This is your classic, everyday neighborhood French bistro run by Chef Paul Magu-Lecugy & his wife, Laura. That kind of cozy little place you’d imagine in Saint Michel or Saint Germain. Not smack dab in the middle of the 'burbs. But lucky for you, that’s exactly where 5-star chef Paul Magu will be paying homage to the French comfort food that he fell in love with as a boy growing up in Paris. Réve was the perfect place to celebrate a special family birthday. The outdoor patio was gorgeous with lush greenery and featured live musicians playing soft background music. The service was warm and non-pretentious with items arriving in well-paced succession. Most importantly, food and wine were all wonderful to the point where I already wish I could repeat the entire meal. We shared Gougeres (French cheese puffs), Artichoke Spinach Dip with Olive bread, and French Onion Soup to start the meal, along with their amazing basket of complimentary French bread with butter. For an entree, I ordered their Sole Filet Meuniére, cooked to flaky perfection and served with sautéed Chanterelle mushrooms, creamy mashed potatoes, and a delicate crab-stuffed zucchini half. Réve isn't exactly cheap but worth every penny. I'm already thinking of excuses to return soon.

Bastille Day at Reve is always so much fun, great specials and live music in the garden. In my option the garden/patio is the best option. Homemade chicken pate wrapped in philo (I think) was an incredible started and very authentic. The steak was delicious especially with the pomme frites (Voted Best in the Bay). The duck special with cherries and polenta was also incredible. Ask your server for a good Margaux and you won’t be disappointed. Lovely outdoor dining and well appointed staff. We love this place!

We always enjoy Reve. My chilled corn soup starter was perfect. Sweatbread entree was slightly overdone but still quite good. Outdoors patio is delightful.

Reve is one of our favorite restaurants, and not just in the East Bay. Chef Paul does awesome dishes and the servers provide a wonderful table-side experience. They deserve a Michelin star!
