Now, after three years as Executive Chef of Bice in Chicago, and together with his wife (and sous chef), Veronica, and his cousin (and hostess), Barbara, he decided to continue his gastronomic artistry and creativity in his restaurant named after himself "Riccardo Trattoria."
Here through the craftsmanship of an Italian food connoisseur, dishes are prepared with an almost zen-like essentiality that has shaped Riccardo's professional and existential life course.
PASTA E FAGIOLI ALLA TOSCANA

FRIED ZUCCHINI BLOSSOMS
stuffed with speck prosciutto & mozzarella
GNOCCHI ALLA BAVA
speck prosciutto fontina, pink sauce
I’ve missed their food!
So good!! One of my absolute favorites!!
Food was worth the traffic into the city. Staff treated us like honored guests. Definitely coming back!!!
The pasta here is fantastic. Mussels were average. The Osso Bucco, tasted nice, but for $38, the portion was so small. Came with plain risotto. I think we could have thrown some mushrooms in there. Wonderful seafood pasta though.
Not enough social distancing and tables were a little too close together. On the other hand, the staff were terrific and the food fabulous, as always.
Food and service was amazing! A great spot for a warm and comforting Italian meal!
The food here is always outstanding, and tonight was no exception. Pastas, seafood, meat dishes were all great. Branzino and osso bucco were highlights. Some of the best mussels I have ever had. One of our party had some dietary restrictions that the kitchen gladly accommodated. Terrific, attentive service as well. My favorite Italian restaurant in Chicago.
Excellent Italian restaurant. Best rice balls ever and their sauce is tasty. definitely need reservations
Wonderful food and service. Nino's service was amazing from suggestions for drink and food to even providing a little extra bread to take greater advantage of the wonderful sauces... Highly recommend.
This place was highly recommended to me but it must have been the C team on shift the night we went. I brought friends from out of town here and I was embarrassed it was so bad. The waiter seemed annoyed and bothered with us as soon as we sat down. The lobster ravioli was not fresh, it was awful. The lights were too bright, there was no music except for what was blaring from the kitchen. I would have had a better experience going to an Olive Garden.
We enjoyed our dining experience at Ricardo's. The food, service and atmosphere was wonderful. My husband had the branzino which was perfectly grilled. I had the linguini with clams... outstanding! We highly recommend this lovely restaurant.
Fantastic food as always
Wonderful interesting food and neighborhood friendly service. They always make a person feel welcome and appreciated.
Always a terrific dining experience. As good as Italian gets in Chicago!
Amazing food and incredible service. Best Italian food in the city!
Very good selection of wines. The stuff zucchini was great. The veal milanese was well prepared. Desert frutti di bosco con gelato was a great way to finish dinner.
One of my favorite Italian restaurants in Chicago. Food and service are excellent. Would highly recommend.
Very disappointed in the food. We ordered the specials as I think they must be special, if they say so. The pasta was over stuffed and the vodka sauce just ok. The veal was too breaded and tough. I have always liked this place as a lovely neighborhood quality Italian food bistro but I’m not sure I can go back.
Love this restaurant! Always amazing!
Perfect night for outdoor Chicago dining. The food was amazing - I had the grilled octopus and my wife had the Bronzino. Service was spot on.
Kicking myself that we haven’t eaten here sooner - but will be back and would heartily recommend.
A really nice evening, salads, appetizers and an excellent pasta and lamb shank..the affugato at the end was a little disappointing, could have used a little more thought on presentation, not just two scoops of ice cream in a bowl with espresso poured on top…but all in all a very pleasant experience and will definitely return…
Authentic, comfortable, delicious, friendly, perfect.
Riccardo's is consistent and has great food and service. The food is authentic and delicious. The service is amazing even post Covid when so many restaurants are suffering without enough staffing. Riccardo's' employees work very hard to give you lots of attention without being too present. It is a neighborhood gem and we always return. Paco, the manager, is friendly, warm and pitches in with the staff to keep it all humming. Bravo!
Incredible food authentic, local restaurant - definitely going back.
Everything was wonderful.
Covid problem however, no longer have valet service.
Took me 15 minutes to find parking
Love the place.
Wonderful Italian food and conscientious attentive staff!
We had a great meal and a excellent dessert.
Service was excellent, entrees and dessert were so so good. We will definitely be back!
Food was 10/10 but the table next to us was so loud so my family and I didn’t really enjoy our night there.
I Always have the best food here. I generally get the bolognaise and it never disappoints. The staff is so friendly and attentive, I love going here!
First time dining at Ricardo’s and it was excellent. Food was fresh tasting and nicely prepared. Service was excellent. Look forward to returning soon.
Great as ever!!!
Wonderful service, authentic Italian food, can’t wait to take friends here. Absolutely outstanding
One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city.
Food was delicious and the service was great. Would love more vegetarian options.
Everytime I visit Chicago I have to do e at Riccardo's. Simple, delicious and authentic. One of the most consistent restaurants I have ever been to. the seasonal truffle Tagliolini and veal chop Milanese are my favorites
The menu has changed a bit, but the biggest problem is the lack of valet. There is no parking in this area at all, so if you have to come by car don't go!!
Family visiting, and it was a great dinner.
The food was fantastic and the staff was so warm and welcoming.
The food at Riccardo's is always really good, the service as well. We've been "spoiled" during the pandemic by not having to be subjected to loud dining experiences where we have to shout to communicate. I'm going to miss that. They had tinny music playing in the background which was, frankly, annoying. Luckily, they did turn it down on request. Do we really need background music in restaurants? We certainly don't need bad background music. Go for the food. You will NOT be disappointed. We had the tortalone with ricotta and spinach. We're definitely going to have them next time. Their 3 colored salad (green--arugala, white-endive and red-not sure, either cabbage or red endive for Italian flag) with the broiled goat cheese on top is REALLY good.
Riccardo’s has never disappointed. Consistently delicious food and the most friendly wait staff. This time we had the air cured beef carpaccio, black truffle risotto, Asiago stuffed gnocchi, and the veal chop Emiliana. Pastas are homemade and always cooked to perfection. Price are extremely reasonable for the city and portions are generous. This continues to be my top pick for Italian food in Chicago. High quality with a neighborhood vibe - nothing pretentious here. Would highly recommend.
