About Restaurant Toque!
In 1993, Toqué! opened featuring local produce: a showcase for Quebec's terroir and its suppliers. The ongoing contributions of these artisans is no less important today. We have them to thank for foie gras de canard or salicornia; lamb of heirloom vegetables; seafood or fine herbs. These tireless farmers, foragers and fishermen inspire Toqué!'s cuisine, on which they bestow tastes, textures and natural aromas and unparalleled freshness.

Restaurant Toque! Ratings and Reviews
Toque is a joke. I was supremely disappointed. So much so that I honestly think the place is a social experiment to see if anyone has the nerve to tell the very nice servers, that the food is garbage. This place is expensive AF, and looks beautiful, but the food is not nearly as good as Blue Apron. Seriously, I got a striped bass appetizer that looks like a delicacy from the future (see picture) and tasted like a tuna sub. My entrè was a Pork Loin (additional fancy words...). No, it was a flavorless, dry, over cooked pork chop. If it was a social experiment, then, well done, y’all got me. My wife’s fresh cod entree was so salty it was as if they tried to pass preserved, dry cod as fresh. The wife and I just smiled and said everything was great because the waiter was very nice. The dessert was Pepperidge Farms, but stale. If it was supposed to be fine dining, then epic fail. Every other restaurant that we visited in Montreal was magnificent. This place was a let down. Don’t go there.
Food was just OK. The waiter was incredibly inappropriate - it was a business dinner and when I asked for no raw meet on the tasting menu, he said "congratulations." My colleagues and I were shocked at his behavior. I am not pregnant, but it forced the conversation with my boss who was sitting next to me. We all expected far more from a waiter at such an upscale restaurant. Very disappointed.
My daughter and I were in Montreal for the first time for an event, and we chose Toque for lunch while walking through downtown. Toque did not disappoint: great food, excellent service, wonderful ambiance, reasonable prices, and great wine selection. The dishes were so well seasoned, no additional spices were necessary (ie. salt or pepper). The presentation was spectacular. Complements to the chef!
The food was delicious and marvelously arranged, service was top-notch throughout, and the wine list was exceptional (we navigated through it with the help of the outstanding sommelier). The whole experience was wonderful from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The Toque! is a real gem of a restaurant.
It was our first time at Restaurant Toque, and the evening was enjoyed by everybody in the dining party. The tasting menu was exquisite and faultless. All the staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. I especially enjoyed the presentation of the tasting comparison of two oolong teas, it was something I've never experienced before.
A gastronomic treat. Truly every bite was special. I get the gushing about the food. The service was very attentive as you would expect. My beef was being told 530 was only spot available when about a third of the restaurant was empty by the time we were done. Ambience was a bit off for the price.
But again if you are looking for those magical meals this is it.
The seven course tasting menu with wine pairings was phenomenal! The scallops to start and apple dessert were the best we've ever had. We were visiting Montreal from the US and stumbled onto this gem. We are no strangers to fine dining and this meal was easily in the top 5 meals of the past 25 years.
From the moment we walked in the door, the service was attentive, but not intrusive. We were offered a champagne tasting - two glasses with quite different styles - by the sommelier. Delicious. We ordered scallops and foie gras for appetizers to share. Both were spectacular. The amuse bouche was a small breadstick wrapped in prosciutto standing in a small mortar with a delicious aioli of some sort. Our main courses were a melt-in-your mouth lamb shank and a succulent venison loin that reminded me of a wagyu beef tenderloin. The wine list is extensive - and expensive. This was a special occasion, so I was prepared to spend a lot of money and I did. It was worth it. This is a Michelin star quality restaurant.
Disappointed. This is the one word that sums thing up. Speaking with other people it appears that the quality level of the food is now low. We had the wine pairing menu and were told it would be items not found in the menu, yet most of the courses served were variations from the menu. The one plus is the service. The staff are top notch. The decor was okay but disappointed to be sitting in chairs with worn leather arm rest. Some would call it character, but it indicates cheap chairs.
Unfortunately, we were expecting more. We have heard that it was over rated but wanted to try it to see for ourselves. My husband is a great home chef and it is always hard to find up to our expectations but when it came to Toqué, we thought we would be nicely surprised. WRONG!! The chef with lots of comments on the TV show, needs to spice up his dish. Quality of the food was there but we did not understand and enjoy the fact that nothing had spices. It seams like the tendency at Toqué is to just enjoy the simplicity in the food with mixte ingredients that does not always go together.
We took the ''tasting menu'' at 139$ per person and we were more than disappointed. We end up leaving before the end. Could not stand it anymore. This is ''rire du monde''. I think they had never seen such a thing. The waiter kept on asking if everything was ok? We just said service was perfect!
That was our 2nd visit. The first visit was not a memorable one as well that is why we decided to go back but this time we know. We will never go back.
