Well.. was excited to go here but one of the worst service experiences I have had in a long time. Waited very long to order, food was good when it came. Waited 20 minutes to pay. Will be a long time before I try again... note, only 50% occupied and didn’t appear under staffed.
There was nothing that made the restaurant stand out. It was regular fare which you can get anywhere. The margherita pizza was below par - no sauce, just very dry and no flavor.
The artichoke bruschetta - which was made on a toasted bread was cold. The bread was probably sitting for along time after it was toasted.
The service was poor. The waiter just wouldn't bring extra flatware so we could share the dishes we ordered. When I asked for extra, he mentioned there was a wedding party in their upstairs restaurant and that's why they didn't have extra flatware. I had to pick up flatware from other empty tables.
We left!! They tried to seat us next to hostess station where everyone walks and when we asked to sit at one of the many other empty tables we were told that they could only seat us at the bar. Plus special Mother's day menu was not posted on website when we booked
Overall the brunch was nice but several people in my party ordered the chicken and waffles and the waffles were underdone and freezing cold. They were inedible. Thankfully the staff was nice and we sent them back and ordered something else.
Excellent service and excellent food! Would definitely return.
Everything was great except that they did not anticipate the large crowd well even though they knew it was coming (it was the big marathon that they have every year and it runs right by the restaurant). We ordered the Breakfast Burrito and they were all out. We ordered a Mimosa and they were all out of champagne. What we ended up getting was great and we enjoyed it, but it never should have come down to them being out of stuff like that so it was just mis-managed by not anticipating well. Overall, it was good but I had to make that observation.
Some of the food was very good, and it was reasonably priced -- a good place to grab a bite before a show or downtown event. I did not care for the ahi tuna appetizer because it didn't have enough flavor and the kale slaw dressing tasted like plain yogurt. But the blackened salmon sandwich was really delicious. It was good that they subbed a salad for fries, and the salad was good, but the balsamic vinaigrette dressing didn't taste like balsamic...more like maple syrup (actually, a lot like pancake syrup), so next time I would try a different dressing. I would come back.
We were in town graduating from Chatham University with our doctoral degree and wanted a special place to celebrate. Our server Courtney was amazing from the moment she introduced ourselves to the moment she said congratulations and goodbye. The food was very good quickly served and delicious. We would highly recommend raffle to anyone who would like a special experience.
Service was slow for 2 people just ordering a sandwiches and a drink. We chose Revel instead of Roost because we had tickets to a show downtown at 8:00 and thought it would be quick with the more basic menu. We had a 6:30 reservation and were seated immediately. The restaurant was busy but not full. It took 45 minutes before the food was served and a waiter from another table graciously took our check because he noticed we had been waiting. Had this been our first experience we wouldn’t go back. However, I’ve had good service before and I like the atmosphere, location, and food.
Good atmosphere but food was extremely salty and over seasoned. Was sadly disappointed. Wouldn’t recommend
Our servers were friendly and we were checked up on by the manager and a rooming bartender to make sure we were good. The food was amazing and tasty!
Great food served communal style. We had the cauliflower, Brussels, sliced ribeye, tuna and wife ordered the beet pasta from upstairs menu of roost. Every single dish was incredible. DJ was great with the service. Will go back for sure!
Amazing food!! Went for Sunday brunch before a Pens game. Got the all you can drink mimosas and it was basically straight OJ, not worth it.
I had the sweet and spicy chicken sandwich. It was delicious.
DJ took good care of us. The food came out hot, together and tasty. The menu is super interesting with vege apps and wheat berry salads. Nicely done!
Great food and value! Great service!
Thank you very much!
Food and service were amazing! The brunch special was great.
We enjoyed a quiet dinner. It was late and the restaurant was quiet enough that we can enjoy conversation. The salmon and steak and frites were great, but the baked cauliflower had too much salt. We did feel a bit rushed, with the server taking away plates and presenting the bill too quickly.
Took my adult son to lunch on his birthday. As on my prior visits Revel was a great atmosphere with and interesting menu including some unusual offerings. I don’t usually order pizza for lunch but the daily special with crab and bacon sounded intriguing. It was great, and I’ll go back there next time I’m in the mood for pizza in the Market Square area.
This was a great brunch experience. DJ was a great server and was very knowledgeable about the menu. The location is conveniently located near market square with on and off-street parking. The brunch menu had many selections and we were given complementary blueberry beignets. I had the steak and eggs. It was very good, but I would have liked my eggs to have been cooked better. My mother had the shrimp and girts. Four large shrimp and was cooked to perfection. The ambiance is lovely. It was a cold day and as soon as we walked it warm and we were greeted. The music was great! Wasn’t too loud and was an eclectic mix. We were seated against the wall in sturdy plastic chairs. This is a restaurant that I would go back to again for brunch and would try it for dinner also.
Impossible Burger was very good. However, salad was so overdrenched in dressing it was soggy and almost inedible. Server kept telling us "anything you need you just tell me" then kept disappearing for long stretches and when we asked for substitutions (we are vegetarians) he kept telling us no and would not ask the chef. Pictures they posted on internet looked great but the place is pretty much a run down bar.
Celebrated three family birthdays there. Food was really good, great service, and a fun atmosphere with the Pittsburgh video streaming on the wall. Wouldn’t recommend getting a glass of water with your meal - tastes like it came from the Mon River.
The waiter was unprofessional in many ways but nice enough.
The food was very good. I had salmon that was beautifully prepared.
Super value and decent atmosphere. I’d say - best value for a nice meal in the city.
Honestly great food. They have great lunch specials and appetizers, and the ambiance is perfect. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a modern take on some old favorites!
Stopped by for brunch. They weren’t very busy, but service was slow. I think short of staff. The food was very good and we had time to kill so that wasn’t a problem. But I would have been stressed were we on a schedule.
Staff poorly trained ... they should know about gluten free options ... chef seems like a Good guy.
Great food in a lively scene where we could watch NCAA tournament. Healthy tapas choices cooked to perfection.
Bartender was horrible and ran around like a chicken with her head cut-off. Acted like she was doing us a favor when she finally paid attention to us. I ordered a bottle of beer and when it was servedit was barely cold. I then had to wait at least 5 more minutes before she even glanced our way again to ask for a glass to pour the beer in. Glass was shoved across bar to me soaking wet and extremely hot from fresh washing. Waited another 3-4 minutes for a back bat person that gave me a cool one. Okay now my friend arrives orders a bottled beer and she too wanted a glass but the bartender dropped the beer and ran. Insulted when we had to "bother" her again for a glass. She informed us most people don't want a glass. I have been on both sides of the bar for over 40 years and informed her that most women over 40 prefer a glass. And in fact most beer lovers prefer a glass. Ummm maybe that is why beer enthusiasts go as far as having the right kind of glass, but any way she was a snippy little thing that has no business interacting with the public. I then asked to close my check as we were moving over to a table. Again it seemed like an imposition to her. And I need to add there was another bartender on and not very many people in the restaurant and the bar had a total of 6 patrons on the stools and we were three of them. I am writing this negative review because this is my third experience and all pretty bad. The food is mediocre and the service is terrible. I live downtown and even if something is amiss I try to give the benefit of a doubt but three strikes your out.
Had a really nice experience. Friendly prompt service with excellent food.
Delightful time at a wonderful place! DJ was a great waiter. Service prompt. Food excellent. Good choices. Will return again and again. Loved happy hour prices!
Went on a brunch date with a friend, service staff couldn’t be nicer, if a tad slow- however it was a busy Sunday so can’t fault them for that. Food was incredible, both the eggs Benedict and chicken and waffles were great, and the all you can drink mimosas are a great value!!
Revel is reliably excellent. It is my go to restaurant!
Revel was just okay. I guess I expected more because we were dining downtown (and we rarely do) before seeing a show at Heinz Hall. The acoustics were very poor. It was hard hearing my two friends sitting two feet away from me. The service was mediocre. It took a while to get a refill on water or additional ketchup. The food was really good though; however, I don't think a side of French fries should cost $4 no matter how good they are.
Overpriced and just adequate quality food . Atmosphere is nice and hostess was helpful . No other positives!
Had a great brunch as part of our weekend celebrations! Would definitely return.
Good food great service, place was a little loud. The only complaint I had was the table we were given was right next to another occupied table that was very close. Could have sat us at one of the other 10 plus open table's. Small issue to a otherwise good place.
Hidden gem!! Great atmosphere and service. Food is upscale bar food and that is a compliment!! Everything was tasty and hot to the table. Great location very close to theaters and activities!!
Food was all delicious. DJ was great as our waiter
My husband and I went to Revel for Date Night and absolutely loved it! The food was incredible and the drinks were amazing. So many different crafted drinks and prepared perfectly. We will definitely frequent Revel, such a nice spot downtown!
We came for brunch and didn’t get the brunch menu from the staff. The waitress was nice, but she was taking too long to wait on us.
Also, the water tasted weird for some reason?
