We got seats at the chefs table and it was wonderful! The lamb dish was by far the standout but we also ordered the falafel, the special, and the duck and each dish was perfect.
Great place! Incredible food. Order the sharing menu. You won't be disappointed!
Food could be better. Service was great
Reyla is a favorite go-to restaurant for us. The food quality is consistent, fresh and delicious. The service is always great, and the kitchen is amazingly fast. It was a bit windy to sit outside so we opted to eat inside. We had a great table location in the alcove area. We want to try sitting at the cook's area the next time we go. But, we wouldn't want to sit at the tables in the back, the noise level is too high for us.
Very disappointed with the portions, could have had a full dinner at other AP restaurants for slightly more. My wife and I actually left hungry and went to the Windmill after the show we attended.
Ok service the host is rude for late night seating. Only thin good on the menu is the lamb dish. Everything else, chicken, eggplant, hummus is all pretty bad.
Awesome experience! Will def be back soon!
It was a slow night in downtown Asbury Park due to a concert on the beach, so we were seated outside to watch the people and pets stroll by while we dined. The menu is all small plates and our server, Silviano suggested 5-7 small plates for 2 people. We started off with creative cocktails prepared exactly as we ordered. The plates came out in no particular order, but each was excellent. My favorite was the LAMB ARABES al pastor, smoked pineapple tahini, cucumber on a pita. Second favorite was the CAULIFLOWER tabbouleh style, harissa fried shitake, zucchini, lemon vin. We also had the TURKISH clay pot baked, butter hummus and the BEETS za’atar carrots, labne, sumac vin . Each plate was delicious and fresh. We ended the meal with a great NY style cheesecake. As good as the food was, the service was even BETTER! Our waiter was friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable of the menu.
We will definitely be back.
Eh, we got the Turkish hummus which was great, but the mussels were gross. They were it what tasted like a thick mixture of corn and chili powder. We came here around two years ago and had an amazing meal, which included the mussels. Really bummed about this experience.
The change of the menu was a great decision. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The waiter was extremely friendly and helpful. The duck, shrimp, and chicken were all tasty. We ordered six tapas, but five would have been enough for two of us.
We had the amazing tasting menu. Everything was so well prepared, tasty and shareable. We will be back!
They try to convince you to order the $135 dozen plates. Mostly vegetables and the meat portions were not enough for party of 4. Had my leftover sandwich when we got back home. Asbury Park has many great restaurants such as Pascal and Sabine. REYLA is not one of them.
I usually don't write negative reviews, but I was disappointed here. I made a reservation for 4 people on OpenTable for 6:15pm last night. I called the restaurant to let them know I was running 10 mins late, and the girl who answered the phone said in a rude tone, "Um, I guess that's ok. Just so you know there will be a table arriving at 8pm sitting at your exact table." I was a little surprised at that response, especially because it was just 10 mins and I was trying to be polite by letting them know. Also, the restaurant was pretty much empty when we got there, so I don't know why 10 mins late was an issue. We also were seated directly next to the kitchen door where waiters were coming in and out even though most of the other tables were open! The food was average. Fresh food but everything sort of tasted the same with similar ingredients just different combos. Apparently the menu was different before, so maybe things recently changed. Overall, just not impressed and won't go again. Our waiter was pleasant though and kept filling the water, which I appreciate!
The menu was limited with out a good selection
Not many choices , not great at all
Loved it from start to finish. The bar, the staff and the food were excellent. Can’t wait to go back.
When we arrived , the restaurant was basically empty so we sat at the bar and were virtually ignored by the staff. They seemed understaffed from the start , and indifferent to asking us if we’d like a cocktail to start ( even though we were sitting at the bar !) . Finally the bartender emerged from his setup activities and we ordered a couple drinks and two small plates each . Finally, one plate arrived for one diner, then the second shortly after ( for the same diner ) ., then ....... nothing . We were very hungry and asked where the other small plates were , and were told that they come out when ready in no particular order . An agonizingly long wait in a virtually empty understaffed restaurant , with indifferent service . Although the food was very tasty , the experience was already ruined and we left quickly , still hungry after dropping nearly $100.
With all the other excellent options available nearby, we won’t bother returning as it seems to be inconvenient for Reyla to provide adequate staff, prompt service , or even ask how your meal is and if you are enjoying it. Ridiculous .
Excellent all around - great service w Mike and every plate delicious and satisfying. Wines are unique and my friends Pimms cup was crisp and fresh. 3 friends shared about 7 plates. Thank you!!
Just an amazing place with delicious well presented food. The cocktail drinks are just amazing and the service is literally top notch. Worth it!!!
Went to Reyna last year and it was great. Upon greeting from wait staff and reviewing the menu, we were informed that the menu changed 80% and is all new dishes. BIG mistake.
Nothing was very memorable. The Turkish hummus was greasy ( Zahav in Philadelphia knows Turkish hummus!)
The eggplant dish was awful, they forgot to bring out one of our dishes and the veggies were pickled and the vinegar was overwhelming. The waiter told us they take the leftover vegetables from entrees and pickle them rather than toss them. Yummy!
Don’t recommend going to Reyla and on a Sunday in mid summer, the place was empty; a sure sign of trouble.
Bring back the old menu (whole fish) and maybe a return visit is in the future.
Delicious dinner, interesting menu, great cocktails, good service. But it was uncomfortably hot in there. This is a very good restaurant but they need better air conditioning. It was really hot. I hope to return, but I don't think I would on a warm day.
Great food but the music was way too loud...especially with the amount of communication the menu required the wait staff to have with guests.
We had a fantastic experience here for dinner. We decided to celebrate our anniversary at Reyla and had noted that on our reservation. When we got to the table, the staff had signed a card and gave us a gift certificate — I was blown away at the thoughtful and generous gesture. Our server was great and worked with the kitchen to confirm that the dishes could be prepared gluten free (not always possible at most restaurants). We orders about 8 dishes to share and all of them were incredibly flavorful and tasty. The hummus is a must and gluten free Bread was delicious. The cauliflower and eggplant dishes were so vibrant and creative. The duck and pork belly were fantastic meat choices. Honestly, we didn’t have a bad dish! We’re definitely going back and would recommend it to our friends and family for an elevated, but totally approachable dining experience in Asbury Park.
We have been to Reyla several times. This was the first time though since they introduced their new menu and under went a renovation. The new menu is limited. This is a small plates, sharing restaurant and so we picked seven items. Two hours after we were seated we received the seventh and last dish, and that was because we had to count and remind the server what we had and what had not yet come out of the kitchen. It was very disorganized and while our server tried, it seemed the kitchen was the issue. Our neighboring table had the same issue. The food at Reyla is good, and so we will give it another chance.
This restaurant keeps getting better and better. We shared the 12 course menu between 4 people. Most of the dishes were really delicious. In particular, the long hots with grilled dates. That was truly outstanding. The chef stopped by with our final course and the manager checked in on us. Great service and a great meal. We will definitely be back for more.
Another great experience
First time here and was pleasantly surprised. Great brunch and atmosphere
First time diner. Went with 2 girlfriends. Service was outstanding. WE were met immediately and enthusiastically by the hostess. Our waiter was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable, but not obtrusive. The entire staff made us feel as if they were thrilled to have us join them for the evening. Drinks came rapidly. (I had a very interesting rum drink). The food was outstanding and moderately priced. Most enjoyable was the duck and the eggplant. I highly recommend both. We were even offered a complimentary dish, a unique fallafel. Noise level was a bit high but tolerable. Overall, I Love this place! And will definitely go back.
I like it when a restaurant changes their menu to reflect what is in season. Reyla’s recent change was not a good move and will push many of their regulars to dine elsewhere. The portions have shrunk - dramatically and they’ve removed popular dishes like the large plate couscous. Overall, the flavors were delicious except for mussels smothered in chili paste.
Gave us excellent service and a surprise for our anniversary. Food was fantastic. Highly recommend.
Twyla was my favorite restaurant in asbury until now. Menu is so much more limited than it used to be. No fish. Disappointed
Very efficient and great seevice
The food was excellent, authentic, flavorful. Portions could be bigger, too yummy!
The price is ridiculous considering how small the plates were! I get that they’re tasting portions but this was sort of ridiculous. There was barely enough for three people to get a taste of each dish! And it’s not like the ingredients are rare, expensive foods. The food was delicious but I probably wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone else because of the portion size and how overpriced it is.
We sat at one of the sidewalk tables for dinner, which was great. I miss some of the old menu items (however the new Kale dish is great). Reyla is still hands down my favorite restaurant in Asbury.
Mike was a great server ad the chefs were smiling and love their job
Incredible! Absolutely beautiful, great service! Food was amazing. Portions were on the smaller side but very filling if you like to have an appetizer first. Came for Mother’s Day and they had a very cute mimosa bar set up. The new interior design is so perfectly laid out and pleasing. Will be back again.
Everyone was great from the chefs preparation to the great drinks
Eclectic menu with excellent choices. Food was well prepared and plated. Each dish was enough to share. Interesting drink menu and nice wine list makes this a great stop for a night out with a lite bite. Comfortable bar area as well. Would have rated five but they were out of two items on the menu.
Awesome and authentic!!
