Rhein Haus - Tacoma
As always excellent service and nice, knowledgeable wait staff. This is a busy place on a Saturday night but we never felt rushed and there was lots to watch and do. The pork shank is the best meal we have ever had there! So good!
Service was attentive and personable and the food was great.
The hostess was beyond rude - my party was seated as I parked, I waited for 7 minutes as the hostess talked on the phone, the manager talked on the phone...... not so much as a word - ridiculous.
When I finally got the attention of a third hostess, the server ( blonde bob, yellow sweater, black skirt ) felt the need to argue with me about how long I waited without acknowledgement! We won’t be back.
We went for new year's. It was our first time as well, so it was a new experience.
I ordered the jagerschnitzel, but apparently they were out. It was only 730pm and they were out of food. Should have planned better. I got the doner instead. It was ok. Meat was dry and it was like warm. I could have gotten better and cheaper from a place in Seattle or even Arby's, which is funny because everything is expensive there and that's fast food.
The chicken sliders were not very good.
Overall kind of disappointed. Plus, after i made the reservation, they called me and actually said, we are "kicking people out" at 9pm because we gave a DJ coming in and there will be a cover charge. That was probably the worst way to call someone. Could have politely said, "we have special entertainment coming for the holiday and it will be a 21 and over only crowd. Service for underage wont be provided after 9PM and we politely ask guests to keep that in mind while dining with us." It was unprofessional to call me up and actually say we're kicking people out.
We won't be going back.
Stick to your ribs food - easy substitutions. We like the Rhein Haus, and wish the sides were as good as the sausage! Great beer selection.
We went to have Jager Schnitzel , it was sold out, my husband and I were super disappointed . I decided to order the sampler platter, chicken schnitzel, cheddar wurst, and brat wurst with a side of potato dumplings. The chicken schnitzel slider was bland, it was missing something. The brat wurst was delicious, and the cheddar wurst was overly salty. The potato dumplings were over seasoned. Whatever they use to season it it was over powering and perfumy. For the price the meal was disappointing. I
Great local spot to have dinner and drinks. Close to the Tacoma Little Theater.
All in all, this is a great place for the entire family to enjoy. Good food (large portions!), a great beer list and prompt/friendly service made for an enjoyable evening. We both had the jaegerschnitzel which was fantastic! It normally comes with red cabbage and garlic mashed potatoes, which my wife said were excellent. I substituted sour kraut and spaetzel and really enjoyed them as well. Great job Rhein Haus Tacoma!!!
Servers were wonderful
Loved the restaurant the last time we were there, but they have cut the schnitzel selection to 2 choices. The beer was good, wurst is good, dessert was good, got to watch 2 football games while we were there.
Our waiter, Gabe was great. The food was good and service once we were seated was perfect.
When I arrived to check in the first hostess looked through me like I was invisible, no smile or acknowledgement that I was waiting. The other girl arrived back and when I told her my name, she said "oh I tried calling you several times today because were not accepting OpenTable reservations for tonight but I think we might still have a table for you." Just a negative way to start the interaction.
Great tasting, authentic German food! Could eat here everyday. Service was terrific too. Reasonably priced, plenty of variety on the menu. I will definitely be back!
Our experience was mixed. I chose this place because I heard they had games and was family friendly. I had a couple hours to kill with my family between events in Tacoma and I thought this would entertain my kids. I didn't realize most of the games cost extra. The corn hole and bocce was posted as free on Sundays (which it was when we visited) and so we started a game of corn hole, when a server told us that the court was reserved for a private party (not posted anywhere, and another server told us we could play). At least she gave us a a free round of mini golf as a consolation prize. My kids enjoyed that. The food is OK for German food, but let's be honest, German food is not that great. The giant pretzel was good, as was the sidecar cocktail (I don't do beer, which is mostly what they serve). Not sure we'll be back.
All the servers were fabulous, professional, gracious, And fun to talk to. There’s a fireplace with a giant Jenga you can hang out with to have coffee with friends before you go to your table. They have a really neat looking indoor golf course as well as beanbag toss and board games. All done very tastefully, we’re not talking about Dave & Buster’s here.
The double pork shank I had was one of the best pieces of meat I’ve ever had my life. The fried brussels sprouts were on point. And the vegan options were out of this world.
Guarantee you I will be back.
Excited to visit the Rhein Haus in Leavenworth this summer!
We visited The Rein Haus for the first time after the TSO concert at the Tacoma Dome, with our family. We had the most amazing time! Great food, awesome service, entertaining and beautiful environment! We were able to play a round of putt putt which was a blast!! Thank you for creating such an incredible place to gather, have great food, service and entertainment!
Great meal wonderful service and accent location for group gatherings
Great place for a date night! Get the ginormous pretzel!
This is a new family favorite. Everyone loved the food and the atmosphere. It's not cheap, but worth every penny. I would highly recommend getting a pretzel. They're still warm when they come out and they taste amazing.
Very nice environment for get together with family and friends. The first server was nice and friendly. He knew how to approach without being pushy. Unfortunately he had to leave. Then 2 female servers took his section. That's when I got annoyed. I was finishing my drink about to order another one, the server asked if I wanted the dessert menu. I was sitting by the bar. It wasn't even busy anymore that she really needed to kick me out.
That was my second time. In fact I went back bc of my first impression. I really hope I won't be served by female server next time. Other than that it was great place with delicious food.
Overall a good place to eat. Had the VEGGIE SCHNITZEL, which was quite tasty with all the fixings and a side of roasted broccoli. Although the broccoli sounds and looks good on the menu, when it came to the table it seemed not so healthy. It was bathed in processed yellow cheese, covered with fried onions and too salty. Could not eat it. A side of potato dumplings with mushroom gravy was blah and nothing to rave about. My companion had NUREMBERG and said it was good. They do give plenty of food enough to take home the leftovers which is nice. I'd go back to try their salads and desserts next time. It's nice that they have improved their menu from meat heavy to some vegetarian/vegan/GF options.
I love Rhein Haus, whether it is in Seattle, or Leavenworth, so I took friends to the Tacoma one for the first time. Big place with lots of fun activities. For the most part the food was good, except the spaetzle was very pasty/gummy and bland and my pumpkin cheesecake was only a crust. No cheesecake! Not one bit of cream cheese or pumpkin. What I got looked like a 1/2" thick 6" diameter cookie with some topping in the middle. It just had to be the crust because I couldn't cut it with a fork. Had to pick it up and eat it with my fingers, just like a cookie. Didn't say anything because we were in a hurry to get to a show and I thought maybe I misread the menu. After I got home, looked online and the description is definitely what you would expect. So, of the four of us I was the only one disappointed with the food, but I will still go back because it is a fun place and overall the food is definitely good.
We were at this restaurant about a year ago and had the chicken schnitzel and a great white gravy on our mashed potatoes. This time we were left with very few options and no taste in any of the food. Everything needed salt. Not going back.
Such a fun stop to bring the whole family! We loved the games and food.
We had a cozy table for two, and it was a terrific date night! Our server, Maddy, knew the menu like a pro and was able to make great recommendations for food and beverages. The beer selection here can't be beat. I hope Rhein Haus keeps that Muenster Mash on the menu year round. WOW.
This is a great place to dine, drink and have a good time! There is lots to do, look at and they have a great menu. I would visit Rhein Haus any chance I got!
I enjoyed taking my family out to Rhein Haus to help celebrate my dad's early birthday. Had a great time and our waitress was super friendly and hospitable!! They were even kind enough to surprise us with a sweet treat at the end of our meal to help celebrate the occasion.
Great atmosphere, great service, great food!
This gets a "fine" rating from me. I wouldn't make a special trip there. Location is large and has indoor putt putt and bacci ball. So, it's noisy. Nice beer selection.
Menu was limited, burger was bland, beer selection was good.
Had a wonderful birthday here
The Rhein Haus was such a fun date night! Will come back again and play putt putt. Good music and atmosphere.
Fun little game of putt putt pre-dinner. They had our table ready as we finished. Great German style food with tasty starters. Wonderful desserts! Excellent service all around. Super fun watching the bocce ball players. Excellent experience! We’ll be back for sure.
Rhein Haus is great for a fun night out with friends. Great Beer selection, bocce ball and putt putt golf indoors - but the food is a little pricey. The giant bagel is great, and the dipping sauces are good, but $16 for bread? The spaetzle is mushy and the schnitzel is expensive and not crunchy. The sausages are ok. This is not an authentic experience - it is more like a German theme park, but is still fun with friends!
Good place for large groups. Lots of street parking after 8:00 pm. Bocce ball was free after 10:00 pm.
the only complaint I have is about the tall chairs - not to comfortable...
we had a very fun birthday celebration for my son.
Could use more consistency in the food, Burger was smaller than I received the last time. Decent food for your money.
Was surprised how large the restaurant was. Huge - wish we had a little more time to play the mini-golf course they had there. Service was quick and our waiter was friendly. Thought the menu was a little limited but what I ordered was tasty. Would have liked my kielbasa to be a little warmer - it was barely above room temperature. Good selection of mustards. I had the blueberry mule to drink and it was delicious. Would eat here again if I was in the area.
My husband and I have been here for a date-night 3 different times and the food is always great but the service is lacking. We’ve taken my parents twice and the first time was just awful with service... we took them a few days ago to give it another try... it was my moms birthday- service sucked again. We ordered appetizers and never got them. When we brought it to the attention of our server- she just shrugged her shoulders and said the kitchen messed up.
The food was great and the service was excellent. I don't know how they make their walnuts, but they are addictive! Tried a wonderful assortment of meats countered with pickled veges and mustard seeds: yum!
