Rich Table Ratings and Reviews
Food quality has slipped. Sardine chips were once one of my most favorite appetizers, but sadly, they have been subpar the last 2 visits- sardine portion is now tiny and very tough. Also, vegetable and salad choices were lacking. Pork chop was a bit overcooked and dry- brining would have helped.
Disappointing top rated restaurant. We split a pasta appetizer to begin. Far too salty. Wife had the codd that was served strangely on skewers. My steak was good but lots of fat in the meat. Had three glasses of wine between us at $16 a pop with meager pours. Chocolate cake desert was OK but not memorable. Bill with tip was over $200 for two. This restaurant is overpriced for what is said about it. Service was very good however.
They've really hit their stride. Service is vastly improved over a couple of years ago when they were pretty full of themselves. Food is superb, service was knowledgeable, engaged and helpful and we could not have had a better experience. We were a bit high maintenance, splitting a lot of dishes, etc. and they were extraordinarily accommodating.
After making a reservation here and having to leave my credit card on file (which they would charge $45 per person if I canceled or no-showed within 48 hours), I was very stressed to arrive on time. We did so, arriving 5 minutes early to our 7:30pm reservation, even. Sadly we were not even sat until after 8pm. Then, since we had already had two glasses of wine while waiting for our table, didn't need or want more drinks right away. Our server scoffed at us and made us feel embarrassed for not ordering anything right away. Since we were finally able to sit and talk, that's all we wanted to do for a few minutes - not be harassed by our server for not speeding through our dinner. The food was good quality and quite tasty, but I wouldn't say it's a very good value. There are a LOT of other restaurants in SF where you get a lot more for your money. Finally, the hostess came over at the end of the meal to take our check and was rather rude, triple checking that we wanted/needed to split the check between two cards. Again, I don't think we deserved (no one does) to be harassed when we're paying for a nice night out. Overall, I really wanted to love Rich Table, but I wouldn't really recommend it or ever bother coming back.
Also - I called the day or two after we dined and left a message asking for someone to give me a call back so I could explain our experience and perhaps see if they'd be willing to remedy the situation. Never heard back! :(
It was our first time dining here after trying to get in other times. We celebrated a 30th anniversary. It was a wonderful meal. Service was attentive and there was even a card on the table wishing us a happy anniversary. We ordered the tasting menu and they were great about subbing out a few things that we don't eat.
Rich Table is one of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco. We go there frequently and love the food and service. But this time the portions particularly the fish at $33 was about half the size of our normal portions. The smaller items prices were increased relative to the past. The dessert was minuscule. Hopefully this is an unusual event but we will not return there for a while even thought the as always was excellent.
The food and service was exceptional. Are party of four couldn't find anything but praise for ever dish. Plus the help are super helpful without being intrusive. Just loved this restaurant and look forward to another great dinner.
We went to the Rich Table for dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday. My brother in law is very pick and said that it was one of the best meals he's ever had. The salad was very fresh.. avocado paired with watermelon jalapeño . The appetizers were very tasty.. the fresh pasta was amazing! We had a wonderful experience and the service was stellar.
The food was extremely uneven. Several of the items were relatively flavorless, while others were excellent. The panna cotta, for example, was almost tasteless. It is a mild dish anyway, but this was so bland it was not worth eating. However the black cod was amazing. My ricotta pierogi were crisp on the outside but undercooked inside and the filling was very bland -- not worth the $29 price, and the ratatouille on the plate was just a few raw cherry tomatoes. But the lamb agnolotti was amazing. The service was pleasant but again, relatively uneven. Three requests to get bread..... The room is attractive and welcoming but quite noisy.
Second try at Rich Table. Difficult to put together courses that make sense.
I don't get the popularity, really. Some dishes outstanding, but the pairings are off the mark when you want a small bite to share and then two courses to follow.
The food was innovative and delicious. Shared plates is the suggestion but we have very differing tastes so we ordered individually but did offer bites to each other. The grilled avocado & watermelon with hummus and jalapeños was outstanding - every bite an explosion of flavor. We ended our anniversary celebration with the RT Alexander.
As others have mentioned, the noise level is off-putting. We mentioned this to our fantastic server Chelsea and she immediately turned down the very loud music. Unfortunately about 15 minutes later someone else cranked it back up.
Wonderful, creative and delicious food. I recommend the dried porcini doughnuts and the aged beef agnolotti, both of which were absolutely superb. An excellent wine list, friendly and knowledgeable staff, great decor (scrubbed wooden tables, open bar) but VERY NOISY!
Always liked dinner at Rich Table, especially their tasting menus. Like how they take a new spin on old standbys. While there's an occasional dish that might not go over very well, overall our dining experience have always been wonderful. Will come back again for sure.
