Everything about the experience was sub par. Food cold. Service was lacking, even though I do feel training was occurring to a new server, but probably a better time to conduct that than on a busy Saturday dinner service.
Ordered the mixed grill but the steak came out cold as did the shrimp. Also ordered the scallops wrapped in bacon. The bed that the scallops were on was potentially the most bland thing I have ever eaten. Dry unflavored cardboard ish. Terrible. Couldn’t eat it.
After receiving the cold food, I weighed my options of telling the server knowing if I sent back I wouldn’t see it for another 10-15 minutes and by then would be checked out from the meal vs eating a cold steak and grilled shrimp. Option b was chosen as the waiter didn’t return for 10 minutes to check on the meal, at which point I knew if I sent it back then, that I would have to wait another 30 minutes for new food.
So I decided to make another reservation and mark it as a loss and move on from a bad restaurant that has much potential. I would not recommend but I do recommend training your wait staff better or kitchen staff to work as a team. I would rather receive my meal in two parts rather than having half of it (the more expensive part) arrive cold and lifeless. Also it is key to check on your customers. They shouldn’t have to look around and hope to locate one of your few waiters to have them resolve an issue.
What you save understaffing and under training, you lose in lost customers, lost tips, lost referrals from word of mouth, lost additional purchases due to good service, and lost opportunities for return business.
Was not busy and still saw our waitress twice and took longer than reasonable to get drinks and food order
Food was good but it took an hour and 45 mins to get it. Staff was friendly about communicating the wait. Our table was near the door and the coast at draft was disappointing and annoying
We had set reservations ahead and when we arrived we were seated instantly. The server was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered a burger, pork chop, and steak & frites. This is our second time coming to this location but, first at Revel. We will be back and definitely recommend it for a great spot for a get together
one appetizer was under cooked
steaks were great
Food was great, service was attentive in the price of both the food and wine were very reasonable. It was not very crowded for a Saturday evening before theater which worried us because we would like to return and not sure if that volume of people on a Saturday night would be enough to sustain a restaurant.
Waitress was good, but main courses took forever to come out. The tuna sandwich was served still frozen.. and a 2nd attempt came out without any grill/sear marks. Other courses were good, charcuterie, brussesls, salad, soup, steak, but the long wait for entrees put a damper on the experience. Waitress tried to be accommodating. On complaint manager was apologetic, but no comp offered for >45min wait for entree or frozen fish.
Service was very slow.
They were under staffed and our $38 steaks were way over cooked. Drinks and food took a long time.
Good breakfast spot right off market square. Waitress seemed rushed but didn't seem like she had much help. Otherwise, good food and service was ok
The Appetizers came 2 minutes before the entrées
One of the entrees was cold
Otherwise not a horrible meal
Nice dinner before the opera. I enjoyed the beef quesadilla. Good drinks too. Worth stopping in.
Indifferent if we would refer to someone else. This was the first time my husband & I were there. Josh was a good server, however I plead with the manager NOT to have your server meeting on the floor for everyone to hear & while we are waiting for service. It put a very bad reflection on the place. We as well as other tables were there waiting for service. Finally ordered and got drinks 20 minutes later. Everything else was good. Just a shame for our first visit. We were on a time limit for the Carrie Underwood concert. Had reservations at 5:00.
The menu is varies so there are good options for larger and smaller bites. Our server was excellent.
The food was ok with a few interesting choices. Overall it was noisy, tightly bunched with bar patrons unafraid of raiding the dining area and a bit pricey for the offerings. It was rather uncomfortable with tightly placed tables and not really conducive to dining. It’s like the dining room is an afterthought to the alcohol. There are better in town for the money.
10 people, sudden notice, they took great care of us!!
Even though we had a reservation, it was like they didn't know we were there. We were seated quickly and yet it took me staring down the bartender to even get glasses of water for our table. The bartender ended up being our server, but because she was busy bar-tending as well, couldn't pay much attention to us. The other servers did not seem interested in taking over either. The food was fine - but not terrific - and I've had better cocktails. The Hot Metal Martini was good but the Old Fashioned wasn't even drinkable. My husband did enjoy his salmon entree, however my salad was mediocre. I would go back if we were with another party that wanted to go there but there are plenty of better options downtown to choose from.
Great food. Waiter gave us our check while I was in the middle of my meal still.
The restaurant was very pretty, quiet, nice setting. The food was great however the service was BAD. Our waiter was knowledgeable but also the bartender. It was not busy and there were plenty of servers. He was not attentive, took a half hour to bring our drinks and someone else finally brought our food after an hour. I would still recommend this restaurant even though we had a bad experience with a waiter bc the food was good they do however do need to pick up the pace on the speed of service.
Food was good but not as hot as I would have preferred. Service was ok and restaurant appeared understaffed. Neither deficiencies prevented us from enjoying our meal or returning in the future.
We went for brunch, and the food was outstanding. We got the chocolate chip pancakes, which were incredible. The stuffed French toast was excellent, some of the best I’ve had. I would also recommend the mimosas, and for only $14 you can get all you can drink. The service was subpar, but I’m hoping this was a one-off thing. I’m looking forward to my next visit.
They shoved us in the back of the restaurant even when so many tables were available out front near the windows. But those tables for some reason were not set so we could not sit there.
The food was not very flavorful, did not all come out at the same time, and looked thrown together. The charcuterie board was the biggest waste of money, hardly anything on it and was the most expensive thing.
The waiter took forever to bring our drinks out. At least 5-10 wait after ordering drinks to get them, and the restaurant had maybe four tables seated.
Love this place. Great atmosphere. Good food at good prices
Awesome .... our server Jordan was super nice. Food was awesome and drinks tasty
The manager was the only bright spot of the night and he tried hard to make up for the shortcomings of the host, waitstaff, and kitchen. The food took forever and arrived with different temps - proteins were lukewarm with warmer veggies. Composition on the plate was sad. They have a lot of room for improvement.
First time at this restaurant. Met a friend for happy hour. Enjoyed specials on wine and mixed drinks. Unique menu with wide variety of sharable small and large plates. Especially enjoyed the fig and ricotta bruschetta and bacon wrapped scallops. Server was informative, knowledgeable about menu, and had good sense of humor. Looking forward to returning with more friends.
This was my first time visiting Revel. The food was delicious, especially the Fig Bruschetta with
honey ricotta, almond pesto, sherry reduction-- YUM! The cocktails were creative and sitting by the open window on a beautiful evening in downtown Pittsburgh can't be beat.
I am not one to complain, however the service was awful. My husband and I were very disappointed with our experience. The manager tried to smooth things over but was very arrogant about it. Pretty much ruined our brunch and I will not returning.
The food was unmatched. I ordered the bacon wrapped scallops and shishito peppers. The peppers were unlike anything I have previously ordered. I was so glad I did! The scallops were cooked perfectly. Very reasonably priced for the quality of food. The vibe of the restaurant is trendy and intimate.
Outstanding food and high quality service! The Brussel sprouts appetizer was sensational!
If you sit at Daniel’s station, you are in for a treat. Great service, great personality, great sense of humor, serving great food. I highly recommend Revel. Never a bad experience.
Bloody Mary’s were quite good. The food, however, left much to be desired. My brother had the continental breakfast which was a container of Chobani yogurt, hard, inedible melon, and a croissant from I’m guessing Sams Club. I had the shrimp and grits which was tasteless. My mother had the crab fritter Benedict which was adequate at best. My BIL had pancakes and declared them unremarkable. At the end of the day it was just that; an unremarkable brunch and I’d neither return nor recommend.
One of the best sandwiches ever...sweet and spicey chicken....terrific, especially during happy hour .
The service started out poorly, we had a party of 8 with a reservation and they tried to squeeze into a table for 6. The restaurant had a table for 8 ready, plus lots of alternative spots, we had to insist that they move us to a different table. It was noon and not crowded.
The food was passable, although my dish shrimp and grits was horribly overcooked shrimp that looked like it had been sitting around for hours and the grits were colder than room temperature.
The service was only fair, she didn't bring out the bread with the orders that had bread, etc.
Fantastic experience from the food to the service and atmosphere. We’ve already recommended Revel to our friends
Great service! We felt like we were the only ones there with how well our server treated us! Great surprise treat for my mom’s birthday!
Went for brunch to celebrate a friends birthday. It wasn’t busy at all maybe a couple people. Food was good and service. The only thing is that myself and a friend got the bottomless mimosas and it didn’t taste like there was any alcohol in it. There could be more champagne in the mimosas.
Love Revel. Would have given it 5 Star except Noise Level is extremely high & loud. Everything else though is great
Overall very good
the waiter, josh, was awesome!! super friendly and great recommendations for us because we aren’t from the area.
