We had a marvelous lunch and cocktails o celebrate a birthday, Our server was very friendly and helpful. And we got a little birthday dessert, which waas delicous.
My wife had a pasta dish and I had the monkfish. Appetizer, salads and entrees were all excellent. Service was outstanding as always and we ate at our pace. One special thing to note on this great experience is that Richard was nowhere to be seen during the two plus hours we were there which is a true mark of success. He was off and the place hummed and the kitchen never missed a beat! Great staff, all!
This is our go-to before Boise Contemporary Theater performances - always good service and consistently good food and a nice ambiance. The menu has a range of price options and the variety is good.
The servers had trouble figuring out who’s table it was. We had to ask the hostess for a server. Once we had a server all went well.
The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the food. The portion was so small compared to the price and the pasta was under cooked and the clams were chewy.
I liked the dessert though.
Also, the atmosphere and the service was satisfying.
This was our first time at Richards and we were very impressed with the service and menu selection. The food was thoughtfully presented and was incredibly tasty! Richards offers many gluten free options which was appreciated. We'll be back!
Dinner was exceptional and Joel took very good care of my party to help celebrate my birthday.
Lovely dinner, exquisite service. Bonus 10% discount for Morrison Center show attendees. A shining star in Boise!
Excellent experience! One of the best restaurant experiences I have had in awhile in Boise. I’m definitely a foodie and was impressed with every aspect of my dinning experience. Thank you!
Great! Our first time at the new location. Parking was easy and the service was great.
We love Richard's! The canneloni is fabulous. An all-time favorite!
Hope they never take the scallops appetizer off the menu. A most excellent Manhattan.
First time diners at Richards, everything was delightful!
Menu is small, there weren’t many options that I would choose so I chose salad and the scallops on the appetizer menu, the scallops come on very sweet - sweet mashed potatoes and the scallops are smaller than expected.
The trout is crusted in potatoes, would be much better without the crust.
Ambiance is very nice but menu was not best for me so I don’t know if we will return.
Superb in every way!
Lovely ambiance and as always - incredible food.
My favorite restaurant in Boise, for special or non-special occasions. Simply the best.
Really enjoyed the good company of my friends. My food could have been a little warmer. The amophere was awesome.
We had a delicious Easter Sunday lunch. Service was excellent. We always enjoy dining at Richard’s for any meal.
Excellent Easter Sunday Brunch
We both had the asparagus omelet...cooked and seasoned perfectly.
Great service from BriAnna too!
Lovely Easter brunch! Great service and delicious food.
Food and service are both top quality. Personable and attentive service without being intrusive, and the food is beautifully presented and delicious. The burger was one of the best tasting I've had in town.
Richard is listed in Open Table as the second most expensive restaurant in Boise after the Coq d'Or . I am therefore expecting something superior.
That is not the case. The place is nice but the food is extremely common, the kind of food an average american family that watch occasionally the food channel could prepare in 20 minutes.
The wine list is average in size and present the few wines that everyone knows, nothing special here either. The service is correct. We were not proposed a dessert however, the waiter came with the bill before asking us if we needed anything else.
The service was wonderful and most of what we ordered was delicious, except for my lamb shank. The whole underside of the shank was pure fat and inedible, so I could only eat about half of it. They did bring out a birthday dessert for me as it was my birthday which was nice. I would still go back again and recommend them!
menu was not nearly as good as in the past. had dinner at Chandlers the following night and the menu and meal were much better
Best pasta and chef creations at a very reasonable price for excellent ingredients
Richards is an absolute favorite of mine. My husband and I are long time patrons of this establishment; the chef:owner more specifically.
We are never disappointed
We had the Portabella mushroom dish. It's refreshing to see an actual "vegetarian " dish on any restaurant menu. Most restaurants have "sides" that they offer for vegetarians.
The dish we enjoyed had many layers of flavors, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, farrow, and cumin-carrot mash. It was exceptional!
We are never disappointed when we dine at Richards.
Great food! Service is excellent. The menu is unique and has something for everyone. We will definitely be back soon.
Exceptionally friendly staff. The main proteins were delicious, but the accompanying sauces standout as the real superstars of the dishes. The polenta cakes are an excellent way to clean your plate of any residual sauce or gravy! SO VERY GOOD.
Food was really good, we look forward to coming back.
We went to Richards on a Sunday @ 2 to celebrate our daughter's promotion. We weren't aware that it would be a brunch menu instead of a lunch menu. The food was tasty and the ambience was good, but we were hoping for a broader lunch menu.
This is a nice restaurant with food that I would otherwise rate as excellent if marketed at a lower price point.
Plating was on-point, but unfortunately parts of the meal left much to be desired.
The shrimp appetizer was over-cooked.
The Caesar salad's dressing had a sweet twist on a classic take. My number one complaint like so many "fancy" restaurants these days, the salad is very pretty, but how do I eat it. The moment I have to take a knife to lettuce is the moment you've lost me on the form versus function argument. The dressing was evenly drizzled over the lettuce stalks though, so I did not have to make a mess of things just to eat it all.
The Monkfish lacked flavor, even the Romesco sauce couldn't save it. The best part of the entree was the olives, which on an exceptional dish would have just been the icing on the cake, but on a mediocre dish they shouldn't outshine the central concept. While I like cous cous, eating it with the monkfish conjured up images of said fish trawling the ocean floor and I was now eating the sand.
The chocolate hazelnut cake could more accurately be described as chocolate cake with hazelnuts. Important distinction, my wife was expecting the hazelnut to be integrated, not chunks sprinkled on the backside.
Not all was lost, my wife's chicken entree was quite pleasant and spiced nicely, some of the accompaniments fell a little flat, but unlike the monkfish the chicken was the star and it showed.
My tiramisu cheesecake was also quite nice and cleverly constructed with each layer of a classic cheesecake representing one function of a tiramisu.
My wife and I love to eat, to part out our food and dig into the details of ingredients. It's how we enjoy it most; so while I may sound harsh, I've torn apart nicer restaurants than this one and in greater detail.
Fun spot for two couples to eat and visit. Nice wine list and interesting cocktails.
Wonderful experience. Definitely just my first visit.
My husband and I went to Richards for my Birthday and it was terrific! We had a cocktail and appetizer and our bartender made the best cosmopolitan (not sweet) and a martini for us. You must try the stuffed figs. We then had such a great dinner and opted for a wonderful Pinot Noir -Luminous that complimented the succulent pork chop - so good - and a peppered ahi special. We had the best time, with great food, attentive service in a most warm and inviting environment. We are going back again very soon.
Pricy for some items but that's the new normal in Boise. Nice place not too noisy. Higher booth seating a bit cramped. Overall a good experience..
Delish! Great food and cocktails. Something seems to be missing. Not as lively as one would expect. Valet parking is a nice plus.
Richard and his team consistently put out great food from the kitchen. Richard's is a place where it is tough not to order the "specials" which my wife thoroughly enjoyed on this occasion - pasta with a really good portion of dungeness crab. I had the monkfish which was awesome.
Service is always outstanding. On this occasion we ordered an appetizer and then i had a salad before dinner (their house salad is my GO TO salad in Boise). I asked our server Bryan to pace us and give me time between the appetizer and the salad and he timed it all perfectly.
A unique plus here is for wines by the glass - they bring you an appropriate empty glass, show you the bottle and pour it at the table...nice!!
We highly recommended Richard's for any occasion!
We've been fans of Chef Richard Langston for many years. The menu at Richard's is always fresh and innovative. Highly recommend this restaurant!
