramento area, we will be back again.
Scott is the BEST manager!!!
Always really enjoy going to eat here. It is an event!!
FYI: Be sure to order the Cheese Loaf to share!
Sat outside in wonderful weather........great food and experience! Perfect location!
Our visit to Rio City Cafe for a friend's birthday brunch was really good. We ordered the ahi tuna nacho appetizer that was excellent. Also ordered the salmon BLT, Caesar salad with prawns, crab melt and prime rib dip sandwich. We enjoyed all of our entrees. I was slightly disappointed when the Caesar salad had only four prawns for an additional $7 but they were quite tasty. The bottomless mimosas were also really nice.
Cool spot on the river. The party barge next to the rail is incredibly loud with terrible old club music blasting though. The place is a little grimy- worn down carpet and railings. Cobwebs on the rails. Could really use some remodeling and cleaning. Filet was meh. Prices seemed good for a filet with lobster but I understand why it seemed a little low- it matched the quality. Our server was fantastic though, very friendly and great service. Cheese bread was really good.
That Maple Bourbon filet was the best thing ever. Also, the host was great at accommodating us since we didn't want to sit in the sun. And the waitress found the perfect meals for our 2 vegan guests.
As always we had a wonderful brunch with the best view in Sacramento. The food wa good and the service was very good.
Usually I have only great things to say about Rio City cafe. Brunch was just ok. Our plates clearly sat in the window too long as it was not even warm and the tortilla chips had completely soaked up all of the sauce in the chilaquiles, melted cheese was completely solid. Oddly I have never had scrambled eggs in chilaquiles nor was that mentioned, it is usually an over easy or sunny side up egg. Everyone else seemed to like their meals although they were not warm either. I'll probably still go back again but will return the food in the future. Unfortunately my dining partner needed to make a flight so we could not send it back.
Food was lukewarm, small portion for price, way too long to get food, server rarely checked on us, never acknowledged special occasion.
Beautiful location for an early evening right on the river. Thank you Sean for a GREAT Old Cuban cocktail! :)
This was our first time to Rio City and found the food to be delicious and well presented. Our server was attentive but not overbearing. We sat on the patio which has a lovely view of the river but the area near the serving station could use a good cleaning - cob webs and bird 'do' on the lights and railing.
We will be back but hope they do a bit of house cleaning.
I love Rio City Cafe - Sacramento. We wanted to be 'on the river' and this evening didn't disappoint. Received a table right at the water's edge. Food was fabulous (especially the ahi tuna caprese appetizer). My only issue was that because the night was a bit slower our server disappeared once we were ready to pay the bill (yes, we stayed longer). We had to search for someone to help us. Sort of made the ending a bit sad given the rest of the experience. But I would go back, definitely
Relaxing ambience, spectacular service and great food. Thanks for making this get together with friends a memorable experience!!
