About
The restaurant, from Chef Dale Talde and the Three Kings Restaurant Group, serves breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner.
The space features an 11-seat bar and a 180-seat dining room, as well as a custom graffiti art installation designed by local artist, Mr. Ewok One. The restaurant also features a robust bar program, including cocktails, wine, beer and sake.
The service was the worst I’ve had in a really long time. Food is mediocre especially for the price. When you’re in the heart of Chinatown, much better off eating quality Chinese food elsewhere.
Great service get a lot of bang for your buck: dinner for the next two nights & lunch for tomorrow 😜 great ambiance
The brunch menu selections were varied. I had the avocado toast and my boyfriend had the burger. We both enjoyed our meals very much.
I definitely recommend Rice & Gold if you're in the mood for an Asian fusion type of dinner. And the brunch is amazing! Try out their bottomless brunch special on Pulsd. It's so worth it.
Nothing special, good ok, drinks took forever. Restaurant half empty
Excellent ramen. Good service, warm and friendly. Baos were ok, wouldn’t order again.
Hotel restaurant, big and cavernous. Food decent but service lacking.
The new menu is fantastic. Four of us split a bowl of ramen, fried rice of the day, cauliflower, 2x mushroom bao, and black pepper shrimp noodles. Everyone left full and very happy.
Menu was very limiting and included nearly all spicy entrees. Appetizers, on the other hand, were quite good (delicious salmon crudo for me, cucumber kimchi salad for my spouse) and I regret not ordering 2 of them rather than the dry and overly spicy steak that was my entree. My spouse had the fried chicken and the breading was incredibly thick and overwhelming. Manager was very hospitable and told us that there is new ownership and menu will be revamped within a few weeks. On that basis we MIGHT return.
Loved my edamame and crispy chicken bao
They were out of the first two types of beer we ordered as well as one of the entrees, but comped us a replacement entree. The food and service was very good though. Bao is a must.
Flavors did not quite work. The ingredients were all there but somehow it tasted off, and everything was way too salty. Drinks were good, so come for a cocktail but avoid the food at all costs!
Food taste great! Highly recommended! Chicken bao is a must have when you go this place.
Delicious and creative dishes, and the cocktail were pretty great as well.
What a great find! The restaurant is huge, brightly decorated with wall murals, comfortable booth seating. The prix fixe dinner options allowed us to sample many dishes - all of them delicious. Favorites include shrimp toast, steak, miso salmon, crispy green veggies - even the edamame were crunchy and tasty. Service was very attentive, clearing plates and refilling waters. We actually had to ask for the courses to be slowed down so we could enjoy a more leisurely dining experience. We'll definitely be back.
Good food,
Family style drinks are pricey but we’re good. I would eat there again but with more people then just a date of 2
ordered as room service to hotel 50 bowery. was great.
The food itself was good, but the service, other than the employees that kept the water full and the table clear was poor. We were seated right away according to our reservation, but it was 8 minutes before a server checked with us to order and the noise level was obnoxious. From there, it took a long time to get my drink and my wife's wine never came. She gave up on getting it and stuck to water. The appetizers came, but were poorly timed. My wife's bao came and a couple of minutes after she finished my tar tar came. Both were tasty, but the serving size of the tar tar was laughable. My drink was finished and the server never came to see if I would like another. The fish came and I really liked it, but the wife didn't. We finished and waited awhile for the unattentive server to ask if we needed anything else. At this point, we were fed up and ready for the check.
Loved the steak and greens. Would go back but only with a voucher. A bit overpriced.
Choose to do Family style! 100% best choice. So many options of yumminess
I didn’t know what to expect at Rice & Gold due to the mixed reviews. I bought a voucher for $69 for $130 worth of food. My boyfriend & I decided to order Family Style instead of Ala Carte & we were happy we did. The food just kept coming! We were so stuffed & delighted with every dish. The food was unique & well spiced. The only disappointment was we felt like we had been deceived with the “happy hour” half price drinks. Yes we should have asked to clarify however it was all over their menu exclaiming HALF PRICE DRINKS everyday 5 to 7. So when we got our very pricey bill due to the drinks we were informed only were half price at the bar. Fabulous.... So the Travelzoo voucher saves you 61 bucks as long as you do not drink!! I wouldn’t go out of my way to return to Rice & Gold however I did enjoy my experience.
Rice & Gold CONTINUES to be one of the finest dining experiences in town!!!
Although not for everybody (e.g.- stoic grand- daddies ' no Barry Manilow-music either), but the outstanding- food, service, and mostly certainly, ...... SEE YOU SOON!!!!
The appetizer was delicious. My daughter's dish was perfect. My dish was overcooked and dry. The service was professional and wonderful. The space is ridiculously trendy and inviting. We used a voucher and found that we really didn't save that much money. Overall, it was a mixed experience.
The food is okay but the drinks are worth every dollar
In and out in 55 minutes from being seated. We ordered two appetizers. 2 entrees and 2 sides. First we received an appetizer, and entree and a side. About two minutes after those dishes hit the table the rest for the food arrived. I asked the server why everything came all at once. I was told that’s how they do it. I have a hard time believing that a “course line” is not used in this establishment. FYI there is no way to enjoy 6 dishes between 2 people while everything is hot. Upon leaving I asked the host to speak with a manager. She looked around and didn’t see one on the floor and said she would have to go find them. Not worth it for me. We left. Won’t be heading back. Word of advice. Be wary of ordering all of your dishes at the same time as they may all show up together. On the other hand if you need to be out in under an hour this seems like the perfect place for you. Also got home and realized one of the dishes we wanted packed up to go didn't make it in the bag. Bad night for Rice & Gold
Made a reservation for Valentine's Day. We were really excited to check this place out because they recently went viral for their Pho Dumplings. But when we got there, that wasn't even on the menu. We did get the regular Pho but were extremely disappointed. The food and ambiance felt like the restaurant knows what is 'cool' but doesn't really know how to execute it. It's also quite pricey for what it is. I don't mind paying for expensive dinners, but if I'm going to pay, I would like to have a transcendent meal. I expect better out of a NYC restaurant. Service was also very slow.
We saw the menu online but the menu has been changed and not updated online in 3 months.
Limited menu and only a couple servers for over 15 tables.
Only saving grace was the food.
Overall not a great experience.
Overall experience is good, good food and good atmosphere.
Limited menu, but the food is good and the cocktails are awesome!
Amazing food selection for the Restaurant Week menu. Cocktails were delicious as well.
loved it here! the ambiance was great, service was flawless and answered any and all qs, and omg the food👌🏻💯👌🏻 we chose to do the Kings group dining option and completely misjudged the amount of food we (group of 5) could handle😂 everything was delicious, cant pick a favorite dish! def $$$ but so worth it, great for group dining and impressing relatives or clients
R&G is a go to Manhattan restaurant for me. Great food and drinks.
I have been here before, for starters they have changed the menu dramatically which is fine as it’s technically a new restaurant. But the problem was that thanks to misleading information from the waiter I ended having shrimp in my dish although I told him that I had a shellfish allergy and he reassured me that there only was salmon and sausage in the dish. I obviously had an allergic reaction and had to call another waiter to order something else. The manager was very accommodating and on top of the situation the chef even sent a Claritin to my table (thankfully I only had a mild reaction and only my tongue got a bit swollen). That was fine but the waiter that made the mistake was just straight out rude and kept rushing me throughout my entire meal. He completely threw me off and ended up making the situation even more annoying and uncomfortable. I don’t know know if I would recommend this restaurant moving forward to other people base on the service and also the time that takes just to get a meal, plus other waiters seemed to prefer to walk around and chat with each other, oh and an allergic reaction!
amazing! Great staff and delicious
Great place for a group of friends as they have menus where you can try a number of dishes. Most of the food was unique and delicious. A few dishes were nothing special. Definitely would recommend for great ambiance, decor and food. It's pricier than a lot of Asian places but still reasonable for the quality and quantity of food.
The food was excellent. However, there were a few issues with the service. We requested booth seating and it took sometime to get seating in the booth when there were 8 open booth spaces with no one sitting in them. Additionally, Open Table mentioned that we would be eligible for a happy hour special on our reservation, however, when we sat down the restaurant told us that happy hour special was not available. Outside of these issues, the food was good.
I had to ask over 5 bus boys to finally get a server to take our order. We were there at 9pm and didn't get our food till 10:30. The food was mediocre and came out not hot. Would not recommend going.
We had a great time at Rice & Gold - the evening was perfectly crafted by the staff to ensure we had it all, from good service to good food to the right amount of ambiance/noise and interaction with staff. The Grilled Mushroom Baos were fantastic, as was the smoky miso salmon. We had the fried cauliflower as an appetizer, not a side - also perfect (although I would have preferred roasted not fried...). My husband had the Thai Fried Chicken which he said had a spicy bite to it (but he loved it), and we shared the greens side dish, also a perfect side. We would absolutely go back, as it was a fun night, and we really enjoyed the place.
The menu on their website doesn't in any way reflect what is offered. It's now an Avocado Toast kind of place.
This was a wonderful experience, we got the two person deal to share. SO much food and they bring it out very quick -- the salad was SO GOOD.
