Riccardo started his career at a very young age in Milan's prestigious GIRARROSTO which was family owned. Then, in 1982 he moved to the United States and he opened the famous Sonny Bono's in Los Angeles. In 1987 he started to work with his cousin Roberto Ruggeri (owner of Bice Ventures), with him he opened Bice New York, Los Angeles and many others around the world.

Here through the craftsmanship of an Italian food connoisseur, dishes are prepared with an almost zen-like essentiality that has shaped Riccardo's professional and existential life course.

My wife and i came in for date night was a bit busy and there was not enough staff so taking that into consideration service was great we ordered prosciutto and melon for app and had to send it back because it had the melon rind was literally still on some of the melon the chicken parmigiana was a bit over done and the risotto was tasteless but the thing that upset my wife the most was the fowl language the guy in the red hat that seemed intoxicated was expressing about his fellow coworkers that work on the front of the house he kept ringing the bell while one was taking an order across from my table and the other guy was mixing drinks no one should assume that because you do not have the appearance of someone who speaks spanish you don’t understand the language My wife is a language instructor and speaks 4 languages fluently to the manager or owner of this establishment please take charge and look into this matter my wife called after we left and left a complaint with the hostess it is just unacceptable for your hard working employees to be treated with such disrespect in such difficult times when the restaurant industry is in such a hard spot as for my wife and I we will no longer support this restaurant due to this matter anyone can have a bad day and kitchens do make mistakes but verbally abusing your fellow coworkers does not go well with us

Service cocktails and food all amazing nothing you order here is a disappointment from cocktails to dessert al delicious and the service here is great the kitchen makes all your food from scratch you can even hear them pounding out the lamb chops David made our night with the special secret cocktail he made for my wife and I all in all will be back with the family or for business dinner Hats off to the crew you guys are great

We really enjoyed our dinner and the entire experience. First and foremost, the service was excellent. Staffing was limited and you would have never known it. Our waiter was working as the host, waiter, bartender, food runner and busser. We never felt rushed and he couldn’t have been more friendly and professional. He never missed a beat. It was incredible. We were so impressed at his ability to adapt in a difficult situation. The food was excellent. Drinks, starters, and entrees arrived quickly and were great. Octopus entree with pesto was incredible. Bronzino was excellent. We would go back just for those. I was torn between ordering the octopus and the bucatini carbonara. Our waiter suggested I get the octopus and that he could bring a small side portion of the bucatini. Huge win fir this suggestion. Bucatini was wonderful. Sauce was traditional but with a hint of saffron, it’s was amazing. We sat outside on the patio and it was lovely. Overall we loved the food which is why we chose to try the restaurant. But the service and experience in spite of a staffing shortage was incredible. We will be making Osteria Riccardo a regular go to spot on our list of local restaurants. Excellent service, food and experience.

The food was very good. Everyone enjoyed their dishes and drinks. The waiter was very competent and answered any question we might have. The need to order everything at one time was unlike any place else any of us had dined and it would have been preferable to order an appetizer and sip the drinks we would have before our wine. That made it feel a bit rushed even though the dining area was not full at all. Otherwise it was a very enjoyable experience. Thanks.

Riccardo's is one of my favorite Italian places in Chicago. I've been here many times and they never disappoint!

This past week I tried their veal parmesan and it was amazing.

I would highly recommend, great staff & food.

Traditional Northern Italian menu. Quality presentation. You can hear the kitchen pounding the veal or pork when ordered so "cooked to order". Good stuff!

Food is excellent. Four of us dined. All enjoyed the food. Fresh salad, pinsa crust was chewy and thin and the taste was exceptional. It's difficult for restaurants to gauge the number of customers each evening; this was a Saturday and they didn't have enough servers or cooks, so food delivery to the table and general service was slow.

Our server was great, friendly & attentive. The food was delicious. My only complaint would be the bread that is served at the beginning. The bread should be warm, I asked for a warm serving and was still served cold bread. However, that being my only complaint- I will definitely be returning.

Your staff was nice, and the ambiance was good, but the food was quite disappointing. It’s never a good sign when the best dish was the salad. We also ordered the grilled octopus which was very chewy, and the two pasta dishes were a strange consistency even though I believe the pasta was homemade. One pasta was way too salty and tasted like canned mushroom soup, the other was totally bland.

Sorry but we won’t be back, other than perhaps for drinks at the bar.

Went for Sunday late lunch. One of us used the restaurant week menu,which was very reasonable for all the food. We both had risotto and they both were very good. Nice cocktails nd a good wine selection.

Extraordinary restaurant week menu - easily the best value we’ve had in Chicago with 3 courses from their specials / standing menu offered at a fantastic price. Do not understand how they don’t feature on the ‘best of restaurant week’ lists. Service was on point and food was superb. Will definitely be back
