Asked for steak to be cooked medium rare. Came out medium well. Server left it at the table while waiting for a new steak to be fired. Brought the new steak to the table on a small bread plate and still did not remove original steak from the table. Server barely offered an apology. Will not return and do not recommend.

Arriving at 5:30 and just not getting the service we were expecting. Had a concert to get to and bearly bade it at 7:30. A 20% gratuity was included…. We will not be back.

Service was slow, meat was overcooked. Such a shame. Used to be a great restaurant.

Food took forever to arrive. I had to get up and ask for dinners to be served. One of the entrées was a hamburger that was so overdone. It was like a hockey puck.

I hadn't been to Rider since pre-COVID and wanted to revisit to see if it was good as it was before. Bottom line, it was not. I made a rez via Open Table and my companion and I were seated in the bar. The service was great, two servers were very attentive, maybe because we were pretty much the only patrons there during the lunch hour. My companion ordered the steak sandwich which she said was very good, cooked just right. I ordered the roasted salmon which according to the menu included "sunchokes, chardonnay lemon sauce, ikura". The small piece of salmon was all by itself on a large plate in a sauce. No sides, just a small piece of salmon for $34. It was good, but certainly not enough to fill me up and not for that price. My companion ordered a Coke and I ordered a Diet Coke. When the bill came, hers was $5.00 and mine was $6.00. First of all, way too expensive for a soft drink and why was the diet a buck more??! When the server brought the bill he explained there was a +20% surcharge added which was to be split among all kitchen staff. OK, I get that, but he went on to say I could add more if I wanted. At nearly $100 for a lunch for two, I opted-not to. Bottom line Rider is ridiculously overpriced and the food was meh. Not planning on going there again anytime soon.

My party of 6 (mostly international visitors) showed up without a reservation around 8:55pm (they close at 11pm) after seeing there are plenty of reservation available at 9pm and 9:15pm. The restaurant was quite empty but the hostess told us they don’t have any tables for us. I asked if we can be seated in two separate table then. She still said no. I opened up Opentable and booked a table for 6 and showed her I have a reservation now. She took a few minutes going back and forth the dining room and told us we will have to wait about 5-10 minutes for them to set up the table. I inquired anout her earlier comment about no table being available when obviously there were. She couldn’t give me a good answer. A manager showed up and offered no apology when I further asked what the earlier situation was about. The server was amazing but the hostess was the worst.

Nice swanky interior of the old Vohn's location, with a musky woodfire smell. Prices are a bit high on lower end entrees trying to be closer to more expensive protein entrees. Who wants to pay $37 for a burger and fries? Over priced chicken Caesar salad had orange age spots on several pieces of lettuce that was noticeable when server put plate down, then found more. Pork chop came sliced which let the moisture evaporate out (odd), smashed potatoes that came with lacked seasoning and came on separate plate which also was odd, paired with a chimmichurri that only tasted of olive oil and weeds as it was not cut up fine enough. Flavorings on pork was good. The rigatoncini was also good thanks to the bolognese but the lamb was minced too much to tell what meat it really was. Service and ambiance was good although the woodfire smell was strong and the 20% added gratuity although stated in the bill, was not pointed out by the server my guess so that they would get double. Not enough pluses here to come back which is too bad cuz the location is perfect for attending a nearby show. Many levels, bathrooms are up several stairs, several.

Don't be confused by the simple sign on the building on Pine Street in Seattle. RIDER is an impressive restaurant. As tourists in town we followed the advice of the concierge in our hotel to try RIDER. It was a perfect place to celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary. Our waiter was friendly and knew the menu. The pasta dish with mushrooms hit the spot. The hamachi was delicate. The pear sorbet refreshing. Try it; you'll like it.
