Service was outstanding....we had a larger, rowdy group. Waitress was awesome! Thanks, Caroline!
We had the BEST MEAL and waiter upstairs tonight. 🍸🎉💕
The food is great but service was terrible. Granted there were multiple parties in there, but it was a pack house. It took 20 minutes for a waiter finally to come to our table. The tables around us were all being served, but us. The view was amazing though
Something for everyone. Irish pub downstairs with casual dining upstairs. We ate upstairs with our two daughters, ages 8 & 10. Our table was a window seat with water views. Loved seeing the boats enter & exit from the bay. Service & food were fantastic! Would definitely go back when back in the Portland area.
Waitress couldn’t make basic drinks. Said there was no bar staff. Disappointing because friends from out of town and menu was short the regular stuff and drinks weren’t possible etc
Even though short staffed the help was great . Good solid food great ambience !
We actually never got service or even acknowledged that we were there after being sat at our table for over 10mins. There were empty tables with dirty dishes. At least 5 in our area. Others didn’t look like they were getting service either. Clearly short staffed. I get that’s an issue right now but someone should acknowledge you and bring you water and take a drink order.
horrible horrible staff, the stairwell is not lit and I fell down the stairs Not one person came to help until the "manager" came and told me to move or call an ambulance. Will never go back, spent the night in the ER with a head injury.
Our sever was unwilling to ask anyone if I could have a slice of cucumber in my Hendrix GNT. She states the didn’t have any - even though it was in my friends greek salad.
Our food was average and the spices for two of our entrees were “clumped” into our dishes. Suddenly we received our check without being asked nor with any offer of deserts.
The food, service and ambiance met our expectations. We would have liked the music to continue but it ended rather early Sunday evening
Great food...awesome view...excellent service!
The food is always amazing. The staff is so friendly. I go here all the time because you just can’t have a bad time. You MUST order the hot cheddar ranch dip appetizer.
The restrooms downstairs were disgusting, they smelled like a sewage tank, the toilets were so dirty, plus a lot of dirty paper on the floor. They have probably not cleaned them in a long while.
Then we got on our table. We were very happy to be upstairs. The first waiter we had welcomed us with “well I guess I have you too…” terrible tone and body language. We should have left just then.
Everything I ordered was sold out. My daughter got pasta with butter… that pasta was rubbery, burnt. It was probably a few days old and reheated multiple times. I don’t think anyone could do something so bad. Then I also had water dripping on my face from the a/c. My husband, kids, and I moved our table. Two waitresses saw us and didn’t even offer to help to move the table full of drinks.
My husband’s 12oz NY strip was 8oz on its best day. The French fries, onion rings were terrible. The Caesar salad 10$ is maybe a side salad.
The best part is when I requested to talk to a manager, I waited maybe 10-15 mins to be able to talk to a person, and it was the manager… she couldn’t care less. I was waiting for her to start laughing on me face.
Don’t go there, save some time, money, and aggravation.
The food(that was available) was really good. Several things we wanted to order were not available. Waiter was nice but it took to the end of our meal to get water after mentioning the third time. Drinks were ok but not amazing.
Our bill was brought to us quickly when we were done which was good. Pet peeve waiting for the bill when you say you are done.
I like the food and the drinks at Ri Ra’s but it’s always a little sketch. Last time I was here there was no toilet paper or soap in the bathroom and there was a bloody pad on the floor. So nasty. I always wonder if that’s what the bathrooms are like then what does the kitchen look like? Service was slow but it seemed like there was only one waiter on shift so it can be excused. If nothing else is available then come here, but otherwise go somewhere else lol.
Anna our server was awesome and the food was perfect.
The business had a lot of “rules” that impacted the experience. For example, there was a drink on the menu that the bartender was not allowed to make as an individual drink, they had to create a big batch and that had not been done in a few days. Weird.
Also, we wanted to order drinks from our table as we waited for two of our guest to arrive (party of 10) and they refused to seat us until everyone had arrived. I get it and know this is common for tourists heavy restaurants, but decisions like this make it feel like the customer is not at the center of their operational philosophy. I hope the reconsider in the future.
A fun place. I mean it’s a pub not fine dining. The food was good. Service very good. Loved the seating on the couches and views of the ferry coming and going. It was early so the noise level was reasonable. Downstairs in the bar couldn’t hear yourself think!
I would recommend it and go again. A casual fun place with good food!
It was a little warm upstairs but other then that it was a great time.
Incredible food. Great service. Clean and calming atmosphere.
The food is ok. We got wings, burger, grain bowl w salmon, Shepard’s pie. It was ok and the salmon was way over cooked (saying a lot as I usually like food well done). Drinks good. Service good. Such a beautiful location. With all the other amazing restaurants in Portland, we will likely not come back often.
The upstairs is a totally different vibe from the downstairs pub. This place is beautiful and looks out over the water. Comfy seating and good food! It’s an easy spot to grab a drink or have a casual/formal lunch!
My husband ordered the Bangers & Mash expecting a traditional Irish or English banger and instead got a very spicy kielbasa, so needless to say he was disappointed. I had a Caesar salad with chicken which was excellent. We had a great view so overall it was OK. But at 6:30 on a Friday night they were sold out of the Shepard’s pie and 3 of their 5 deserts. At 6:30 the noise level was fine but by the time we left you couldn’t hear the person across the table.
Food was great and I have Celiac disease yet did not get glutened at all. Thank you for being so careful with cross contamination.
Both my husband and I ordered the Fish and Chips. It was excellent. Our server was pleasant and efficient. My only complaints are that our seating was more like lounge chairs rather than dining ones, and on a hot and humid day, it could have been cooler.
We did arrive a little early for our reservation, but they were able to accommodate us. However, it then took over 20 mins to even have a sever come over to us and another 20 to get our drinks that tasted as if they were sitting at service bar the entire time. It was a holiday weekend and I think Maine just fully reopened, so some kinks are to be expected but it was pretty disappointing experience. Also received no waters despite asking twice. Lobster egg rolls were delicious though!
Overall disappointing, we had 7:45 reservations and they are gracious to seat us early at 7:00.
Very limited menu, which is understandable for a pub, but to be out of 3 items (steak frites, lobster and Shepard’s pie) - and iced t - by 7pm on a Saturday is just not acceptable.
Food was good, noting limitations, and server was pleasant but an hour and 45 mins for bar food is not acceptable either.
We made reservations but had to wiggle our way through a 50th birthday party to get to our table. The food was okay - not what I expected from a restaurant that calls itself an Irish pub. I did love the onion rings and the pub burger but not the cocktail I ordered; blueberry fields forever. It tasted like baby aspirin. Would I go back? Probably not. This restaurant indicates its upscale, but it is not! It’s a burger bar. There’s a lot of great restaurants in Portland I like better.
Awesome birthday celebration for my moms 83rd! Shoutout to Caroline M our wonderful waitress! We had an amazing meal and service was great!
Poor ambience due to heat and poor accommodating service regarding long wait to be seated.
Sat upstairs, it was so cool and pleasant and quiet. Service was fast and excellent, food was fantastic. Great experience!
Great food and loved our window seat to see the water and boats. Food was awesome. Highly recommend the nachos with beef! The fish and chips were amazing, too big for the plate. Lamb Burger was excellent too. We all loved the vibe of this Irish pub. We will be back!
Beautiful setting over the harbor with delicious food. The food prices were appropriate for Portland, but we felt the cocktail prices were too high.
Great lunch and excellent service! Outdoor seating was good. Upstairs is beautiful
Ri Ra was a great place to grab dinner on a Thursday night! We made a reservation and ate upstairs. Incredible dinner with a beautiful water view. I forget our waitress's name, but she was so kind and made great conversation with us, checked-in frequently to make sure we were all set, and was super patient with us when we weren't ready to order. The drinks were excellent and the food service was pretty fast. For two people we were there for about an hour. Only a few other parties seated upstairs but downstairs was lively. Will be back!
Service was inconsistent. Food was just above average.
Only downside was we waited almost half hour for a server. I can’t blame them because they were doing their own bar tending and food service. Our food was fantastic and waiter was super friendly ! Would definitely go back on our next trip to Portland.
My food wasn't sufficiently cooked but, the waiter immediately took it to the kitchen and they prepared a replacement meal that was of excellent quality. Two thumbs up!!
Overall the only good thing was the environment. Table by the water, asked for a more comfortable table and was told no it was reserved. There were 2 tables, ours and 1 other while there! No one ever sat there.
The food took forever, again two tables. Our order was simple, just snacks while shopping in Portland. Our food was poor at best- chowder was served barely warm. Mine had potatoes I tasted no seafood. The other two diners with me experienced the same. We sent them back and again 10 minutes to get now lukewarm chowder. The nachos had no cheese really and the little bit that was on was burnt. Lastly, we also ordered wings which were dry (no sauce really) and my son felt bad after eating 3. Basically disappointed we even picked this place to eat. One good detail was the view of the water, that’s about it.
Great spot for a tasty bite to eat near the harbor. We were seated at a very nice interior table that overlooked the water. Everyone enjoyed their appetizers and entrees, I was also pleasantly surprised by the number of gluten free options.
Enjoyable evening with delicious seafood chowder to start. Disappointed that the lobster egg rolls were sold out. Dark and Stormy came to the table unmixed. Straws were not available so needed to wait until server delivered silverware to enjoy my cocktail. Burgers and french fries were tasty. Pleasant server but not overly attentive with waits between deliveries.
