Rick Erwin's West End Grille
Wonderful, as usual!
What a beautiful restaurant! Out of all Rick Erwin’s restaurants we love this one due to its quaint feeling. It’s quiet and the staff makes you feel like you are the only patron. The chef and Rick Erwin stopped by our table and everyone’s table! French onion soup was divine. Lobster Mac and cheese was excellent. We had a filet that was out of this world. Great place for a special occasion!
Elizabeth is a wonderful server!
We had a lovely evening at Rick Erwin’s. Nice table with a street view, nice service, very tasty chopped salad, wonderful pork belly appetizer, a lovely Chateauneuf du Pape and an excellent dessert. Unfortunately our dry aged Delmonico was disappointing, horribly so considering it was priced at $58!! At $25-30 it would have been passable. At $58 it was almost criminal. I should have sent it back but I hadn’t paid attention to the price until I reviewed our check. There are probably some excellent entrees on the menu but I can’t suggest any, and I ‘d surely not order another steak.
It was our 21st anniversary and everyone at the restaurant went out of their way to make the evening special. A signed card from the staff and owner was waiting for us at our table. Our waiter, Jason, was outstanding and started us off with a champagne toast. The food was delicious, especially the drowned brownie sundae that capped off our meal. We were so happy we chose Rick Erwin’s for our anniversary dinner!
Rick Irwin’s never disappoints! Great food and awesome service!
I have been making my way through the restaurant scene in Greenville for the past 2 years. I have hit all of the mainstays and most popular spots and Rick Erwin's West End is at the top of the list. Their steaks were better than any of the others and the service was incredible. The wine list is very good as well. I have now made this my new go to spot and will walk the extra 2 blocks from the river and bypass my previous go to
I've fined at Rick Erwin's West End Grille several times. This particular time was very special, as my fiancée and I were staying at our wedding hotel a few months before our wedding as a fun vacation. It wrote that I wanted the staff to do something special for us. That simple request resulted in us getting a private booth, with a custom placard saying Mr. and the Future Mrs, [last name]. We are so happy. Also, seeing the assistant manager fill water and help the wait stuff showed me how much the staff truly cares about the dining experience. It may be more expensive than other options, but it is well worth the money. Simply put - it it's a special occasion, there is no better choice in Greenville.
We went to Rick's for our anniversary. We had a nice table at the windows. Dinner was great. But the waiter had sweat rolling down his face, dripping... And we kind of expected at least a treat that was complimentary for our anniversary, but received nothing. Kinda of disappointed.
We were there to celebrate a birthday. Long story short, our “Porterhouse For Two” which was $125 was over cooked and so was our Alaskan King Crab legs. We ordered the steak medium rare and it was medium well. The crab was dried out, dense and hard.
We frequent this location a lot since we live in the West End. We have dinner for two there at least once a month and I usually hold larger work related dinner parties there as well.
Bottom line is I’m getting tired of paying a premium and getting less than in quality as it relates to my meal and dinner on the 6th wasn’t a one off fluke as it relates to meal quality.
I love the restaurant, location and bar. The service and atmosphere is great however the meal quality is lacking. The manager on duty that evening was wonderful and was extremely accommodating in correcting the issue. However, for what the cost is, things should be great not average or less than.
I have always preferred Rick Erwin’s to Halls. Going forward I realize I get a better and more consistent meal at Halls.
Great dining experience. Top of the line wine selection and the best cuts of meats! Loved the family size side dishes and the Mac and Cheese unique and delicious. Several of our party had the Surf and Turf and it exceeded all expectations. The steaks were cooked to order and had a wonderful flavor. The next time we visitGreenville, we will be sure to return for another great meal.
Rick Erwin's never disappoints
It was great food. Great atmosphere. Great service. We really enjoyed ourselves.
Bryan, our server, was excellent, but it took an unusually long time to get our food. That being said, the kitchen obliged us by preparing a long-time favorite that is no longer on the menu. So that may partially explain the delayed delivery of our food. Overall, a good experience and all staff members who were involved with our visit were excellent.
First time eating there and man what at treat it was. With Valet parking ,to the very professional waiter , and last but not least the outstanding food! It was a wonderful evening for my wife and I.
First time. Had specials. Steak good/ok but the halibut was a good fish but way too spicy which took away from the fish itself. Had asked about spice and was told not too spicey but waiter came back later and said oh there are jalapenos in the potato mixture. Also as the other waiter at another table had recommended splitting the salads due to size but we forgot to ask and our waiter never mentioned it so we ended up wasting money and food.
Cheesecake could have been from Publix which is good but not for an exclusive restaurant? A half a strawberry, a dot of cream and a spoonful of syrup..another waste of $$$. We go to many high quality restaurants for good food and this one needs a little more as far as being top quality. Check out restaurants at Hilton Head and the Gulf Coast like Villagio(less $$$)Else's, Redfish are just a few that may help
Otherwise overall nice but too pricey.
Fabulous pre show dinner - Chef was visiting at the tables and recommended a few specials for us and he was spot on! Service was top notch!
Has always been my favorite in Greenville UNTIL this experience. Had to wait to be seated. Background music was way too loud. Waitress was pleasant had an accent that was hard to understand. Caprese salad was good. Calamari tasted good but was a bit soggy. I had the papperdelle pasta with lamb meatballs. Both the pasta and the lamb were over cooked.
Was VERY disappointed. Hopefully just an off night...
My husband and I went there for a parent’s night out on Friday night. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was good and abundant. Ambient a bit dark in my opinion. The only flaw was the price. I think we paid too much for what we got. I saw a bottle of wine we usually buy at Total Wine proceed three times over.
One of best places to have a steak in town. Service was excellent and timely as we were headed to a play that night
Don't fall for this place. It's a very mediocre steak house. The fried tomatoes were over fried. The Ceasar Salad was drenched in dressing. I ordered my Filet Mignon MR it came out MW. The server told me they cut down the middle and it was cooked perfectly. The next one came out virtually raw. The over salted the meat. It was an overall very bad experience.
Amazing food and wonderful experience!
All of Rick Erwin's restaurants have their own unique attributes but if you want something truly special, look no further than West End Grille. The service is impeccable and the food is inventive. Expect the classic steakhouse dishes to be done flawlessly and get inspired to try something new (like the grilled octopus).
The Waite Staff was very nice but the food was not awful. We asked for our steaks to be medium well but they came back charred and tasting burned. We have never experienced this at any Rick Erwin Restaurant. I had an 11 oz filet and lobster tail and my wife had the Skirt Steak and both were charred and tasted burned. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants and date spots.
This was the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary. The food was perfect (I forget how good a really great steak can be). The service was great. The waiter’s recommendations were perfect. Really enjoyable evening!!
Excellent on all levels! Enjoyed a wonderful Mother’s Day brunch with family and friends.
Wonderful service as always. The quiche came out underdone but they made it right and gave us a free dessert. Food was outstanding.
Our first visit to this restaurant and certainly not our last... excellent all the way around!! We had made a reservation for Mothers-day... a Sunday when they are not usually open. Walking in the ambiance is as you would expect in a higher end steakhouse. We ordered the crab cakes and burrata appetizers, both excellent... as was the French onion soup! Our entrees consisted of the Surf & Turf and a black and blue filet... with sides of au gratin potatoes and roasted mushrooms... perfectly prepared. The wine list is extensive... with some very nice selections. Great service all around! Will definitely revisit!!
The food was amazing and our server Joey was great!!
Had a wonderful graduation celebration. Thank you!
The food was very good and the servers were friendly and accommodating.
The noise level for a table of 6 made conversations difficult.
Birthday and college graduation
Was great! Jason was a great server. Food was awesome as well
Everything was Excellent
Lovely meal start to finish. Excellent service. Perfect steak. Delicious shrimp cocktail, she crab soup & burrata salad. Wonderful wine recommendation.
Our party ended up being only 8. My wife loves the filet and lobster but I had gotten and order of asparagus so she asked if she could have an onion ring as a substitute for the asparagus that came with her meal. The waiter came back and said that they could for an up-charge. I got an order instead and will
probably remember it when I come back to Greenville.
I was very impressed with the wait staff, the ambience. The food was a little pricey for what was placed on the plate. I will revisit this location.
Overall, a very pleasant experience. The service was outstanding.
