Richard's Ratings and Reviews
We were very disappointed had not been to the new location but had enjoyed or meals at the old location. Service was great but my entree was cold and my wife’s was mushy we both had pasta dishes. Very disappointing and for the money spent we will not go back.
The prices are a great deal for how nice the experience feels. They are always really sweet and give great service. Our waitress accidentally left us to decide on dessert for ten minutes, and she comped our dessert. That was so sweet and unnecessary. We’ll definitely be back.
Food and service were good, but the bench style table seating was a real disappointment, especially at their price point. Don't choose this place for a special occasion unless you want to have an intimate conversation with the folks seated at the table 18 inches away from you.
We celebrated my wife's birthday at Sunday Brunch. This was our 1st visit. It was a very comfortable and romantic atmosphere. The hostess was engaging and wished my wife a happy birthday. Our server was great; very friendly and attentive. My "Breakfast Carbonara" was divine with a wonderfully creamy sauce, a true comfort food choice. I also enjoyed the bottomless Mimosa. The only minor disappointment was that my wife's breakfast pastries were a little dry. We had a wonderful experience and enjoyed a lingering conversation. This reminded us of our great experiences at Chef Richard Langston's former Café Vicino. The food and selections are great and the atmosphere is even better.
Overall a very good experience except my husband and I (a two top) sat between two six tops. Really? And of course both were filled. Why put a two top there??? Loud needless to say....
Food issues: butternut squash soup WAY too spicey.....never mentioned by waitress. Risotto was pure mushrooms.....!!! I have never had a risotto so full of mushrooms. I took most out.
I want to love this place. I'm a dedicated fan of Cafe Vicino and know what Richard can do. But, I found the food at Richard's very mediocre on two separate occasions. Pastas were rather bland while execution on other dishes were not up to Cafe Vicino standards. You can do better!
Very delicious menu. High end for Boise. Superb wait-person, (female) Kelly. She knew all about the wine list, and how to pair them with the foods we ordered. Restaurant is on a busy street with a wall of windows, which adds to the wonderful quiet, yet busy ambiance. Best pasta dish I've had in a looong time. Menu range: $31-60. I got out of there w/ parpadelle, beet salad, and a beefeater G&T for about $40 including tip, not including $5.00 parking at city garage. (There is a hotel/restaurant parking garage I didn't use.) All in all, very nice experience on every sensory level. Will definitely return.
My friend Becky didn't mind having another birthday (as much as she would have) because we had a great time at your fine restaurant. It was the first time Becky, her husband Ralph and myself, her dearest friend (right Becky?) ate at the new location. Our server was helpful in our menu selection and an appropriate wine for our meal choices. We were not disappointed! You still provide wonderful food, wine and excellent service! The ambiance was great; I loved having a view out the window. We will be back to celebrate more birthdays as they arise! Marjean Mueller
I ordered the portobello plate. It was very good. Not too happy with the fingerling potatoes, they were very blah and not that good. No flavor to them. My husband had a salmon dish with pasta, just average. My personal opinion, probably will not go back. Trendy place, too loud and below standard food for the price. Our servers we exceptional.
We went here for our anniversary. The service was great - attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. The food was great as well - the tomato basil soup is outstanding. We had the pork porterhouse and the prosciutto wrapped chicken - both were amazing!! We finished our meal with the chocolate hazelnut torte - super rich and heavenly!! We will be back.
We did the New Years Eve special which included 5 courses. We each had a different course and shared all.
Enjoyed 2/10 courses was all. =(
We both found the sherbet inedible as it contained WAY too much rosemary.
Several courses were just unappetizing.
Very bland flavors overall, nothing special and definitely wasn’t worth the $75 price tag per person.
Would not recommend at all, go to any number of other fine dining boise restaurants in town.
Very nice dinner and for the most part service was attentive although they did bring one item that was not for our table and then forgot bread the bread, so we had to ask. Took a bit long to get a dessert order...but, we were not in a hurry. The shrimp and risotto cakes were very tasty, the pappardelle with chicken meatballs was excellent. The duck breast was okay, nothing exceptional. Coconut crème brulee is different as it doesn't come with crispy top, but toasted coconut. Loved the tiramisu which was a very big slice, very rich and best to share. We have dined here before and one of our favorite places. We will be back....
