Ri Ra Irish Pub & Restaurant - Portland Ratings and Reviews
We went for brunch on a bright sunny Sunday morning. The restaurant was nice and quiet. We took a table by the window overlooking the water. Beautiful. Service was quick and pleasant. Everyone really enjoyed the food. We haven't been to Ri Ra in a long time but we will be returning very soon.
Outstanding service, food, and ambiance. RiRa is the bomb! Had the staple of all beers...Guinness, poured to perfection, and at the perfect temperature. The bangers and hash were nicely plated--crunchy hash brown covered with two cut-in-half bangers, and delish sauces. Elysia was a great server! Highly recommend!
Waitress forgot about us but manager kept checking on service, otherwise we never would have drinks or food.. food was great , service was awful the night we were there even with a reservation.. I will say due to horrible service rira comped some of the bill is as impressive
Waited for 10 minutes just for hostess to show up. We had reservations at 7:30 and so did several other couples. When she finally showed up she said they were over booked and she'd see what she could do. We left and say in the bar area as to not have to deal with it.
Ri Ra is a favorite spot of ours, so I was excited to introduce it to out of town guests. But even though I made the reservations a week in advance, the only table they had available was outside (we wanted to sit in the upstairs dining room). Then, when the waiter arrived, he immediately announced that they were out of their two best fish dishes (salmon and red fish). One of our guests already had planned to order the salmon, so he was quite disappointed. On top of all this, the service remained slow throughout the evening, especially after our dinner was served and when waiting for the check.
My boyfriend and I really loved the food; we went there 3 nights during our stay actually. It seemed authentic and was reasonably priced. My only complaint is the time it takes to get food. It was at least a 40 minute between ordering and getting our food each visit.
If you can eat upstairs, there is a great view. That is the restaurant's selling point. As there was a private event upstairs on the night of our reservation, we were placed downstairs, in a corner, next to the noisy bar, with no view. Portland's restaurant scene is too crowded to go elsewhere and Open Table had no way of letting us know the upstairs was reserved. Just bad timing.
Great atmosphere with friendly, excellent service! The fish & chips and fried clams were amazing - our compliments to the chef!!! We were in Portland for the night and a friend recommended we eat here - we will definitely be back!
Arrived 15 minutes prior to our reservation, but there was no one at the podium to seat or acknowledge us. We continued to wait, because were 2 bartenders within sight, one on his phone and the other 3 feet away, but they ignored us. With so many restaurants competing in such a small area, you would think this wouldn't be a problem. Left at the time of our reservation and enjoyed a better dinner close by.
The updated interior on the second story is light and bright with a fantastic view of Casco Bay. The meals were delicious and service timely. Thank you for providing a wonderful ambiance and experience for our business luncheon.
We went to RiRa's for their Father's Day brunch. Having made reservations we got a table on the second floor next to a window overlooking the docks leading out to Casco Bay. My wife had the Irish Benedict and I had the authentic Irish breakfast. The only disappointment was they were out of rashers (Irish bacon). The $3 mamosas were good as was the Bellini the my wife had. The food was slow to appear, but to be expected on this special day especially with all the tourists in town. We both enjoyed the meal and the ambiance. Excellent Irish pub/harbor environment for a casual meal or brunch.
Great pub food on the waterfront. We enjoyed avacado toast as an appetizer. I ordered fish and chips that was reminiscent of Ireland's best. My husband enjoyed his Shepherd's Pie as well. The Irish Coffee that we had for dessert was very tasty and warming on a cool, dreary night. The pub was very busy when we dined with a concert on the pier nearby attracting lots of folks to the bar, and two functions in the upstairs dining areas. We were still given very attentive and timely service. Our table was at the window overlooking the waterfront working boats and the pier concert. I would highly recommend dining at RiRa, especially if you would enjoy a casual dinner on the waterfront.
I've never been for lunch. Upstairs was the perfect place to take out of town guests. The food was actually the best I've ever had there. Mostly salads. Also burger, haddock sliders, spicey chicken fingers.
Beer was abit of a problem. Beers were being changed. Beer list was incorrect. Taps weren't working correctly. We made it work, but a bit embarrassing for the wait person. She did a good job.
We went to RiRa for Mother's Day this year. We always love the ambience, with a table right over the water. There was a grey and white Pacific grebe on the water below us, fishing and it was complimented by grey sky outside, but cheer, a lovely room and the sound of happy mothers around us made us feel welcome. . I had the Irish Bene and my husband had the fish and chips. Both were wonderful, and we would recommend both dishes to anyone! We will be going back, but after the summer tourist season is over, since RiRa is in the center of it all.
Went for an early dinner. Nobody at the door, and a sign to seat yourself, so we went to the bar. Started with a pint of Guinness. Best beer ever! Had the Cuban sandwich with a side of baked apple slices and fried Brussel sprouts. Amazing meal! Finished with Blueberry Rhubarb Pie--outstanding! Also had a pint of Allagash--very good. Bartenders were outstanding! Highly recommend!
The food was way below average. It had been years since I had gone to Ri RA. My last visit years ago, the menu was good; lamb stew etc. The menu now is limited and other then the appetizers being okay, the food was marginal at best. I ordered the Cottage Pie. The description promised beef brisket with peas and carrots and mashed potatoes with a crust of cheddar cheese. All that I received was a bowl of beef and mashed potatoes and I found no carrots and a single pea. Another diner ordered the 1/2 chicken. She had started to eat the breast portion but as she moved closer to the bone, she discovered it was not thoroughly cooked. Will not ever go back. Extremely pricey and there is no value for the dollar.
Drinks were over priced as well.
