RÊVE is not that snooty, splurge-on-your-anniversary kind of French restaurant. Au contraire.
This is your classic, everyday neighborhood French bistro. That kind of cozy little place you’d imagine in Saint Michel or Saint Germain. Not smack dab in the middle of the 'burbs. But lucky for you, that’s exactly where 5-star chef Paul Magu will be paying homage to the French comfort food that he fell in love with as a boy growing up in Paris. We’re talking authentic French onion soup. Steamed mussels. Steak frites. Cassoulets. And don’t forget creme brulee…
Come to dinner and you’ll feel like a guest in Paul and Laura Magu’s home. (Yes, kids are welcome. And no, you don’t have to dress up.) Stop by for an apéritif and a little pâté on your way home from work. Or an espresso and pear tarte after the movies.

We absolutely loved it. The place looks amazing especially the outdoor.
The food was delicious we will definitely come back and I highly recommend to check this place out for your next date night
It really did feel as if we had a night out in Paris. Just wonderful in every way!
We sat out on the patio and had a wonderful dinner. The staff was very attentive. The food and wine were fabulous! I love this place! Such a hidden gem.
One of my favorite French restaurants around.
Food was amazing! I'll be back again and again and again.
This was our first time at this restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent and there was great attention to detail. Even blankets and personal propane heaters at your table because it was a little windy as we ate outside. Wonderful place for a special occasion.
The service seemed clumsy at best, and distracted? Duck special was bland, the scallops had wonderful ingredients that didn't quite come together for this diner, the ribeye met high expectations. Desserts were perfect: Ile flotante; chocolate mousse; cherry claflouti. We'll come back.
Very enjoyable outside dining experience! Will definitely go again.
When all you can say, is A+, and "while it's only Friday, wanna come back tomorrow" mean absolute grand slam. French Onion Soup, escargot and duck special was fantastic! Ask to sit with Joel. Impeccable service and all around friendly nice guy.
Good experience; loved the ambiance of the restaurant. Dinner (duck) was delicious.
A little piece of France. Nice wine list. Oysters, gougeres, and mussels for appetizers.
Lamb shanks for entree was very tender and rich. Decent Chablis for $60.
The water trickling and the harpist was a nice touch. Will def come back.
Another delightful dining experience at Reve!
Always a pleasure as the food is divine, service wonderful, and the enchanting outdoor area so lovely.
Awesome food and environment!
Another great meal at Reve. So far, it's my favorite place in Lafayette. Great food, service and ambience. Five out of Five.
They’ve done a great job with the outdoor space using water features to keep it private and pretty simultaneously. The service was outstanding and the food excellent. We will absolutely be back.
Wonderful dinner in a beautiful atmosphere. Great dinner and service. We will return.
We had a delicious dinner at Reve in the their Courtyard. It felt like I was back in Paris eating in a charming bistro.
I had a tasty pepper steak & very crispy french fries. For dessert we shared an incrediblely delicious lemon meringue tart. Wonderful evening and great service.
Outstanding service and good value. Entree and dessert were excellent.
Lovely spot with husband and wife team in charge. Friendly staff, delicious food, easy access, great French wine list.
Lovely to sit outdoors. Provided a low profile heater to keep us warm. Excellent servers. Food was divine. We had the steak and frites, mussels and scallops - all done perfectly. Two of us ordered the beet and goat cheese salad which was beautifully presented and very good. The french onion soup also very good. For dessert, we sampled the lemon tart (my personal favorite), the chocolate mousse (my husband's #1) and the flourless chocolate cake. All really, really, wonderful!!
What a pleasurable and delicious dining experience! We had wine with the Salad Reve and onion soup gratinee to start. The salad was colorful and fresh and perfectly dressed. The soup was delicious and filling. Enteees were lamb shank and halibut. Halibut was under salted but it was served in a boulibasse broth that helped restore some flavor. Halibut was also cooked a bit on the done side. Lamb shank was perfectly cooked and served with al dente beans that were delicious. Small serving of the flourless chocolate cake but it was delicious and the side of orange marmalade was delicious. Great spot for a fine meal especially after being locked at hone for a year in COVID quarantine! Kudos to the chef and service manager for a great dining experience experience!
The service was spot on and the food was delicious! We sat outside in the beautiful garden. A perfect anniversary dinner!
Delicious. Their mashed potatoes were fantastic and the french onion soup is great! One of the owners walked us to our table. She was very nice. Our server also made a great recommendation for the veal sweetbreads. First time trying them and it was lovely.
Delicious! Can’t wait to go back!
For intimate outdoor dining, it doesn’t get any better than Reve “in the garden.” The Miyagi oysters from Tomales Bay were fresh and clean, and the beet salad with frontage was visually stunning and quite tasty. For entrees We had the seared scallops St. Jacques and a vegetarian farro dish with root vegetables. Both were excellent! We split a lemon tart with meringue for dessert. Hope to visit again soon!
Came to celebrate a wedding anniversary (despite the website saying that Rêve isn’t that kind of place). Chris, our service was wonderful. The food and drink were great.
Lovely way to celebrate a birthday during a busy time. Elaine, the maitre d, was so lovely and amenable to our request to moving up our reservation. We have a lovely dinner, and owner came by to say hello. The food was so good and the harpist's music set the mood perfectly. Overall, a lovely weekday date night to celebrate my love's bday.
Reve's out door seating in a garden adds the ambiance to already great food and wonderful attentive service. Highly recommend it.
We love Reve for special occasions and just regular, great dinners. Last night was an anniversary so it needed to be special. We started with escargot then each had a soup. My wife had the Soupe Froide de Petits Pois, pea and mint and I had Soupe a l'Oignon Gratinee. The pea and mint had a little bite to it that was unexpected and spectacular. The onion was classic French Onion Soup.
For les plats principaux, she had the Noix de St Jacques, scallops. Devine. I had the Jarret D'Agneau, lamb shank. Also excellent. We paired the food with a bottle of Chateau St. Julian Bordeaux Superior, a Merlot blend. It worked well with all of the dishes, especially with the lamb. Topped off the evening with their special of the night dessert, a lemon tart, and espresso.
As good as it gets without a plane ticket.
Our dog was at our side, as always, and they are always happy to have well behaved dogs at the outside tables.
Charming setting, authentically French with a delicious menu
Excellent service and great food. They have a nice wine list. We enjoyed the evening and look forward to returning.
Amazing lamb shank! No fat, enough for 2 people! Mussels huge this time of year.
Disappointed. Halibut was uninspired, overcooked and tasteless. Poor presentation. Panna cotta was runny and not very good. First time there, doubt I’ll return or recommend to friends. Waitress disingenuously bubbly.
Oh là là...fantastique! We took a friend to Rêve for her birthday, and it was also her first time dining there. The chef, as usual, was spot on. We had the gougères and olives to start. Hard to go wrong with those little bites. The beet salad was beautiful and tasty, but the main courses of moules frites (two of us ordered the mussels) and the scallops were outstanding. Best mussels we'd ever had. Plump, large, and in a classic marinière sauce of white wine, garlic, and cream.
Arlene, my favorite server, took such good care of us.
We were too full for dessert. Next time!
Very low key for French dining. Small but delicious menu.
Although not overly overpriced, this is more of a special occasion splurge place than just ordinary dinner. We ate on the patio, well separated, and well away from street noises. Even though being Thursday, it was quite busy. The serving folks had to really hurry to keep up but the service itself was excellent. The food was outstanding and out of the ordinary - I had the lamb shank and it was big enough to take some home for lunch. The main drawback is the parking, shared with other establishments, including another restaurant and a drycleaner still open by 6:15 - be prepared to look for street parking (not in abundance). We have eaten there several times and always look forward to coming back.
Great food in a very nice outdoor setting
Joel was one of the best waiters I've experienced. So personable and professional. A great experience!
The ambience on the patio at Reve is welcoming, relaxing and festive.
As always, everything was delicious! The halibut was tender and flaky. The scallops were divine. We enjoyed the panna cotta for dessert immensely. And our favorite server recommended an excellent french wine which was spot on. Always excellent!
