The surroundings were very warm and attractive, and the staff attentive... but they twice tried to remove plates that were not finished (succeeding in one case). Three messages asking about disabled access were never answered, so I drove over there to take a look in order to find out. (They do have disabled access.) On the other hand, I appreciated the bubbly they brought us for our anniversary celebration.
I imagine myself to have adventurous tastes, so when I read some reviews saying the food was too weird, I thought I would find it interesting. Some things were delicious, especially salads and appetizers, but some were indeed too weird for us. The seaweed on the fish was very fishy and strongly flavored, and my lamb rib, though flavored very well, was a square in which it was not possible to tell meat from fat, and almost half the bites i took turned out to be entirely fat.
Panna Cotta for dessert was wonderful.

The trout was amazing. The crudo was a bit tough (quality?) Nice service, beautiful atmosphere.

The ambiance was appropriate, original and tasteful. The food innovative and delicious. The wait staff was attentive without being overbearing, knowledgable without pretense.

Altogether a delightful experience.

This restaurant met every expectation that I had. Dishes were creative with flavors, the staff was attentive, the ambiance was spot on, and the presentation was solid.

We held a birthday event at the Applewood Inn restaurant Saturday evening. The group consisted of 9 people in our 50's and 60's who are world travelers having extensive experience with high end food and wine. Several of our group had been to the Applewood Inn in the fairly recent past and have delightful memories. This experience, in contrast, was horrible. The restaurant was overbooked and the staff a bit overwhelmed. The wait staff was really hustling and trying their best to do a good job. The menu consisted of grand total three main dishes with a few starters available. I chose the flat iron steak, as did several of our group. One lady in our party asked for the sauce on the side. The response was, "Oh no, Chef would never do that". Very strange. So much for the customer is always right. When that main dish was served, it was not acceptable. The sauce was a pungent, fishy concoction; completely incongruent with the meat. It ruined the meal. I ate less that half. No one came close to finishing their "main dish". When the "Operations Manager" came over to ask how things went, we reported the experience in detail. He indicated that the Chef was from Scandinavia, a confirmed genius and would never make a misstep. He implied that our group simply did not understand fine dining. His arrogance was only matched by his total indifference. As we enjoyed a wonderful dinner the following evening at Baci in Healdsburg, we all agreed the Applewood Inn dinner was one of the worst experiences of our collective dining lives. We visit Napa and Sonoma frequently and we concluded that Revival earned the ignoble distinction of being the initial entry in our "must miss" list. C'est la vie.

This location and ambiance is lovely. We had wonderful, friendly prompt service. And then the tiny menu arrived. Not many choices here. Ok. It's farm to table... The seasonal melon came with two microscopic bites of ok melon with some "shiso" grounds on top. Nothing great about this. Our local Crane Melons blow away this melon. Then a very off-putting and strange combination of potatoes with mussel emulsion, a thick black gu. Just plain yuk. (Fishy potatoes) Then a nice lettuce salad perfectly dressed and smoked almonds added a nice touch. And the main course was, you guessed, a tiny portion for $30+. No rice, mashed potatoes, or any starch. Ok I guess it is Paleo... The Cod was lovely. Delicious if small. The leg of lamb was tiny and nothing special and the steak was really ordinary. And only one other vegetarian choice of the main course choices, something Pumpkin. The best part, however, were the desserts! Very inventive (it works for these dishes). Not too sweet with many layers of flavors.
Overall, I would not return here if you are hungry. A case of trying too hard to invent and falling short.

Our first time to Revival, although we'd been dining at Applewood Inn for years, under its many iterations.

The remodel of the dining space is beautiful - cozy and casually elegant.

The creative! I can't say we've been anywhere recently that was so innovative - everything was simply wonderful. We had the raw beef on toast, heirloom tomatoes with strawberry hot sauce (wow!), butterball potato, and the five-dot ranch flat iron. For dessert, they had two options and we tried both: a very well made panna cotta with gravenstein apple and a delicious and refreshing strawberry sorbet.

Can't wait to go back!

Nice space in a beautiful setting. Food was inventive, well-presented, well-prepared and very tasty. Service was friendly and very attentive at first, then waned. We waited too long at the end to receive the check.
