Love this place. Great food and service. Love the calm vibe, beautiful decor. Loved everything I ordered, would eat at again.
They added lettuce to some the diskes to make it seem like you were getting more. For example, the brussel sprout salad use to come with more Brussel sprouts but now they have added lettuce on the bottom.
Best Thai Restuarant in the area. I've been going to Rice for many years and fall back in love with it each visit. I would highly suggest everyone try it, great food and staff.
They charge extra for rice!!!!!
Great little Thai restaurant! We really wanted to dissect a Panang curry because we kept hitting a wall trying to make it ourselves, so we wanted to eat somewhere that had a decent one, this place had good reviews so we thought we'd try it out! Curry was delicious. We also had the drunken noodles, which was appropriately spicy (moreso than the curry), it was quite yummy as well! Overall a very good choice, we would return!
service was a bit slow, food was OK, standard Thai but limited menu. I was hoping for more...
Soft, quiet atmosphere. Excellent Thai food. Attentive service
Seems that this restaurant went downhill... service and food was very average, the toilets were just disgusting, and the restaurant was almost empty on Friday night. We almost had to beg them for water - they did not pay much attention to glasses being empty... they gave us the final bill without even asking if we wanted tea/coffee or deserts... we were surprised and then it appeared all deserts were sold out and they had none on the menu... it would have been nice to explain that upfront instead of just handing out the bill and leave the customer wondering... would not recommend this place. There are much better Thai restaurants nearby.
It was simple but nice and yummy
Good drinks, good service, and incredibly tasteless food.
Absolutely superb meal had on our last night in DC. This was some of the best Thai food any of us have ever had. From the Pad Thai to my favourite the Spicy Duck dish, it was all excellent.
Great dishes with creative flavors. Note that only some of them are marked as ‘spicy’ but I would say the spiciness is higher than other Thai restaurants. But, delicious. Their cucumber green tea martini is amazing.
This was my second time dinning at Rice. My first experience the food was amazing. This time the food was terrible. I ordered the snapper which we waited way too long for. When it came out it was over cooked so badly I would have needed a knife to cute it. But unfortunately they don’t have knives on the dinner table. Our server came to our table once to get our order and ignored us when we tried to get his attention any time after that. With all the restaurants in the area I would stay far away from this establishment. If I wanted to be treated like crap and not thanked for my business I could have went to McDonald’s.
Highly underrated and under appreciated gem.
Nice place and tasty food, but so noisy that you can't even converse with the people at your table. This place needs some acoustic tiles that absorb sound.
Food was great. Really liked the Crispy Brussel Sprout Salad, Pad Thai, and Chicken Panang Curry.
The food was awesome- every dish had a flavor that seemed authentic. We love Thai food and have had at many places. This restaurant came out at close to the top.
I went with two friends for a casual Saturday afternoon lunch and for my part, was not disappointed. My one friend and I both got lunch Bento boxes, which I highly recommend because the food was delicious and the portions were more than worth it. Our other friend ordered the lemongrass chicken entree, which was unfortunately smaller and slightly more expensive. I would guess that many of the entree/dinner portions are like that, though this was my first time there so I haven't been for dinner yet. But I would still try it for dinner, and again I was really very happy with the Bento boxes! Would definitely go back again!
Enjoyed sitting outside watching the 14 th st world go by. Loved the Brussels sprouts salad/ appetizer. Papaya pad Thai was fantastic. Service good. Happy hour wine and beer
Went there on a Sunday night and it was quiet and very pleasant. The food was solid and the Pad Thai made with green papaya instead of rice noodles was a refreshing change and light meal, if a tad salty. Really enjoyed the shared app platter as well. Some interesting dishes on the menu; good everyday place to enjoy some Thai in a zen-like atmosphere.
Sadly, the size of the portion of food has been reduced. I would rather they raise prices as opposed to shrinking serving size.
I brought my mother here for Mother's Day because she loves Thai food and as a Thai food aficionado, she absolutely LOVED this place. The service was EXCELLENT and the food was even better. Collectively, my party ordered the fried rice (crab and steak), mushroom, coconut, and chicken soup, and the drunken noodles. The rice was AMAZING. The drunken noodles were also great but beware if you have a low tolerance for spicy food.
Overall, this place gets a 10/10. I will go again.
Always a lovely evening at Rice. Relaxed, great service and delicious food.
We really enjoy Rice and have eaten here Then any other restaurant in DC. Excellent food and good value
Not original Thai
This food is ridiculously good. The best coconut rice I've ever eaten. Perfect margarita. It has earned it's rating.
Service was slow. Dinner came before drinks.
The fusion-Asian cuisine at Rice is very good, great preparation of vegetables and absolutely love the red sticky rice. The seasoning is always a little TOO hot (chili peppers); I'd asked for less seasoning this time, but that's not what I got. Nevertheless, good value for money on 14th St. My one complaint is the noise level-- exposed concrete and high ceilings, and you have to speak very loudly to be heard.
This was a intimate birthday dinner for my date and I.
A mainstay on 14th Street. Haven’t been there in years which was a mistake. The food is amazing. Service was a bit slow as I think they were understaffed. I’ll be back.
Unbelievably fast service. We were in and out for dinner in 35 min! Excellent food!
Both food and service was excellent. Big portions. Lots of delicious flavor. Very welcoming and friendly staff.
Lots of Thai restaurants on 14th street and Rice is one of the better ones. Its menu is pretty much your basic Thai with some not so traditional dishes for the offering too. In too many of the area Thai restaurants a lot of the chefs are experimenting with variations on the Thai theme and do not offer many of the traditional Thai standouts. Rice has it all with very good food and excellent service along with reasonable prices. We will be back.
Rice has risen Phoenix-like and now continues to offer the best Thai food & service in the city. It has adjusted to a very competitive dining environment in Logan/Dupont/Shaw. Quieter now, with sound baffling added. This is a low-fanfare high-quality spot.
I love Rice but was really disappointed how closely my party was seated to another party. The row of tables for two are spaced less that a foot away from each other so it is impossible to block other out when you are trying to talk with the person across the table from you. I absolutely loved the food but think in the future I would rather do take out than dine-in.
Manager was rude to other customers, which set a bad tone for our experience.
Best green curry on the planet!
We like eating at Rice because we're vegetarians. Rice is not a vegetarian restaurant, per se, but it has a number of vegetarian and vegan options. We've enjoyed everything we have ordered at the restaurant.
had the spicy duck and appetizer platter. The margarita was good , appetizer platter ok a big perfunctory, but the spicy duck was shoe leather and not sure duck.
it was very spicy with a hot pepper and soggy snow shoe peas. As 14th street has so many good restaurants, I would pass by unless it was just a bad dish.
best Thai food in the city! Consistently delicious every time!
