Italian
Riccardo started his career at a very young age in Milan's prestigious GIRARROSTO which was family owned. Then, in 1982 he moved to the United States and he opened the famous Sonny Bono's in Los Angeles. In 1987 he started to work with his cousin Roberto Ruggeri (owner of Bice Ventures), with him he opened Bice New York, Los Angeles and many others around the world.

Here through the craftsmanship of an Italian food connoisseur, dishes are prepared with an almost zen-like essentiality that has shaped Riccardo's professional and existential life course.

Unbelievably, even though the waitress said that they would serve the courses separately, they served all the dishes together: salad; primi pasta (risotto); and secundi - main. course. We asked them to serve each separately. Then they brought the SAME risotto and veal Milanaese together again 15-minutes later. The risotto was by then like rubber. NOT returning.

Very crowded and the tables are WAY too close together, especially at this time of COVID. I know restaurants are trying to make it all back and satisfy the demand by packing people in, but this was too close for comfort. As with all places right now, the staff seemed stretch and stressed. Having said that, the food was VERY good--the lamb shank had a lot of meat and was really tasty and the mixed seafood grill was a generous portion and tasty (although maybe a bit watery which diluted some of the marinade's flavor??)

Awful experience manager was very unprofessional and tried to blame our waitress when she was nothing but nice. Food was awful.

Food and service were good, though we didn't get to try a lot on their menu. Kudos for free yummy bread. Price is ok, no extra service charge or what not. However, they seat people too close to each other and there's nowhere to put our jackets and stuff, cuz they use single chairs in the entire restaurant, so you don't even get that extra room of a bench or booth. Music is very loud and doesn't really fit an Italian restaurant.

This is comfort food Italian that is always prepared well and the portions are large. It's a friendly staff and the service is good, but like many restaurants that are suffering from staff shortages, you may wait a bit longer to get your order. They have now have music on Thursday nights, a guitar and bass player, that adds nice background
music to your conversation.

Literally the best Italian I've had in recent memory. I came with a larger group and there was no issue at all for food or drink services. It is truely my new go to for Italian!

Made last minute dinner reservation and wasn’t sure what to expect since we were out of town visitors. Let me tell you - it was an amazing experience. From the drinks, appetizers, fresh pasta…it was amazing! Unexpectedly spent 3.5 hrs in the restaurant. Would recommend for sure!

Great pizza! Enjoyed soup, pasta & salad too. Tho I wish we hadn’t been seated at high top table by front door - it was drafty and crowded by decor. As early dinners, I suspect we were put there to make the room appear full.

This could be our favorite neighborhood restaurant,
except for the fact that it's in the West Loop and
we're on the north side. The room is attractively
designed to enrich the enjoyment of the very tasteful
menu options. The Italian flavors excited my palate
with memories of Grandpa's Sunday afternoon dinners
long ago. The wait staff was very attentive without
getting in our way of enjoying the unique salad dressing,
the yummy olive oil bread basket, and then a delicious
creamy sauce on the tagliolini. We promised each other
that we will return here many times. But only better
would be, if we could convince Ricardo to duplicate
a fun new site on Clybourn in Sheffield or Old Town.

Riccardos is nothing fancy but you don't pay over the top prices for excellent pasta. Bucatini Carbonara and pasta with shaved truffles were so satisfying.

From the tuna tartare to the tiramisu, the food is flavorful and very pleasing to the palate. The manager, Gaetano, is very polite, confirms diner's satisfaction, and is certain to thank diners for coming in. That personal touch is rarely displayed nowadays, so it was warm feeling to know that sense of customer appreciation has not been forgotten. Looking forward to retuning to Riccardo Osteria with more friends.

Good food. We sat near the door and the train was very loud and made if difficult to talk. A table in the back would be better for the overall experience.
