Retro Metro is 28 years in the making. After both Chef Tiny and Chef Hana crafted culinary greatness at The Metropolitan Grill in Springfield, they decided to go their own way. Southwest Springfield needed a great steak joint and they were just the power couple to bring it. Retro Metro is a “greatest hits album” of Metropolitan Grill — its legacy. But not only do they honor the greatest hits, they create innovative, new dishes, too. Combine Chef Tiny’s decades of restaurant experience with Chef Hana’s California Culinary Academy training and you’ve got the mashup of the century.

We were seated and met our waiter - followed by our wine and flash fried spinach appetizer - our favorite for over a decade. Grouper special with risotto and Halibut with pasta were outstanding! We then shared a gluten free brownie that was a perfect imposter of the real thing- the best gluten free dessert we have ever had. The good attitude of the staff was infectious and made our evening so pleasant and satisfying - WELL DONE 👏

Fantastic dinner Saturday night! Our table had filets, spiedini and the special, Char. It was all amazing! I'm not sure I've ever had Char before but loved it. I like it better than salmon. The live music was so fun! I wish our server would have spoken up a bit more. I had to ask him to repeat himself a lot. I loved the live music and lively atmosphere. Such a fun vibe!

Metro Retro is an amazing place to go for lunch and dinner. Menu isn’t overwhelming by choices in my eyes is great but, what is on the menu is simply amazing. The wait staff is also amazing they didn’t come to your table every 5 minutes asking you if everything was ok I don’t like when that happens at all. The ladies made sure our waters were always filled and were very polite.

Friday night prime rib is a good value and more importantly a good meal. Steaks are always tender and grilled to order. Great place for cocktails and celebrating a special occasion.

Such a funky fun place. Vibrant, local artwork and music from the 80’s and 90’s on the overhead. Service is great. Wait times between courses was proper. The menu is fun. Each dish has a name and is jazzed up with seasoning and toppings. Side dishes are the bomb and pasta is home made. Calamari was good. Get the bread and dip. Had chicken piccata and spedini. Awesome. Gnocchi and risotto for sides. Delish. Desserts sounded amazing, next time we’ll come for those and apps!!

My husband and I had a wonderful dining experience! We were celebrating our anniversary and it was very easy to make reservations. Our server informed us that it was only her third day on her own, but she did an outstanding job! The food was excellent; our compliments to Chef Tiny!!!

The food was unique, fresh, thoughtful and eye catching. The black and blue Caldwell steak was all that and more. Service overall was outstanding and personable. The music at times was a bit loud to hear conversations but tolerable. The menu caters to all diet types with a great wine delection...bottle or glass.

Very nice and casual! We had the Gary J Pie appetizer that was a very good balance of flavors. My wife ordered the Fish Tacos and loved them. I had the Dr. Nitta, which was general chicken lettuce wraps. Excellent! We will definitely be going back to have dinner soon!

Cute place, great food and nice prices. Our server, Selah, went above and beyond. Only one disappointment was we made a reservation for the Retro Room, confirmed it by phone and email but didn’t get it. Our table ended up being nice though.

Chef Tiny and Chef Hana are amazingly talented! We have eaten there several times and ordered a different dish each time. Every bite you take, you're literally muttering ... this is fantastic! I took my Mother-in-Law this time for a Mom's Day girls night out and Kari was our server ... WOW! Great service, great conversation, she just made our night out even more fun! Don't miss an opportunity to have a date night, girls night out or just a night out with friends at Retro Metro, you won't be disappointed!

New menu with many choices. Food was delicious and many of the dishes you can order a half order which was less money and the perfect amount Most of the time I can't eat it all and do take out. Problem is I often forget about them. The half order availability is great for me. Retro Metro has the best dinner rolls. I could make a meal on the rolls!!!
