The food is always fantastic here but I have been a longtime fan of this restaurant since 2017, and I have noticed that the portions have been getting smaller and smaller here. Also, the cocktails were crazy overpriced. I work in the industry so I know what things typically cost. I ordered an old fashioned with Suntory Toki whiskey which was listed on the Captain’s List for 10$. Now I understand, as a bartender, it is customary for bars to add a small up charge for a cocktail, usually between $2 to $6 dollars. Revel charges 9$ to add bitter and simple syrup to whiskey! This just feels excessive to charge 19$ for a drink that should have been approximately 14$. The same thing was done to my girlfriend’s drink, it was a 12$ up charge. Not to mention that they have instituted a 22% “service charge” this is not considered a tip, and the server only receives 14% of this fee. The whole experience felt very shady, I don’t mind splurging on great food, and a great experience, while also taking care of my server, but this simply felt like I was being taken advantage of. I don’t care how good the food is I will never be back here since my trust in this establishment has been eroded. Really disappointed in this business, since it used to be one of my favorite places.

It was very good. We were there celebrating my husband’s birthday. It did get pretty busy around the time we were ready for dessert. When the dessert came, it was without the birthday candle I’d requested on Open Table. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice if that detail had happened.

Loved the food! Really appreciated the server pairing dishes for best taste combinations. Enjoyed everything!! Top notes were the green papaya and asparagus salad (yum!!!), wontons (yum!!), and the coulette Tanaka (yum!!). I live near Fremont and frequently enjoy revel and joule. Very fortunate to have two amazing restaurants nearby!!

Working off the reviews, it could have been an off night, but I was disappointed in the menu presentation (very worn sheets and dirty), limited signage to get to the bathroom, the general appearance of the restaurant (in the bar, there was a mirror above the table with 5-6 scratches on it. My first impression was: could the owners have lost interest in this place? We ordered the green papaya and asparagus salad and the pea vine salad. They were both tasty enough but not " knock your socks off". The presentation was lacking. Our Coulotte steak 8 oz. was cooked to a very nice medium rare, but at least 3 pieces of it was grisly and chewy. The sunchoke chips were not momentous, the sauce- just okay. For $34, the dish lacked finesse. The service was attentive, and when I made a comment about the steak, the waiter was quick to respond and promised a discount but actually took it off our check. What a great waiter! Responsive to the customer's needs. I chose this place because I've heard great things about Rachel Yang. I've worked in a few restaurants in my career and not sure if I would return here. Sorry :(

Came for restaurant week and the food was excellent my black cod and wontons were absolutely amazing! Service was solid, tables were a little close so it wasn’t totally intimate but still comfortable to talk. It was definitely pricey so expect to hurt a little from that but worth it now and again!
