Rio City Café - Sacramento
Rio City Cafe is situated in beautiful historic Old Sacramento, overlooking some of the most prominent landmarks in Sacramento. The Sacramento River runs by our spacious outdoor patio, with spectacular views of the historic Tower Bridge and the Ziggurat (pyramid) building.
Rio City Cafe opened its doors in May of 1994. We display a comfortably casual setting, with indoor and outdoor seating. We can accommodate large parties and banquets, as well as private parties in our banquet room for special occasions. Or just simply enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine and the view in the outdoor cocktail area. During the colder months, enjoy the view from inside near our cozy fireplace.
Red and Blue Crab, served with Fire Roasted Green Chile Salsa and Sriracha Aioli
Lightly Dusted Fried Calamari and Lemon Wheels served with Sriracha Aioli
We had a bad experience dealing with the hostess however had excellent service from our Carrie
We had a wonderful time - the service was spot on, and the food and drinks were delicious. We had a table on the patio, which did have a terrific view, but was incredibly windy. It made for a bit of a challenge when lettuce from our salads blew away! Obviously not something anyone has control over, so I give 5 stars overall!
Hostesses ignored us while both on the phone. Rude way to not be greeted. Server was great.
My family and I came here to celebrate Mother's Day brunch together, but the service and food were horrible. The waiter was not pleasant to be serving. Our food was cold, had no flavor, and tasted old. We definitely won't be back.
Our server Jarrod was fantastic! He took the time to answer our questions about the menu and make suggestions on drinks. The ambiance was fantastic as we were sitting on the outside patio watching the boats go by. It was a little loud just due to the boat's music, but that is nothing that the restaurant could do about that. I would definitely come back again for the great food and service!
Beautiful day to eat out by the river.
One of our favorite restaurants both for occasions as well as just because it’s a beautiful day. The food is consistently good and so is the service.
Mother’s Day on Saturday. I’m really glad we made a reservation weeks in advance. The restaurant is very busy and located in old Sacramento and now business is picking up towards the end of Covid. The food selection was excellent as well as the waitress and there was no wait because we made reservations. Typically it’s nice to sit outside but it was very windy so we sat next to a fireplace and it was lovely. So nice! We tried the sourdough cheese bread that was crunchy and cheesy and placed on balsamic vinegar as an appetizer. The fish and chips is great and others ordered the salads and they were all good
Favorite restaurant! Always a Fabulous dining experience
Great place to sit outside and enjoy the ambience and the weather!
My dining is often, but that doesn’t mean things shouldn’t b up to par. Rio City Cafe could improve their freshness of food, especially seafood, especially the crab.
The hostess to b blunt was a young snotty girl.
I ignored it bcuz I’m not going 2 bother arguing w/ someone like that.
The manager came out & gave us a much better table. Which should b correct since I had made my reservation quite a bit n advance.
The waiter was very nice, but he was a bit slow at times bcuz he had friends eating there that he was visiting. But we did like him, he was very nice as I said.
Thank u 2 the manager who helped w/ the seating arrangement so we could b comfortable & enjoy our time.
First time I had gotten together with my 3 sisters I over year. Great service, sitting outside near water fabulous! Wonderful first time out in so many tough months. Awesome
Love the view and the fish and chips! The wait staff were very courteous!
Friendly staff and great food, nice view of the river.
Great service and great food.
Excellent service and delicious fare & cocktails!
Best Brunch and Bottomless Mimosas in Sacramento.
You just cannot go wrong with a river view, outdoor patio lunch at Rio City Café, especially on a beautiful spring afternoon. Add to that a delicious crab and shrimp louie, and service by professional wait staff who are among the most skilled and talented servers in the city of Sacramento. Result: a perfect lunchtime dining experience.
Birthday. They didn’t do anything for the birthday - no comped dessert or card signed by staff or free bday drink 🤷♀️ that was disappointing
What a glorious setting! and the food and service to match. I love this Cafe.
Always love going here as our server was amazing. The filet medallions were a bit dry and the new sauce is a no go. A balsamic reduction is always better but they are trying something new. Always a great place though !
My husband and I were not too hungry so we each had salads and he had calamari and I had coconut shrimp everything was good.
As always food was superb. I tried your new salmon chopped salad. My new favorite. Andrea was our server. She has waited on us before & she is always fabulous!! 5 Star evening. So happy you have reopened
We had a great lunch the Ahi Poke, crab melt, fish and chips, and chicken sandwich were all delicious. We enjoyed the view of the river from the patio as well.
We went for lunch on Thursday and everything was exceptional. Food was delicious, although I wanted a steak; it was lunch. Patio seating is always amazing.
Our server was amazing and the owner came out to say hello as well. It was their first day of opening up after COVID restrictions. The whole experience was pleasant and relaxing. I loved the food too.
We were there on opening day. - April 12th to celebrate a birthday. Perfect evening.👏👏👏👏👏
I was really excited about dining here with a few close friends and when we arrived the restaurant was closed. I'm not sure why I was able to book a reservation if the restaurant wasn't going to be open.
Restaurant was closed...
Dinner was good. Recommended tip percentages on the receipt are way off even if you include the tax in the calculation. 15% was actually 19%, 18% was 25%, and 20% was 30%.
Service is always great but the food is absolutely delicious! Every time I go I try something different and it's always delicious!
Asked for a sunset view, was told they had a "ood" spot for us. Ended up with a table smack dab in the middle. Asked our waiter if we could move to another table. He had to check and comes back with a "I'm sorry". Told him the guy said he had a "good" table for us, can you go ask him where that one is? Hw says how about that one? Yes. Go ahead and take it! Saved it! Was there for the sunset! She was impressed. Tip earned! Thank you Waiter!!!!
Nice ambiance. The seafood chowder and crab cakes were excellent!
The food was very good. My steak salad was perfect! The noise level was quiet but that may have been due to it being a Tuesday night with outdoor/tent dining!
During the Covid situation it was so nice to dine outside on the River and still feel warm and safe. The food was awesome, both had Chinese Chicken Salads and freshly baked bread. The server was very attentive and nice. It was a very enjoyable lunch and outing. Please go and support the kind folks at Rio City.
Quality of food was subpar compared to the prices...
The drink are great and food was good.
Delicious food, great ambiance and friendly staff.
View was nice, not to crowded. Drinks were goof, coconut Shrimp was awesome and crispy. Salmon was over cooked & rice undercooked asparagus was good..
Our server, Catherine, couldn’t have been better. My prime rib dip was over cooked but still ok with dip & horseradish sauce. Fruit crumble dessert was excellent.
