The price was expensive for the food that we got. The cheesecake, drinks, and starter salad were awesome but we’re not impressed by the entrees.
Excellent food, creative menu, great cocktails, great service.
Food was great as always
Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, put the lobster risotto on the regular menu !!!
Absolutely not what we expected in a very good way. We were lucky to enjoy the Valentines Day special. The pairing of Richards with the Inn @ 500 is a huge gem in the Gem State. Definitely recommend.
Food was bland and not great. Soup was bland. Steak had zero seasoning to it. Sauce for steak was not great. Fries were over cooked. Dessert was great. Staff were amazing. For a valentines meal we were very disappointed. No flavor at all.
Love this restaurant! Interesting food and atmosphere. Never disappointing!
My wife and I celebrated Valentines a day early as I had to go out of town. We were greeted and seated as we walked in the door. It took a few minutes for someone to take our drinks order and the rest of the evening a meal was absolutely wonderful. I had the Octupus with Pork Belly and it was fantastic! My wife had the Trout also wonderful. Service was excellent. We will return very soon 5 BIG Stars!
Dinner was excellent as usual and service wonderful! I had requested a table on the window side, but we were not seated there - I would have preferred that to the booth side.
Poached eggs on eggs Benedict were poached hard rather than easy. Eggs on carbonara were overcooked as well though had some runny yolk. Unexpected! Haven't had to request easy poached eggs here before. Hopefully a one off. Otherwise service and food up to Richard's standards.
This was our first time dining here. We loved everything about it! The food was fantastic and the service was great. Very convenient if staying at Hotel 500 and an easy walk to the Morrison Center for events.
Excellent brunch.. delicious and great value. We also
always enjoy other meals - dinner or lunch - at Richard’s .
All was good. Richard came and spoke with us briefly. How nice it was To be able to tell him in person how much we have enjoyed his food and restaurants over the years.
Wonderful night. I wish Richard still served the green olives with chicken dish.
We had a great experience there the first time we went, so decided to go back. The ambiance was still great, but the server was busy or distracted. He seemed almost like in a manic state and wouldn’t stop at our table but for one second. Mostly he would talk to as he passed by without stopping. It was strange. Then the food came. I ordered a beet salad with arugula. Something the “Cheesecake Factory” can do right and do well. Mine looked like a can of beets dumped on a plate with some (few) leaves of arugula scattered here and there. It had a weird horseradish dressing under the pile of beets. So... I ate a few bites of mushy beets with horseradish aftertaste. Whole dish needs to be “reimagined” or eliminated.
Then came the mains. My wife had lobster risotto. Risotto is hard to get right, a chef needs to stir constantly and not over cook. Hers ended up mushy with lobster bits on top. Flavor was OK...but the poor execution meant more mushy textures in the mouth.
My dish was a shrimp with supposedly house made fusilli pasta, finished with bread crumbs in a kind of “fra diavlo” sauce. It was mostly pasta, which didn’t seem homemade from appearance or taste. The sauce was “meh” and the shrimp were small, pre-frozen stuff like you’d find in a bag from Albertsons. My wife has a dozen recipes we make at home that are better pasta dishes.
In the end we decided to share a dessert. House made cherry tart with a single scoop of vanilla. Hard to mess that up! And a couple of dessert wines. “The Sticky End” is an excellent dessert wine from NZ my wife really enjoyed. Anyway, the cherry tart was brought out cold. Therefore the crust was hard, seemed like it was made yesterday and because it hadn’t been heated up...the cherry flavor was muted. So again taste and texture issues.
I’m willing to give them one more try, since our first experience was so good. But, they need to get some QC in the kitchen soon or business will dwindle as word gets around.
We had a most enjoyable experience!!
My husband and I enjoyed our second dining experience at Richard's. Heather gave us exceptional service. I had the bison and pork meatballs. It was very heavy and didn't quite seem like a fine dining entree. My husband had the shrimp pasta and enjoyed it. Even the special was pork, so I didn't really feel like the menu was as healthy conscience as what it could be. On a good note, we love your atmosphere.
New menu but still features signature cannelloni. Tried Bison and Pork Meatballs - awesome new dish. Looking forward to trying other new entrees!
One of my top favorite brunch spots. Great place to go with the girls to catch up. The service is excellent, the coffee drinks are wonderful, the brunch cocktails are yummy and the food is delicious. Great ambiance and they have parking for their guests. What more could you want?
We had a great dining experience, even though we were in a slight hurry to get to a musical. Great flavors and many great wines to choose from. The location is perfect for a night on the town!
Richards had a wonderful menu and a truly fine dining experience. Our server, Andrew, was attentive though not overly invasive. We spent almost 2 hours enjoying an appetizer, entrees and a nice bottle of wine. With regard to their wine list, it is extensive. There are bottles and glasses at all price points though, and the staff seemed knowledgeable about their selections.
Not really a kid restaurant, but we did have a toddler with us and even though they had no kids menu they did tell us that they have a full kitchen and can pretty much whatever she wanted. The food was great and the staff was amazing and knowledgeable. Great place for a romantic date night!
Always a great experience to have a relaxing meal here. I love the menu for all three meals. Mostly, we love to have lunch here. I mostly choose the tomato soup and also love the risotto cakes with shrimp. Service is always friendly and efficient. I think Richard's is a great Boise restaurant.
We have enjoyed Richards through the years and were very pleased with our dinner recently. Trey was our waiter and he was just great and such a gentleman. Our selections were delicious especially the pork dish. Between the delicious food and the great service, it was a most enjoyable evening.
Dinner and martinis were outstanding. Our server, Andrew, was quite excellent. This was our first visit to Richard's and we knew soon into dinner that we'd come back.
Richards always delivers a great experience. They are one of the most consistent restaurants in Boise for food and service. Get the truffle potato chips! Always awesome. :)
always one of the very best restaurants in Boise. we have been there numerous times and still return for the excellent food, service, and ambiance.
Overall it was awesome. Im a boise native and chose Richards because i hadnt ever been to the new locaion. For a first date it was exceptional, way beyond expectations and lovely
We loved the food! Our server was great - Kenna Stagmeyer...we were so happy to see her, as she had served us at another restaurant before.
Repetitive features in the dishes, for example, there were olives in everything we ordered. The trout was done really well, but the vege side was rather a mishmash of flavors. I like this restaurant a lot, but our latest visit was not up to its usual standards
Had a late dinner after arriving to Boise. Outstanding food & service. Happy to see a restaurant of this caliber in downtown Boise. Will definitely go again on my next trip to ID.
The quality and taste of food doesn’t match the high end feeling and price of this restaurant at all. The clam is way under cooked. Cannelloni was unevenly cooked. We expected more than that.
Appreciated the fact that they took reservations for breakfast on New Year’s Day
My husband and I were very impressed by the meal we were served New Years Eve. Everything was paired very well and so fresh and delicious! We had to wait longer than anticipated for our table. They took care of our drinks. Impressive professionalism.
Went there for NYE and the food was good but not great for the price. But my biggest issue was the service. Waitstaff wasn’t attentive and I had to repeatedly ask for things and they never came back to check in on how we were doing. Also, had a 7pm reservation and wasn’t seated until 7:25-7:30. I expected much better and was underwhelmed.
Please put the lobster risotto from the New Year's menu onto the regular menu - I beg you :-)
Maybe the ambiance would have been better, but I was disappointed to be seated in the bar area for New Year's Eve when reservations were made more than a week in advance. Then it was at least 15 minutes before being waited on. First course arrived prior to drink order. Food was good, but expected better for the price.
The food and service were exceptional. The tables are too close together and it feels very impersonal. The waiting area is too small and it feels as if people are standing around watching you eat.
The evening at Richard’s was outstanding. The food was great, the service was perfect, and the entire experience memorable.
Have been to Richards previously and enjoyed on prior visit. However, everything seemed off on this visit. Waitstaff changed after initial introduction, appetizer took extremely long to receive (had to tell staff that we hadn’t received) and food was dry.
