Got to the pub for our booking. It was closed. We went to the front desk of the hotel and they said “yeah it’s closed. And they don’t take reservations anyway it’s walk in when open”.

This was our first opportunity to take in this pub. We were impressed and we will definitely return. The service was very good and enjoyed the environment. Food was very good and did not take long to be served. Keep up the good work.

There was an extreme language barrier with our server, not French or English. It was extremely quiet on a rainy Saturday night. It was like hotel guests didn’t know it was there. Not a lot of pub menu options but the nachos and drinks were good.

We have been to the Right Whale a few times. We love the atmosphere, and the menu is excellent. The service is normally excellent. Why the poor review? I made a reservation on OpenTable for the Right Whale for my spouse's birthday. We booked a night at the Algonquin hotel and were very excited about supper at the Right Whale. We are from nearby Saint John and had to drive almost an hour. The Right Whale was closed. Apparently they are closed on Thursdays. I have no problem with them being closed on certain days, but they really need to update their availability on OpenTable. We ended up eating at the hotel restaurant upstairs, but it was nowhere near as good. I will go back to the Right Whale next time that I'm in St Andrews, but I will have to make a reservation by phone.

The restaurant embraces the theme of an English pub. It is definitely a hotel restaurant, but the food quality is excellent and the attentiveness to service is high. Somewhat pricier than one would expect - but, again, it is a hotel restaurant. Recommended.
