On Open table it was saying Indian but it is actually South Asian fusion. So we were surprised but excited. Very good food and service I must say. Well done.
Tasty takes on traditional flavours! I would eat here again to explore other menu options.
This was hard to judge as the flavours were good and our waitress was friendly. However, I had a reaction to the food so please beware if you have allergies.
Amazing food, wine, people and service!!!! Can't wait to go back again!!!!
Group of 5 for a birthday celebration, accommodated putting candles in the dessert. Bar tender makes amazing cocktails! Service is very friendly 2 thumbs up. Food flavourful with a little spice nothing to hot for those who can't take it.
Place is very tiny making for a loud evening it didn't matter we enjoyed ourselves.
Seating is at a premium being 5 they turned the tables giving just enough seating and elbow room.
We were surprised to hear the lamb shank was out at 7pm, otherwise food was great.
Need to hang a curtain at the entrance to shield patrons from the cold air of the door opening/closing my only complaint.
Bathrooms are very clean.
We shared a variety of the "snacks" and ordered two mains which feed all 5 of us.
Cocktails are a bit pricey but was a fun and tasty evening.
Overall wouldn't hesitate to return.
Favourite restaurant in town! Must do the tasting menu!
Food was really flavourful and delicious. The tasting menu was not a great value, I'd go with individual dishes next time, but I'd definitely go back. The cocktails were also very enjoyable.
The menu is unique. The food was delightful. Everything was exceptional. The only negative is that it's very noisy when you are sitting in the middle of the restaurant.
Great staff, service and food. Servers are very knowledgeable about the menu. A definite must!
My husband and I were visiting Toronto and Rickshaw Bar was reconvened to us by a local barista. We made a reservation since we were only in town for a short time and did not want to miss the chance to eat here. We ordered two chefs dinners and were completely blown away by the flavor and presentation of each dish. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. This was one of the best meals I have had in life.
Great food, friendly staff, not super expensive and decent sized portions, all around a good experience I'll definitely be back.
Food was great- server had an attitude problem
This is one of the most unique cuisine experiences across the country. I come here almost on every visit i make to Toronto. I would highly recommend this restaurant to all foodies. This restaurant introduces you to an Asian -African dining that is rich in flavour and inter culture creativity.
We had the Brussels Sprouts, Lamb Shank and Shrimp. So tasty!!!
The food at Rickshaw is exciting and eclectic- so fresh and delicious - I will be a regular.
I had a terrific meal after a matinee theatre performance just down the street. Food was delicious, atmosphere/music set the mood - love the decor - and service was very friendly, offering helpful descriptions of dishes to try.
Absolutely delicious. I've never been anything but extremely pleased with the quality of food and high level of service. Rickshaw is one of my fav, go-to spots.
Yum yum yum!
Amazing service, flavourful food and great atmosphere. I would return here time and time again.
I’ve been to this restaurant 3 times. The food here is absolutely delicious. The servers are super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The drinks have a creative Indian twist to them.
However, the last time I was here, I felt the standards had dropped ever so slightly. Also, they took off my favourite dish of the menu - Jerk Mutton Dosa
One of my favourite spots in the city! Very interesting menu, and are amazing when it comes to accommodating allergies :)
Wonderful food. Never disappoints. One of the most creative menus in the city
Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. Great atmosphere, dim lighting, great food, great service. We stepped outside to leave and it was pouring and the waiter ran out and gave us an extra umbrella they had. Very nice experience :).
I think the food was overall good and the ambience and service was really good. I think the food however, could have been improved upon. The Pakora Bravas was more like french fries than actual pakoras, coming from a South Asian background myself. And the mung bean chaat didn't really have that much of a chaat like consistency, could have had more beans (or added chickpeas), maybe more sauces, yoghurt, tamarind, etc. The beef tacos and fried chicken were good. Overall we liked it, and would come again, perhaps to try to the entrees and dessert.
Excellent food and service. Creative and interesting tasting menu with so many delightful dishes it was difficult to pick a favourite. My partner loved it so much he is bringing back his team for dinner.
Amazing server! Delicious, interesting food, full of flavour!
2nd time here. The tasting menu is the way to go. You won’t leave hungry. Service is always great and the cocktails are tasty as well.
Simply stated, there is no one who is doing what Noreen is doing right now at Rickshaw.
The consistency of the experience, the perfect integration of spice and flavour will exceed your expectations whether this is your 1st or 10th visit.
She is the real thing. A true chef bringing ingredients together in a unique and creative way.
This was a nicely decorated, comfortable restaurant. Service was excellent, the food in my opinion, less so.
The seafood dish had a lot of noodles, but not much seafood. The short rib dish was a long bone covered in beef and fat.
The chickpea and potato curry dish was small and kind of boring.
The chicken appetizer was a star. It was moist, crispy and flavourful. The naan was fresh and delicious. The pakora dish was different from traditional Indian restaurants in that it included fried strips of something in a vegetarian concoction. I couldn’t determine the ingredients. It was alright.
Everyone’s taste is different. I didn’t love the food here and am unlikely to return.
Delcious appetizers and extremely polite staff. Cocktails were delicious. Really loved the overall dining experience. However, the main dishes are not as tasty as the appetizers.
Combination of different styles
The Burmese chicken and the cocktails were amazing. The beef curry and mung been chaat lacked oomph. I think the chef has more oomph and shouldn't shy away from showing Toronto the true flavors of each dish
Fantastic as always!
Wow. Chef’s menu was magnificent. Great value too!
Excellent and eclectic. When I saw this on Open Table, I was intrigued by the unusual menu, so we decided to try it. We had an excellent meal. For appetizers, we had the eggplant dip and the something called 685 chicken (might be misremembering). Both were wonderful — very flavorful and unusual. For main dishes, my wife had a curry shrimp dish which was very good. I had a spicy Thai basil duck which was excellent. I hope to have an opportunity to go back soon.
Almost forgot: The naan is to die for. Best I ever had.
For my family, a dinner out usually means visiting a cookie-cutter establishment so my pickier family members (I won't name names, I'm not an animal) can enjoy their meal. You can imagine my surprise when, after an initial visit to Rickshaw Bar for my birthday (the ultimate, impossible-to-argue excuse), my family insisted they come down from the suburbs for a second visit because they simply didn't get to try enough of Chef Noureen's eclectic, flavourful and heart-and-soul-filling dishes. Let's remember the travesty that is driving through the DVP to understand how delicious Rickshaw Bar's food is to drag them through that hell. Thrilled that Chef Noureen has agreed to join Mealshare which means soon guests will be able to share a simple, healthy meal with a youth in need simply by ordering one of her designated Mealshare dishes.
Love the food here! They recently changed up the menu options and they are even better! Shareable dinner options for meat eaters, and a ton of delicious veggie appetizers for people looking for something light to accompany drinks!
Brittany was great as she provided impeccable service
We absolutely loved Rickshaw bar from the moment we walked in. Great menu, cozy atmosphere and wonderful service.
It was our anniversary. We love Rickshaw Bar. We’d been there once before and were blown away. This time was no different. We got the chef’s tasting menu and every dish was insanely good. We’re already planning our next dinner at Rickshaw!
