After moving to the US, Riccardo opened Sonny Bono, IL Giardino Ristorante and Madeo Ristorante in Beverly Hills. In 1987 he helped his cousin Roberto Ruggeri open the first Bice restaurant in New York City. Since then, he has worked in the opening of many of the restaurants in the group. In 2002 Riccardo moved to Chicago with his wife Veronica to be the executive chef of Bice on Ontario.
Finally Riccardo and Veronica, also a chef, decided to open their own place and in 2006 called Riccardo Trattoria. Considered by many to be the top Italian restaurant in town, receiving the Bib Gourmand from Michelin in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Now, Riccardo and Veronica have opened Riccardo Enoteca, right across the street from Riccardo Trattoria on Clark.

As always great food and service. A neighbourhood gem.
One of my favorite neighborhood gems. The food is always top notch, servers are attentive, great wine list and the homemade pasta rivals some of the best spots in Chicago. Came with two girlfriends and we sat outside - one of those perfect summer nights in the city and it feels a little like being in Europe. We split the truffle burrata with prosciutto and the salami pizza (crispier and more like a flat bread). I had the bucatini carbonara and the serving was huge and delicious. My friends had the seafood linguine special and cacio e pepe (off menu but they made it). Great date spot and perfect for family dinner too.
Delicious as always and excellent service
Great food, excellent staff-wonderful service, the manager Caesar is the best
Spectacular veal! Good wine list. Great service!
Super authentic. Great service. Too many excellent choices. Jose was GREAT.
Great little Italian restaurant, knowledgeable and courteous wait staff, delicious food and compatible wine selection.
This was the most phenomenal dinner my friend and I have had in ages… everything was perfect and spot on, and Juan our server was the absolute best! We will be back!
Both food and service were fabulous!!!! The only thing that could have helped the environment was to improve the acoustics.
Favorite Italian restaurant in Chicago. Absolutely love the staff, the food and the experience. Am definitely a regular and am thrilled to be. Have had almost everything on the menu. The lasagna is superb. The pizzas (particularly the calabrese) are amazing. And the calamari is the best! Jose, Juan, JP and Ceasar truly make the experience. Cannot recommend this place enough!
This was one of the best meals we’ve had. Everything was delicious and the service was impeccable.
A neighborhood gem. Small and cozy but doesn’t feel cramped. Can’t hear other diners. Food and service excellent.
Perfect little neighborhood place. The staff is A+! Favorite pizza in the city.
Food always outstanding. Service superb.
A quiet and intimate space with efficient and helpful staff who watch but don't hover or rush guests. Always a favorite place for well-prepared food and a "glad we came here" experience.
Outstanding dining experience, as always! Thank yiu, Riccardo!
Great place to celebrate any occasion. Kids friendly. Sophisticated gem in the Lincoln Park.
Delicious food and fantastic service. Always a treat to eat there.
All the servers were so nice, and the food was delicious. We got the grilled calamari, fettuccine bolognese, and the orecchiette. Loved it all!
A perfect local restaurant. Love this place!
This is a favorite spot, full of locals who appreciate attentive service and wonderful food. They will make your meal just how like it if you ask and will accommodate allergies happily. Such a throw back to when dining is about the customer, not the chef. The wine list is nice and they have a full bar.
A lovely spot for excellent food and service!
Good food and atmosphere!
Great food. Great selection. Great service.
We’ve been to Riccardo Enocteca several times and it never disappoints.
Outstanding meal and service as always!
One of our favorite places. The food and service are always great.
As always, food was fabulous, service great. Nice to be back for inside dining. Nice ambiance - buzz of a neighborhood city restaurant.
Great for any occasion. Just celebrated two birthdays. Food is always wonderful. And I love that I can request a half order of pasta--particularly the carbonara which is superb and rich.
always great food and excellent service. Ricardo Enteca is my favorite Italian restaurant and is a neighborhood jewel. Great casual dinning experiencer.
Riccardo Enoteca is one of my favorite go-to restaurants for a positive dining experience. The quality of their food and service, pleasing welcome and hospitality. The manager and maître d' is Caesar and is super; and all the wait staff are great too.
Unique too, is a best-in-class t ambiance. It is a just right size for a group up to about 5 or 6. Even if its not so full at that moment, it doesn't feel like my conversation will carry or echo throughout; and when it is full, it's never too loud.
Always a nice evening with great food and friendly staff. Consider it as a neighborhood gem where you know everyone.
Food and service was excellent!! Very enjoyable!
One of our favorites. Delicious food, incredible staff and always a good time. It always feels like home when you are there. They happily accommodate dietary restrictions.
The burrata, mushroom risotto, and orecchiette were all delicious, and sitting out on Clark was so pleasant and comfortable as it’s getting warmer.
Our new favorite local enoteca. Love this place. Amazing, authentic Italian food in a great setting with great service. They have a great restaurant across the street, as well.
Intimate setting, good food and attentive service. What more could you ask?
A great spot for neighborhood dining. Friendly staff. Good food. Nice wines. Casual and low key which is perfect for a place that one goes too on a regular basis.
I have not dined here in a few years and so glad I went there on Friday. It is cozy and a perfect neighborhood gem. We ordered the prosciolto and melon for an appetizer snd then our entrees were the lamb chops Milanese and the chicken Milanese. Both dishes were very good.
