About Ri Ra Irish Pub - Charlotte
Meticulously restored in Ireland and shipped to the US, Ri Ra embodies everything that you would expect from a genuine Irish Pub. Ri Ra comes from the phrase "Ri Ra agus Ruaile Buaile," a phrase translating roughly as divilment, good fun or any sociable activity that improves with fine food, a nice pint of Guinness or dram of Uisce Beatha (whiskey). Ri Ra can be defined as place or state where exuberance and revelry prevail, where music and merriment compete and the conversation flows smooth as the Guinness ebbs in the glass. Slainte!

Ri Ra Irish Pub - Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was very short staffed for a game day. We waited 10 minutes for a hostess to appear and once seated we waited 20 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order. In her defense she did stop by the table after 12 minutes to let us know she’d be back. The Bloody Mary bar was very skimpy compared to a previous visit. The food is delicious but they need a larger wait staff on home game Sundays. Not sure we’d go back on game day since brunch took 1 hour and 30 minutes causing us to be late for the game.
The Kilre Chicken was absolutely delicious. The appetizers were very good. The potatoes were tasty and the onion rings were wonderful. The beef tips were lacking a little. I loved the sauce, my boyfriend said they needed something. The roasted potatoes were better then the mashed potatoes and the Vegetables were perfect. Wait staff was friendly and efficient. Haven't had such good service in a while. Overall experience was excellent.
Went for brunch with a group of 15.
Despite making reservations, they were unable to fully accommodate our party because they misread the reservation for 10 instead of 15 (which our server argued about even though our confirmation clearly stated 15).
Food was decent. Service with Swiney was appalling. She was rude and very poorly trained. Orders were forgotten, water was rarely refilled, sassy comments were made, and it was an overall awful experience. The vast majority of our group are or were servers, and we were shocked was her lack of professionalism.
The food may be okay. But that amounts to nothing if their service remains this poor.
Wife and both ordered burgers, hers medium well, mine medium; both came out cold, despite wife sending hers back. I ordered onion rings and got sweet potato fries, so took back whole plate to fix. Waitress was apologetic and they did not charge us for meal which was nice of them.
We had been before but this time the service was slow, the meal portions were really small for the price and the drinks from the bar were very week and very expensive so we asked for a double. 2 drinks and a bottle of beer was $49!!! We won't be going back anytime soon, too many others places to chose from with better service and value. I'm sorry!
My wife sirloin tips were really chewy and her green beans were very small plus burnt. The corn beef that I chose was good and also the cabbage. Most of all the Sundae with brownie, walnuts, strawberries and ice cream was over the top.
We probably will check out others places before we go back there again!
The place is dark, but appropriate for an Irish pub. I had the chicken curry and it was excellent. My date had the steak tips and said they were tough/gristly and didn't have much flavor. The service was excellent. We were there at dinner time, and it was pretty noisy, difficult to have a conversation. Overall though it was a good experience.
Fantastic Irish pub in uptown Charlotte with delicious menu choices. We received 10% off of our bill when we mentioned that we were going to see "Jersey Boys" at 7:30pm. Though our reservation was at 6:15 pm, we had to wait 40 minutes for our food. Could've enjoyed the food more if we didn't have to gulp it down. Luckily, Belk Theater is right next door.
We arrived about a half hour late for our reservation as our symphony show ran later than expected. We were welcomed at Ri ra without a problem.
We were seated in a cozy corner by the fireplace.
Our waitress was friendly, The Kentucky Derby happened to be going on while we were there. She stopped by a few times while we waited for our food just to chat about the race and see if we needed anything.
Food was delicious! Fish and Chips portion was enormous. Chicken curry and Reuben were tasty as well.
Ri Ra had been a favorite in the past. Had reservations and were seated upstairs at a lonely little table in the middle of the empty floor on the way to the rest rooms. High traffic area and definitely not any fun (my fault for not refusing the seating in the first place...they were fairly empty at that end of the restaurant.) My wife's meal was good but mine was quite bad (who heard of tough corned beef?) Disappointing.
We were at this resturant for a concert but I had eaten here on one other visit to Charlotte and liked it, so we chose to eat here again. This is about as authentic of an Irish pub as you can get here in the US and I loved it. The food was very good, the choice of beers and wines quite extensive and I was able to get my favorite Irish hard cider here as well, which is very rare here in the US. I definitely would eat here again if I was going to be downtown Charlotte.
The beer was good - Smithwicks and Wicked Weed Napolean Complex Pale Ale. The Shepherd's Pie was ok but the Jameson Beef Tips were not great. The brownie in the Guiness Sundae was hard and burnt. It was a busy night with a lot waiting for the concert by Keith Harkin so it was difficult to get our server, Nicole's attention.
