Rhein Haus - Tacoma
Food was awesome service was beyond expectation and it was a great family gathering.
While the overall experience was good the menu was skimpy for this type of restaurant.
Had a good time but will likely be the only time based on the Seattle-esque prices.
At the low end of prices was $15 for a fancy german hot dog (essentially) with fries, and it goes upwards of $20 - 25 for any real meals. Sorry, hot dogs no matter how fancy are NOT an adult meal, and $15 is over priced for a kids meal.
Atmosphere feels like everyday. Prices are Special Occasion.
This was my fourth visit. The food was mediocre at best the last 3 times and I did not post a review. This time the food was awful and I will not be returning. Very disappointing.
Bavarian ambiance and lots of activities for the entire family. Highly recommended.
Maddy was friendly and smiling.
We enjoyed this restaurant. Food was good. We were disappointed with the giant pretzel, more like bread than a pretzel. The small pretzels were delicious though, stick with those. Our server was trying very hard to keep up with all her tables, but it seemed like she had a lot of tables to serve.
This was my family’s first time eating here. We had three servers in an hour. The food was ok, at best.Food portions were large but if your food isn’t good, it’s just a waste. We wanted to like it here but don’t plan on going back.
The animal heads on the walls are a major deterrent. We won't be back for that reason alone. It's not German or folksy, it's just disturbing.
This is our second experience here. Both times on weekends. The parking was easy. The food was excellent! The wait staff were very helpful with questions on different beers and food. Our 2 year old grandson had the time of his life on Easter. A very welcoming place to go and eat and have fun! We travel from Olympia and it is well worth the drive! We will be back and will spread the news of the awesome place that is The Rhein Haus!
We were celebrating the end of our ski bus season and decided to go to the Rhein and sure glad we did. We started with a game of Bocce Ball and wine...then dinner, of course. Good food and service. Will be back, definitely!
It may not be the very best German food you'll ever have, but the experience is worth it if you have kids who like sausages and putt putt! Adults can peacefully sip some beers while the kids keep themselves entertained. Also, the Goulash soup was actually quite good.
Like this place. The ambience is terrific. Our waitress was super sweet and attentive. Love the giant pretzel.
The Jagerschnitzle was way to dark, looked over cooked. Restaurant was way too cold ( to many fans, we had to sit at the tall tables and it was still cold there. My Pork Shank was great though and so was the donut desert
Definitely less crowded on the weekdays. Service was great and food was delicious!
We enjoy the restaurant and food but it is way too loud. Three times we’ve gone and you always feels like your yelling or the worst part is having loud people next to you. The taller bar style tables are not comfy and the chairs hurt. Don’t want to hate on the place but we would come a lot more if it was better laid out. Food was fantastic and beer tasty so will continue to come back for that just pick our times maybe more wisely. This last dinner we had to ask the drink women next to us to step aside cause they kept hitting our table. My 17 year old was sat next to the bar and I made a reservation stating her age. I enjoy the bar scene but not when people around you are standing up and spilling drinks on us as they babble.
The food was good, the ambiance was ok but loud, there was difficulty finding a parking spot that was close. Construction made it difficult to maneuver around to the entrance of the restaurant. But the food made it worth the trip from Gig Harbor
It’s a fun place to grab food and beer. Not much to offer for cider fans though they have a fun list of shandys. They seemed to be cleaned out of specials by our 6 o’clock reservation which was a little disappointing.
This was such a fun place to go. Food was good and plentiful . You will have a fun evening if you pick this place.
Rhein Haus is a fun place to take people of any age. Parking can be a pain but it is worth it. Food and service are amazing. Love this place!
I would still recommend this place to a friend despite the menu needing more options. There are plenty more options for German cuisine. I was able to get more food at a German restaurant in Portland for a cheaper price so maybe look into that if possible.
I was offered a pretzel, I looked at the menu and thought I was ordering the $5 pretzel, when the bill came, I was charged $16! If there were two options, I should have been informed and asked which I would like. Food wasn’t great, my mom ordered a drink that wasn’t great either, and parking was a nightmare. Not interested in returning.
Quality of food was poor.
We were there when it opened and food tasted like leftovers reheated.
Love the food, portions just a bit small. Excellent selection of beers.
I have been to this restaurant a few times and have always had a great experience. I was disappointed that the table we got was in the corner by the end of the mini golf game and the ring toss game. Just an alone table in a corner, but were tons of people are just standing around waiting for games which added to the already loud atmosphere. I just thought it was so weird. It seemed like they just stuck a table in the corner and was like this will work. So I found that to be disappointing.
Excellent food and atmosphere! They only problem we had was it was so loud we couldn’t really carry on a conversation. Three people in our party wear hearing aids and they couldn’t really hear to be part of the conversation.
The food and service were great, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. This was our second visit, and we will return
We had a good time but wanted to play Bocce Ball. The website says no reservations for Bocce on Friday & Saturday but when we got there the hostess said there were no openings till 9 pm. We were disappointed to not be able to play.
Service sucks!!! If servers don’t enjoy their work, stay home, and it’s wasn’t just with the one I couldn’t believe they were all that miserable,
My first time there was ruined by horrible service, I am a fair person so I will be trying them again,so fingers cross and stay tuned!!!
Service was super slow. I'm going to believe it was an off-night for them. Seattle is a lot better in terms of service.
Interesting place with a fun atmosphere and lots of fun things to do. A great idea for family (or adult) outings. We were there for the Meat Raffle, what a fun idea! We didn't win any meat but we had fun.
Waiter seemed like he was new or not into his job... food was ok.....
Some of the food was disappointing, some if it was very good. Just be careful what you order. Staff was fine, everyone was attentive.
Relaxed environment and great food and service! So many gluten free options!!
Had a great time. Enjoyed the games and environment! Great food.
We had a great time at the Rhein Haus for dinner before a concert. The beer selections were wonderful and we had a fun time trying some new draft choices. We started with a regular pretzel (having been told the large was GIANT) with the beer fondue and horseradish cream. Both were delicious and paired well with the beer. For dinner we shared the chicken schnitzel with waffle. It’s served in a bowl with gravy in a cup, which is great because you can dip your chicken in if you want to control the amount of gravy. The waffle tasted of caramelized sugar and had chunks of sweetness. It was like dinner and desert all wrapped together. Our daughter ordered a burger, but made the mistake of ordering the impossible burger without fully reading the description. She wasn’t a fan and thought the meat was too sweet with an odd texture. After asking the server she let us know that was the homemade veggie patty. Well, for a veggie patty it was pretty good, but it wasn’t what my teenager thought appetizing. They offered a new patty, but she wasn’t hungry anymore and declined. A lesson in always reading the menu carefully!! Would definitely go back and try more items.
We ended up sitting in the bar since it wasn't too busy when we got there. The food was good, but our fries were COLD. We eventually ended up getting fresh ones with no apology or offer of a discount. Great selection of sausages !
21st Birthday Celebration. Always enjoy dining here, but the parking (lack thereof) is ridiculous.
I really like the Rhein Haus, as did all the members of our group. This is the second time we have been there. The food is good and is a good value for the cost. I am very familiar with Germanic foods and the Rhein Haus take on the standards is a bit different but very tasty. I had the Jager Schnitzel and the sauce with the Speck in it was very tasty. Others in our group had the Schweinshaxe, the Doner Kebab and sausage dishes and all were praised. We started with the Giant Pretzel, which was fun and tasty, and the Charcuterie Board which was excellent. The beer drinkers in our group praised the choices available. The service was good even though the restaurant was very full. Our server was attentive and responsive to our requests. The restaurant was a bit noisy as it was so full , but not obnoxiously so. I would have gladly given Five Stars for this review based on the good food and great service, except that both times we have been there, parking has been non-existent anywhere near the restaurant. While parking a distance away is not a disaster, it is not very convenient or desirable either.
Food was great, and the beer was even better. Best Yager Schnitzel I have had.
