So here is my take on the restaurant. Firstly the food is not something that you can’t find at other Steak Houses in the city. The coleslaw and pickles definitely need improvement. Not comparable to Moishes overall. As for value, it is over priced for what you are getting. Best part of this place is the upstairs cigar lounge by far.
Great service for lunch for the business meeting. When I go to a restaurant I don’t want to feel stressed. The host and waiters made sure that the table was well served without being overbearing. They were able to accommodate me even though I did not have much time.
We started with the Rib’s Hot Platter to share. The platter itself is nice to have when you haven’t been to the restaurant before. Once you have tried everything you might prefer to choose individual appetizers the next time. Everyone on the platter was good though my favourites were the Rockefeller oysters and jumbo shrimp. I didn’t care too much for the fried calamari but at that point it’s down to personal preference.
The Caesar salad was made tableside. It does take time to make so make sure you’re not in a hurry to leave prior to ordering the salad. A salad for two is enough for three, so keep that in mind. I enjoyed the show and the taste was what you’d expect from Caesar dressing minus the obvious tangy flavour you might get out of bottled Caesar dressing. I would order the salad again.
Lobster bisque - bad. The soup had no semblance of lobster flavour and took on this weird bitter and salty taste. When the soup arrived it also had a layer of cream that started to form on the surface, which means it had time to rest outside for a while. Not a good sign but the waiter took it off the bill without asking, so the gesture was appreciated.
For the main dish I had Arctic char. The cook was nicely done and the fish retained sufficient moisture. The capers were a little overpowering with their pungency but on its own the fish had decent flavour. Nothing too special, so I’ll opt for something else next time.
Overall, great service and atmosphere. Despite it being lunchtime, the restaurant was packed. Even then, the waiters never missed a beat. Great choice for any occasion.
I am sorry to say the food was not up the standards I experienced 6 months ago.
Cesar salad was very good. Octopus was overcooked and tough. 6oz sirloin was tough and undercooked ( I had asked for medium). The peper sauce was disappointing I don't believe I saw them put cream in it and it was certainly not creamy and tasted a little burnt. Spinach and tuna tartare was tasty.
Wine was good, and sommelier personable.
Overall a disappointing $900.00 meal for 4.
The truth is that the food was excellent from A to Z, the steak of my friends was cooked almost to perfection and the lamb that I ate too, we had a few beers heinekens that were also very cold as it has to be, the only thing that I did not like was the bill ,,, lol .... lol .... lol .... 400.00 dollars, but it was worth it was my friend's birthday and what better than a good restaurant and a good meal. ... Thank you !!!!!!!!!!! We had a great time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friend's home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The lobster bisque was amazing and the cesar salad was refreshing. The ambiance was fabulous and we had a great table. We loved the filet mignon and the salmon. No words for the fondant au chocolat as it was amazing. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."The price is well-justified with the quality and quantity of. food received. I will definatly recommend the resto to all my friends.
We went on a Saturday night. Made reservation for 6pm, it's was very quiet as we were the first ones in the section we were seating. I asked for a quiet corner they found a perfect spot. We were served by Mathieu, it was impeccable. We ordered drinks dirty martini and daiquiri, it was the best daiquiri I've here had ! We had the chateau briand steak for 2 what a delight, amazing as usual. The lobster bisque was good but a little too creamy, it takes away the seafood flavor but the chunks of lobster makes up for it. We ordered 3 cocktail shrimps as it was the main reason why we went there. We were very disappointed, they used to be touching the plate hanging from the top. No where near the same. I also ordered a lobster tail as a side to the dish, sooooo disappointed!!! It was soooo smal, it literally was 6 small bites.
We would go back again if they bring back the regular shrimp cocktail size. As it is the main reason why we usually go.
We come to this restaurant often for special occasions because the food is Always outstanding. Also the service is about as close to perfect as possibleFor attentive and not obtrusive.
This most recent visit did not disappoint at any level. We had Arctic char for that was perfectly prepared. We eat fish often at restaurants and this place
Is among the very best. The service was their standard blend of attentive and not obtrusive. Even the decaf coffee was freshly prepared and excellent.
Bravo to Rib and Reef
From the moment we (5 gents) walked in we could feel the great atmosphere that this place radiates. The service at this place was impeccable. The food was simply delicious. The prices are above average but much more worth the experience than going to a Keg or something like that. They even come around to show you today's meat cuts if you're interested. Best steak I've had in a long time. And we all agreed. Would love to try the rest of the menu!
Loved the old fashioned personal service you get. Not many restaurants do that nowadays. The place is elegant and has a nice classy atmosphere. The food was delicious, of course.
The only negative point I have, is that I found it took a little long to get our food.
Expected it to arrive faster, but even so, I would still go back when I crave another nice steak dinner! Thanks for making my 45th wedding anniversary even more special!
The waiters provide a lot of pomp and pageantry preparing the salads and beef tartare at the tables which is quite entertaining but it comes with a fair bit arrogance too. Particularly with the wine - they have this encyclopaedia which serves as the wine list but don't seem to have anything you choose. Instead, they offer an alternative to the one you choose that costs a 'few dollars more'. The food is fine but nothing more than that which is disappointing coz it's very expensive. The tables are too close together especially with the waiters rushing around putting on their show - expect to get bumped frequently. We were a table of six in a room with tables of 12-16 and it was very noisy. There was also this weird thing with valet parking - it's a bit hard to get there coz of road closures at the moment so I drove in the back of the car park and parked myself. The valet still wanted my key which I gave him and when we came out he'd moved my car for no reason at all... the car park was still empty. I guess he just wanted to drive my car which irks me a bit. Still, we had fun even with the pushing and bumping and only being able to hear the person on either side. There were six of us and the bill was $1000. The next day we received an email from Open Table saying that the restaurant had reported us for not showing up. My wife was very annoyed and called the restaurant and left a long message. The call was never returned. They were probably afraid. :) We've been there 3 times and the previous visits were fine but after this last debacle I doubt we'll go there again.
This is my go to place every year for the F1 grand prix. Great food and service every time. Our steaks are always cooked to perfection!!! The upstairs lounge for after meal drinks and cigar is a must as well. I would like to see a larger selection of single malt scotches.
L'atmosphère de ce restaurant est très agréable. Quelques préparations faites à votre table (dans le cas entre autre de la salade César, les tartares ou sauce au poivre flambée) que l'on prépare à votre table comme à l'ancienne. On ne voit plus cela dans les restaurants maintenant et ça ajoute un cachet spécial. Le steak est excellent et tout le reste aussi. Je n'ai aucune déception de ce resto. Tout est wow! Qualité et bon goût sont au rendez-vous. Un des bonnes tables de Montréal !
