Wonderful food, wonderful people and service, plus you can purchase some of their delicacies to take home!
Once again outstanding food and service.
Reve is a tiny bistro in a strip mall in Lafayette. My husband and I had an enjoyable meal. We dined on a Tuesday so it was half-priced bottles of wine night. I had the branzino which was perfectly cooked. My husband had the vegetarian option which was a stuffed acorn squash that was as delicious as mine. The servers were knowledgeable and friendly. We were not rushed. We would go back again. This is a real gem in Lafayette!
Easier than flying to Paris for a great French meal.
Truly amazing meal from start to finish. Amazing food, friendly staff, great wine list and bar.
Consistent, charming, warm and welcoming...I always look forward to my next visit
We have eaten at Reve many times now and each time is a treat. True French cuisine! The Gougeres alone are worth the trip. Every hors d'oeuvre offers fascinating flavors--the oysters with their champagne mignonette, the charcuterie plate, the escargot. These are items that are prepared authentically and make me so happy that I don't have to fly all the way to France to taste.
I also cannot rave enough about the beef cheeks' tenderness and flavor--as well as their poached-in-wine pear tart. That is going to be a memory for all time. The buttery crust and the perfect balance of flavors were phenomenal!
Awesome French restaurant in Lafayette. Chef Paul does wonders and the staff is friendly and attentive.
Fantastic service, excellent and delicious meals, and if you go for Thursday dinner, no corkage fee, and right now, they are running a lottery for a free trip to Provence! Perfect for special occasion and celebration! We strongly recommend this little local gem!
We had a wonderful dinner as always. Reve is the perfect spot for a
quiet evening with great food and drink.
Wonderful food and service - we have dined here on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed.
I dined at reve on a saturday evening. Our server, chris, was excellent in recommendations he made to us; meal, wine, etc. however as we ate outside the noise level was almost unbearable if you have a hearing loss.
Reliably good, has never been disappointed. Rare these days.
This is a GREAT neighbourhood bistro. We love their escargot and ris de veau
Went for my birthday celebration on Wednesday for half-price bottled wine night and sat out on the patio. We started with a mushroom tart and the best French fries in the bay area as appetizers. Next was the onion soup and I had the scallops and my wife had the roast duck both of which were wonderful. Terrific deserts in the chocolate lava cake and a pear tart. Excellent ambience and wonderful service.
Intimate Bistro, French basics well prepared and presented. A local treasure. Busy on a weekday night.
As usual, Reve provided a wonderful dining experience. We like to take advantage of the 1/2 price wine days to try new (to us) wines. Lovely meal!
Great food, service needs education.
A nice bistro. I’ll definitely return .
We've been back several times and have never been disappointed! Food is really amazing.
Terrible salad, very mediocre main course. Food NOT as described by waiter or on menu. Long (45 min) wait between couses. with no explanation or apology. Dessert of two ice cream scoops consisted of about 2 tablespoons of ice cream. ( what? - did they run out?) Very sad to have such a bad experience as this used to be one of our favorites. Has really slipped. Won’t be back any time soon.
I found this restaurant on Yelp and from the photos we were expecting a much more trendy and lively atmosphere but didn't find that to be the case. It was a much older crowd and a couple sitting next to us actually turned and gave us a look while we were laughing amongst ourselves during dinner.
Additionally the space heaters weren't working properly and the patio was unbearably cold and after asking them to turn up the heat they still couldn't get it to work.
Hello - I'm sorry you were disappointed in the atmosphere. As for the patio, we do have a forced air heater to heat the enclosed area as well as small portable heaters. I checked in with our staff. The server on the patio said only one table complained about being cold, the heat was adjusted, and when she checked in the group said they were fine, and were the last table to leave. I apologize if you were one of this group & were still cold, it was our understanding that wasn't the case.
Wonderful place! Food is amazing and staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. I think it’s the best restaurant in lafayette by a mile!
A big thank you to the owners and all of the employees of Reve for opening during the power shutoff on Saturday October 26th. When we got the email that they had a generator and would be open for dinner we were facing a dark, cold night at home with no power and our refrigerator food slowly melting. We appreciate so much that everyone at Reve went out of their way and at great expense provided such a welcome evening for everyone who came. You are all the best!
Our favorite French Bistro. Food is always superb and we’ll be back. Great French wines, appetizers, soup, and entree’s. Don’t miss the desserts.
The menu is fairly small, which is a good thing, because everything is thoughtfully chosen and carefully prepared. This really is bistro food at its best: unpretentious, satisfying, well presented and not overly fussy.
One of the best meals we ever had. Everything is perfect; such integrity in ingredients and the amazing the meals created in this charming authentic place; you enter another word when you are there and the enjoyment is truly wonderful.
Maybe the best restaurant in the East Bay (Lamorinda, Danville, Walnut Creek area).
French food at its best. Great service. Highly recommend!
We dined at Reve on a weekday night, but it was reasonably full at 7pm. Service was slow and inattentive, and the food was average. We had the Gougeres to start, along with a cup of the Acorn Squash Soup - both very good. But when I asked our waiter to ask the patissier about the origins of Choux pastry, I was told that he couldn't ask that question as he would get yelled at. Hmm.
For our main course, I ordered the Duck (without being asked how I'd like it cooked), and it came out well done (overcooked to my taste). The accompanying baked figs and veggies were tasty though. My wife had the Bronzino which was very under-seasoned. The waiter never asked how our meals were (I'll chalk this one up to his apparent inexperience.)
Desserts were ok, but overall we felt very rushed; the check showed up before we finished our desserts. In total, we spent about an hour with our dinner.
I'd love for there to be a great French restaurant in East Bay, but this isn't it.
There for the vegan challenge and I vote for Reve!!!
I recommend this restaurant, it's darling and romantic!
Wonderful in every way including a visit from owner Laura. Love this restaurant.
Treated a friend to her 80th birthday dinner. She was delighted with the beef cheeks, the acorn soup and the dessert with a candle and a special remembrance. Wife enjoyed the duck and I loved the bronzino. Service by Arleen was excellent. Only small hitch was that our friend, driving in from out of town, had to park way down the side street as all parking spaces were taken up. But overall, in over half dozen visits, we've never been disappointed.
Lovely, beautifully executed menu items. There were 3 of us; we shared an appetizer and each of us had an entree. The mushroom tarte was exquisite; mussels generous and superb; duck med rare in fig/wine reduction—fabulous; seared scallops—divine. Got the picture? Amazing wines at half price. Friendly, efficient but relaxed service. I look forward to enjoying dishes which will reflect the next season. This was a wonderful treat. Bravo to this business!
What a great find! We went there for our anniversary and they greeted us at the table with a card. Everyone was so friendly and nice and the food was outstanding. Definitely will be back!
Excellent French food that is hard to find in the Bay Area.
Took my wife for her birthday dinner last week. The food was amazing and the service was great. Having lived in Switzerland, we have struggled to find bistro in the East Bay that feels authentic. We are thrilled to have finally found Reve! We felt right at home! We also got a voucher for desert for our next visit and we will definitely be visiting again!
I ordered the duck and it was tasteless. For the price of the dish, it could be a lot better. The service was fine. There is this one server who is not very friendly. She was not welcoming, we got changed seating therefore got another waiter, and he was better!
This was the third or fourth time we’ve enjoyed the outdoor patio. It was as wonderful a before. Our guests fromVirginia loved the place! Highly recommended.
Reve is by far one of the best French restaurants around. My wife and I have never had a bad meal here and they always change up their menu which is great so you can always try something new. This is our go to spot.
