After moving to the US, Riccardo opened Sonny Bono, IL Giardino Ristorante and Madeo Ristorante in Beverly Hills. In 1987 he helped his cousin Roberto Ruggeri open the first Bice restaurant in New York City. Since then, he has worked in the opening of many of the restaurants in the group. In 2002 Riccardo moved to Chicago with his wife Veronica to be the executive chef of Bice on Ontario.
Finally Riccardo and Veronica, also a chef, decided to open their own place and in 2006 called Riccardo Trattoria. Considered by many to be the top Italian restaurant in town, receiving the Bib Gourmand from Michelin in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Now, Riccardo and Veronica have opened a classic Italian wine bar, called Riccardo Enoteca, right across the street from Riccardo Trattoria on Clark.
This has become one of our favorite restaurants, with terrific food and service. We celebrated my wife’s birthday here because of its consistency in all respects.
Love the place!! Always lives up. I go every time I go to Chicago.
Lovely place to gather with friends. Friendly staff. Great food.
Perfect easy dinner any night of the week!
We are most fortunate to have this spot in our neighborhood. We eat there as often as possible, and especially enjoy introducing friends to the restaurant. The food is consistently outstanding, the wine list has lots of reasonably priced excellent selections and the service warm and welcoming. We look forward to many more meals there.
All I can say is perfection . Staff was great , food is the best Italian in the city , ambiance is fantastic.
Food was good. However, the restaurant did NOT have our reservation in their system.
Always the best! A real neighborhood gem. Cozy, friendly, and the best staff in the city.
Wonderful, comfortable boutique atmosphere....service good food is very good
This is my favorite Italian in chicago. A true experience and the guys who work and run the place are legends in their own way. Fantastic!
Food was perfect!!!!!!! Best grilled calamari ever!!!!!!!!!
Incredible food and service!
This was a first visit for all 3 of us. We all found our food to be delicious & our waiter was excellent!!
This has become my favorite restaurant. Food is great. Service is equally wonderful. Love the jazz they play in the background...and love that they know when to turn it off so the restaurant doesn’t get too loud.
Food is always excellent. Generous portions but not overwhelming. Variety is exceptional considering the capacity of the restaurant.
Food and service was great. Loved the old nostalgic atmosphere. Would come back the next time in Chicago.
Pulpo over the crushed potatoes was sublime!
Great vibes, as always, including the service.
Ideal neighborhood spot for cocktails, good wine offerings, and authentic Italian preparations.
Can't wait to return!
Love this place. It has become my go-to restaurant.
The Riccardo Enoteca chef prepared a meal that was reminiscent of our last trip to Italy. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly, and beautifully paired with Italian wine. We've already made a reservation to return again!
Very pleased overall.
We had a fabulous meal here!
It is a great little neighborhood Italian restaurant and the carbonara was excellent!
great food; warm, friendly place; lovely jazz playing over the sound system. Will become our go-to restaurant!
Gran restaurante. Muy buena comida. En mi mesa se pidió lasagna, bronzino y otras pastas. Excelente comida
Food was really good. Great value for the money. Would definitely go back. Lovely experience
Excellent food, excellent staff.
Ordered the Branzini, wasn’t Branzini. It was another flat white fish, but not what I ordered, It tasted fine. The service was slow and rude... off my dining out list
Cute little restaurant. Conveniently located near the show we saw at Park West. Attentive but not intrusive service. Amazing sea bass entree which I cannot wait to have again. And they were very accommodating with a specially prepared gluten free veal dish for my husband. Will be back!
Delicious food. Service is amazing. Always açcomidating.
Perfect, every time - this is my go to spot when I need to relax and enjoy dinner....and where I take friends who have not yet experienced Riccardo! 10 Stars!
The staff is always amazing here....just like the food! I highly recommend.
I am not a fan of Italian food and this was simply excellent. Everything prepared perfectly.
One of our favorite spots - has a neighborhood feeling, and reminds us of Italy. Always great food and an interesting, value-oriented wine list. Great for a couple or small group.
Great place. I recommend specially the fish and desserts.
This place had amazing food and service. I would recommend to anyone.
Truly excellent Italian food in a very casual setting and fair prices. The menu has many options and it would be easy for anyone to find something regardless of what sort of diet he or she might be on.
Everything is well prepared and nicely presented.
Wine list is also reasonably priced and there are nice by the glass options.
My wife and I have been there 5+ times and have never been disappointed
We are lucky to have this place in our neighborhood. The food is consistently excellent and somehow keeps getting better.
Riccardo trattoria is one of my favorite restaurants, and I have always liked the Enoteca as well, but last Saturday I took someone for a celebration, and I ordered cacio e pepe, and it had no pepper, and was tasteless, I could hardly eat 3 bites. I have always loved the Trattoria, but the Enoteca needs to pay more attention to its menu.
Went there for a birthday and the service was excellent. Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I both got sick from the dinner. I followed up with the restaurant to let them know our concern and I think we would’ve appreciated a bit more sympathy for the situation.
Wonderful local favorite. Does Riccardo restaurant proud.
