Riccardo started his career at a very young age in Milan's prestigious "GIRARROSTO" family owned. Then, in 1982 he moved to the United States and he opened the famous Sonny Bono's in Los Angeles. In 1987 he started to work with his cousin Roberto Ruggeri, with him he opened Bice New York, Los Angeles and many others around the world.

Together with his wife (and sous chef), Veronica, and his cousin (and hostess), Barbara, he decided to continue his gastronomic artistry and creativity in his restaurant named after himself "Riccardo Trattoria."

Here through the craftsmanship of an Italian food connoisseur, dishes are prepared with an almost zen-like essentiality that has shaped Riccardo's professional and existential life course. Some highlights of the menu are Veal Chop Milanese, Veal Shank Osso Bucco, Pappardelle with Short Rib Ragu, various classic Rissotto preparations, and for dessert options like Panna Cotta, Homemade Tiramisu and Tuscan Ricotta Cheesecake round out the menu.

    Dinner was fantastic service was even better, packed for a Monday night. Salmon with pesto was delicious as well as the pasta carbonara. Owners grandson gave us the background on the chef being from Milan & detailed explanation on some dishes, our waitress was very attentive but not intrusive. This place was authentic in & out! A must try in Lincoln Park!

    In town from Carmel Indiana for our son’s band that played Saturday night. Food was excellent, service was outstanding. A bit noisy, but overall great experience. We will be back.

    We had a wonderful meal. We ordered specials, the gazpacho and the branzino. The food was delicious, the presentation beautiful and the staff as generous and fun as always. We love Ricardo year round but especially in the summer when the chef takes advantage of the summer bounty. We enjoy an early reservation when the restaurant is very conversation friendly.

    We very much enjoyed our evening at Riccardo Trattoria. All our food was good, but the burrata mozzarella with prosciutto appetizer and the tiramisu dessert were outstanding. The BYO was an added bonus. Our waiter was very personable, and did offer his preferences on menu items when asked (which I appreciate), instead of "everything on the menu is good". Riccardo Trattoria has a warm neighborhood restaurant feel. We found this restaurant on an online "best Italian in Chicago list", and we are glad we did. Hope to visit again soon.

    A real lincoln park staple! everyone in our party agreed the pastas were plentiful & fresh, our waitress made great drinks and fantastic wine list selection from which seemed the manager recommended a perfect pairing.

    We had a wonderful evening enjoying great wine and dinner outdoors on a warm summer night. The leg of lamb, veal roast followed with the chocolate lava cake was delicious. We can’t wait to return.

    We love Ricardo’s. Last night I had veal tonatto which was outstanding. A hard to fine dish. This was followed by octopus carpaccio with mince vegetables., incredibly good. Last but not least Sicilian swordfish. Great Montelpulciano by the glass. One of my favorite restaurants in the USA.

    Fantastic dinner, great variety in wine & dishes. all of our guests enjoyed their pastas, I enjoyed the fried calamari & ossobucco, very welcoming feeling from the staff, the young man from Guadalajara even spoke to our friends from piedmont in Italian & our friends agreed it was the closest dinner to their home

    Our first visit to this restaurant was ok. Ordered a bottle of 2019 wine, waiter brought 2021; ordered a different bottle 2019, was again brought a different year (2020) - waiter blamed it on distributor substitutions and out-of-date menu. We accepted the newer vintage of the second wine, but no price decrease/adjustment was offered. The wine was very good. I ordered a pasta dish special which specified Maine lobster, but was disappointed when it arrived and it was not Maine lobster, but rather a warm water lobster… being from MA, I know the difference.

    We had a wonderful experience. We sat outside on the little patio which we love. The food was incredible and super customizable. Very much enjoyed and can’t wait to go back!

    Fantastic Early bird offer, Portions were not small nor rationed. The evening was cool so we sat outside and enjoyed one of the best meals we’ve had. Linguini & clams were very fresh & chicken parm huge! Definitely worth the drive from downtown to here, staff were all friendly & jolly, seems to be a family run business.
