After moving to the US, Riccardo opened Sonny Bono, IL Giardino Ristorante and Madeo Ristorante in Beverly Hills. In 1987 he helped his cousin Roberto Ruggeri open the first Bice restaurant in New York City. Since then, he has worked in the opening of many of the restaurants in the group. In 2002 Riccardo moved to Chicago with his wife Veronica to be the executive chef of Bice on Ontario.
Finally Riccardo and Veronica, also a chef, decided to open their own place and in 2006 called Riccardo Trattoria. Considered by many to be the top Italian restaurant in town, receiving the Bib Gourmand from Michelin in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Now, Riccardo and Veronica have opened Riccardo Enoteca, right across the street from Riccardo Trattoria on Clark.
Fettuccine alla Bolognese
Beef, veal and pork ragu braised in red wine and tomato sauce
Calamari alla Griglia
Grilled calamari served with tricolor salad
Ravioli al pesto
Ricotta and spinach ravioli in creamy pesto sauce
At Ricardo's Enoteca, as well as Trattoria across the street, you can always be assured of a creative menu well-executed. Prices are modest for restaurants that are so well-regarded and reviewed.
Nice location, very good food. Great service
Always the best food and service
One of our favorite restaurants in Chicago. Great food, great waiter (Juan) we just love this place!
Great wine and service. The food was a bit salty but still good.
My absolute favorite place in Old Town/Lincoln Park. Good and service are always amazing!
Delicious food and wonderful service.
After making many meals at home due to sequester, it was so nice to go out to a restaurant to "dine". I can't say enough about how delicious everything tasted, the service, the non-rushed atmosphere. What a delight to experience a wonderful meal. This is such a gem and we need to do anything we can to support this restaurant so that it is standing after Covid-19 era passes. Thank you Riccardo Enoteca!
Neighborhood gem. Always high quality food and service.
Never disappointed at Riccardo Enoteca. Both the food and the service are always outstanding!
Incredible Italian meal with superb service. We had an assortment of dishes that were all spectacular
One of the best Italian restaurants in the city. Great food and service. Sat outside, our waiter was fantastic.
Always excellent services and the food seems to get better and better
Neighborhood gem consistent
Superb place. New for us. Lovely cozy outdoor patio space. Excellent service. Great food and drinks.
We we're happy to be able to return. Everything was up to their high standard & very welcoming.
Food and service was excellent!
Outside Covid dining limited the ambiance
Great food. We had the classic lasagna, risotto and Bronzino. The service was very attentive. One of the best Italian restaurants in Chicago.
Nice family style dining with good food. Easy going casual with good service.
In my opinion this is the best Italian restaurant in the city. I always know I will be greeted like a friend and that I will not be disappointed in the service and food.
Had a great time at Riccardo Enoteca! Due to the current restrictions on dining in Chicago, the only available seating for the restaurant is outside on the sidewalk lining the restaurant. The street is very cute and was not busy. Out server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food. We enjoyed the Caprese salad and the grilled octopus. I had for my entre the sea bass and it was pretty good as well! Great place for a date.
Great service and wonderful food. I loved the trout, with a nice red sauce and veggies. Lovely ambiance on the patio.
Food was very good but not sure it’s worth going back again given how many Italian places there are in the city. Service was not great... very pushy and made a super rude comment about us ordering so much food.
Really great food, always fantastic service!
A gem of a spot. Keep them in business. Please go. MUST order the fava e peccorino. Enjoy!
The food is delightful and the service is impeccable.
These guys rock! This is neighborhood dining at its best!
Amazing food and amazing service still one of the best in Chicago.
Riccardo never disappoints. Enoteca is my favorite location, but my experience at all three locations have been consistently exceptional. The food is truly outstanding, and the service impeccable. Everyone—from the servers, support staff, and management—is personable, friendly, and happy to see you. I highly recommend our server, JP. He is conversational, funny, and delivers excellent service. I have a hard time not ordering my favorite dish: Rigatoni alla Buttera. This time, we also tried the burrata over arugula with pesto and the tortelloni. Both wonderful. As a restaurant manager, I am not ashamed to say this is my favorite restaurant in the city, and I do not work here!
Great to be back on the patio! Food as good as ever!
The staff is always friendly, accomodating and safe. JP and Juan are always quick to remember you and help cover each others table if need be.
What a great night! The outdoor tables on the sidewalk were shaded and attractive, the service was friendly and attentive and the food was great.
Excellent! Great neighborhood spot - we will be back!
Wonderful service, great patio. Will definitely be back!
Dinner outside with two friends, service was top notch with very attendance waiter and food/ wine was fantastic ! We were part of the uncovered patio and when it started raining our server moved us under the umbrella with all new silverware, which was greatly appreciated. Highly recommend this spot for great Italian, nice portions and a wonderful ambiance !
Absolutely fantastic! Sat outside and we were covered by the passing rain shower. The food was delicious and service top notch. So happy we found this restaurant!
We had a 9 p.m. reservation Friday evening and it was so nice to be able to dine at Riccardo Enoteca again! We felt the table distancing and precautions were excellent. The service and food were exceptional, as usual!
Amazing experience overall! Fantastic service and fantastic experience.
Old reliable. The most consistently good restaurant in Chicago.
They have a decent wine collection. Good service too.
