The food is so fresh and interesting. I have ordered the duck, pork, veggie pastas and all were amazing. The fries ,the pull apart rolls and poached pear salad are a must.
The food was fabulous! Service was good, but there is an opportunity for improvement in description of wine/dishes in tasting menu. It was also a bit slow. Our table was in a terrible spot in a walkway to kitchen, and the workers kept bumping into me. Overall, good. I'll go back and ask to sit somewhere else.
The food was delicious and the service was great. I was surprised when we were done with a show at the Paramount, we went back to the bar and last call was 10pm.
Exciting, delicious food with Pacific NW theme. I had the pear toast with pine nuts and Douglas Fir syrup, followed by sturgeon. The open range - with flames - added to the atmosphere. Fun evening. Recommend.
After drinks our server never came back and the other server we flagged down to put our order in with forgot to put our order in, we left for a show with having 2 cocktails (1 friend was never even asked if she wanted a drink) and no dinner.
Excellent food - unique, flavorful and well balanced. Great service too - thank you!
The service and food was fabulous. I can’t wait to go back
The crab toast one of the best things about the meal. Loved sitting at the fire pit. Overall great experience.
Sat around for an hour, got served drinks and one potato chip (with a small spoon of tuna and a few eggs of caviar). It was ok, but for the price, not close to fine dining. Had to ask if the rest of the food was coming 30 mins later. They then brought it right away, apologized, but at that point it was obvious that this was not going to be a meal worth $95 per person for their set menu (which was not a thing when we made the reservation, only 2 weeks ago). We paid for the drinks, tipped well because the waiter was the only person serving the whole room on New Years, and then we left. Definitely won’t be returning or recommending.
New Year's Eve menu was fabulous and did not disappoint. The oysters were fresh, the steak had fabulous flavor and the service was on point. Love this place and cannot wait to return!
This is an all time favorite in Seattle. The food is out of this world and the staff is some of the friendliest that you’ll ever meet. We especially love Rachel, I would definitely ask for her!
First time visit for us. The prefixe menu was wonderful. Service great. The wine pairing was enjoyable with our dinner. A splendid way to celebrate New Years Eve. the evening was perfect. Will return to try the regular menu.
Three words: pull apart rolls
Exceptional service and attention from the kitchen. Duck was delicious (ruined for life now...) service was excellent.
Relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
The ambience was very lively and, at times, too loud to communicate effectively with our server.
The service was very challenged, slow and intermittent.
The cuisine was truly disappointing, the entrees with excessive ingredients poorly integrated, tepid warm and very high salt content.
The two chefs did not respond to our email concerns.
Very poor dining value.
We went to rider for the first time Christmas Eve. Walked in about 20 min earlier then our reservation, which seemed to annoy the hostess. There was clearly enough available seats to accommodate us, but it still seemed to bother them. Our waitress was less then attentive and didn’t even go over the special Christmas Eve menu. Another couple was sat next to us where they got the full experience. (Was back for the second night in a row). Not only did we watch this couple get treated like royalty, where the entire wait staff came over to say hi and welcome back. Our food was dropped by another waiter, and our server never once stopped by to check on us till it was time to pay. For a well over $200 dinner, I would not suggest going here and won’t be returning.
Really disappointed. Advertised king crab Christmas eve dinner for the last.month and we get there and it's not on the menu. I think that's called false advertising. Server was great. But won't be back for awhile.
We dined on Christmas Eve and the food was divine. Because it was an early dinner we chose from the starters and sides portion of the menu to keep it light. We enjoyed the cioppino, chowder, herbed fries and crab mashed potatoes. Every dish was 5 star. Great service and ambience, too! Highly recommend.
The entire experience was outstanding! Wonderful food and we felt well taken care of by the staff. We will definitely be back.
Terrible waitress didn’t listen well and took way too long considering the small amount of customers. Food was tasty but slightly overpriced. If it lasts we may give it another go.
Awesome service and terrific waitress. Food ok. Frittata not that good.
Our server was great but we hit a few bumps that were unfortunate. First we had to send back dirty martinis, they did not taste good at all and had a strange sweetness that a martini shouldn't have. Second, food was decent but not amazing but they were very aware of our time constraints and by the time we got the food, only had about 15 minutes to eat. Finally, one of the 3 mains came even later and a last side was forgotten. They took a good amount off of the bill but still was not a very relaxing dining experience.
I was disappointed in my choice of cioppino (which was light on the seafood content) and tossed winter greens salad but my dining companions had fantastic meals from the entrée selection. The donuts are to die for. The service was friendly.
This place lost a star for being overly and annoyingly noisy. It lost another star because it's owned by the disreputable Gordon Sondland.
Excellent food, outstanding service, nice to meet the chef when he came to our table.
I came here for my birthday and everything they did made me feel really special and celebrated. The food was outstanding and the service was too!
Waiter was marvelous. Black cod was beyond delicious. Also loved the ricotta and pear bruschetta, and the pinot noir. Appetizer came very quickly, we got worried about making the Mark Morris show while waiting for the fish, but we ate fast -- it was SOOO good. It's always a real treat when it's not just about the MAIN (cod) but the awesome accompaniments -- the contrasts in texture, heat, color, sweet vs. pickled, crunch vs. pillowy. This was a great meal.
I'd give Rider 10 stars if I could! The food was exquisite, the service friendly and efficient, and the cocktails original. A Sunday night post-theater, so I don't know if it's always as relaxingly quiet, but it was a nice change from some of those incredibly loud restaurants. So many tempting dishes on the menu, but I opted for the Dungeness crab toast (mmmm!) and the carrot gnocchi (double mmmm!) My daughter says try the duck. We both agree we have to go back to try some of the other goodies. Rider has been there two years - how did we miss it?!
The tasting menu was phenomenal.
It was one of the best meals I’ve had. The ambiance is awesome. Service was ok.
The food was okay, but not worth the price. Our server seemed very uncomfortable describing the food and wines. Expected better.
It made me sad they never even mentioned my birthday and it was on the reservation
Overall really good food.. really liked the experience. Good vibe
Great food and drink. Went back for lunch next day. Gin Gimlets and the fried chicken burger. For dinner the oysters and fish.
Hostess didn’t connect me with my client and we sat at different tables until we connected ourselves...
A fun energetic room with open kitchen and beautiful wood fired grill. Plates are beautifully presented and are utterly enjoyable. Chef Mallahan strikes a wonderful balance of non pretentious Pacific Northwest flavors that are both elegant and soulful. Truly delicious.
Absolutely amazing! Loved the food and the service. Will definitely try again
The food and our server, excellent! If it weren't for OpenTable, we wouldn't have gotten in. We were told by someone at the door (not the hostess) that there were no openings for a party our size for 3 hours. I quickly booked us through OpenTable for a table in 30 minutes. Thank you OpenTable for allowing us to dine at Rider--I highly recommend!
Delicious fresh and seasonal ingredients, with great enthusiastic staff and a cool ambiance.
Great waitress, great gin & tonic but for the price the food was inconsistent. Shaved porchetta starter included excellent calamari tentacles but the remainder of the dish was mediocre. Squash dumplings were pretty much featureless, dinner partner's halibut was overcooked. Appears recipes are aimed at being creative combinations of ingredients without considering how those ingredients blend & complement each other.
