After moving to the US, Riccardo opened Sonny Bono, IL Giardino Ristorante and Madeo Ristorante in Beverly Hills. In 1987 he helped his cousin Roberto Ruggeri open the first Bice restaurant in New York City. Since then, he has worked in the opening of many of the restaurants in the group. In 2002 Riccardo moved to Chicago with his wife Veronica to be the executive chef of Bice on Ontario.
Finally Riccardo and Veronica, also a chef, decided to open their own place and in 2006 called Riccardo Trattoria. Considered by many to be the top Italian restaurant in town, receiving the Bib Gourmand from Michelin in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Now, Riccardo and Veronica have opened Riccardo Enoteca, right across the street from Riccardo Trattoria on Clark.

We love Ricardo Enoteca - the food is great quality and pretty authentic, the service is always attentive, the best Italian in the neighborhood.
Service was slightly pushy and not very friendly to me.
Food was good - but not great like I was hoping. My pasta was sitting in a puddle of oil. Not appetizing.
They were aware it was a birthday but did nothing special.
Our party expanded from 3 to 5. They accommodated with style and grace. The wines and cocktails were delicious as well as the food. The pinsa was on point with boar sausage.
food was average at best ... good service ... probably will not return
A rock solid neighborhood staple - I've never had a bad meal (or experience) there. Good food served by pleasant staff in a quieter wood panelled room. A few tables available outside weather permitting. Highly recommended
Neighborhood gem. Fantastic menu and people. Great appreciation for their wait staff. Well done ans keep up the terrific efforts
A lovely neighborhood spot - great ambiance, service and food. Awesome for dates and nights out with friends or family.
Excellent food, friendly and helpful service. We sat outside, which was very pleasant. Just an enjoyable evening at an outstanding neighborhood restaurant.
Had an unbelievable meal. Juan our server was very informative and steered us to the daca bean appetizer which we would have never selected but was great. Gnocchi was out of this world. Small cozy Italian vibe. Will go back for sure !
The food was amazing and our service was outstanding!! Will definitely be back
This is a must try Italian eats in Lincoln Park! We started with the caprese (freshest tomatoes) then were satisfied with all of our main entrees - Bolognese, rigatoni alla buttera, and 2 specials (1 with risotto and veal meatballs the other a truffle veg option). Also split the side asparagus and spinach among 4 adults - decent amount each. Finished with some gelato (strawberry was the best!) so delicious!
Forever and always our favorite restaurant! Sweet little terrace outside, warm and knowledgeable service, consistently delicious food.
Inside dining. Great food. Loved the Burrata pizza.
Excellent service and food!
We had a wonderful experience at Ricardo’s! The veal meatball appetizer and the branzino special particularly stood out. Excellent service and fun atmosphere, we will absolutely be going again and again! If you’re in Chicago looking for authentic Italian, check out Ricardo’s!
The food was slow coming from the kitchen. Quality of food 5 out of 10. Ambiance was superb but disappointing food.
Food was excellent, service was informative. Cozy interior, terrific place to eat.
Amazing service and quality food! The server was knowledgeable and attentive. Can’t wait to go back.
As always great food and service. A neighbourhood gem.
One of my favorite neighborhood gems. The food is always top notch, servers are attentive, great wine list and the homemade pasta rivals some of the best spots in Chicago. Came with two girlfriends and we sat outside - one of those perfect summer nights in the city and it feels a little like being in Europe. We split the truffle burrata with prosciutto and the salami pizza (crispier and more like a flat bread). I had the bucatini carbonara and the serving was huge and delicious. My friends had the seafood linguine special and cacio e pepe (off menu but they made it). Great date spot and perfect for family dinner too.
Delicious as always and excellent service
Great food, excellent staff-wonderful service, the manager Caesar is the best
Spectacular veal! Good wine list. Great service!
Super authentic. Great service. Too many excellent choices. Jose was GREAT.
Great little Italian restaurant, knowledgeable and courteous wait staff, delicious food and compatible wine selection.
This was the most phenomenal dinner my friend and I have had in ages… everything was perfect and spot on, and Juan our server was the absolute best! We will be back!
Both food and service were fabulous!!!! The only thing that could have helped the environment was to improve the acoustics.
Favorite Italian restaurant in Chicago. Absolutely love the staff, the food and the experience. Am definitely a regular and am thrilled to be. Have had almost everything on the menu. The lasagna is superb. The pizzas (particularly the calabrese) are amazing. And the calamari is the best! Jose, Juan, JP and Ceasar truly make the experience. Cannot recommend this place enough!
This was one of the best meals we’ve had. Everything was delicious and the service was impeccable.
A neighborhood gem. Small and cozy but doesn’t feel cramped. Can’t hear other diners. Food and service excellent.
Perfect little neighborhood place. The staff is A+! Favorite pizza in the city.
Food always outstanding. Service superb.
A quiet and intimate space with efficient and helpful staff who watch but don't hover or rush guests. Always a favorite place for well-prepared food and a "glad we came here" experience.
Outstanding dining experience, as always! Thank yiu, Riccardo!
Great place to celebrate any occasion. Kids friendly. Sophisticated gem in the Lincoln Park.
Delicious food and fantastic service. Always a treat to eat there.
All the servers were so nice, and the food was delicious. We got the grilled calamari, fettuccine bolognese, and the orecchiette. Loved it all!
A perfect local restaurant. Love this place!
This is a favorite spot, full of locals who appreciate attentive service and wonderful food. They will make your meal just how like it if you ask and will accommodate allergies happily. Such a throw back to when dining is about the customer, not the chef. The wine list is nice and they have a full bar.
A lovely spot for excellent food and service!
