Amazing little restaurant in an unexpected place. Definitely worth the drive from Charlottesville. Décor is very special and food is truly delicious!

We visit Gordonsville several times a year and always make a reservation at Restaurant Pomme. Family-owned and operated, it is a real gem and our favorite restaurant. Authentic French cuisine, warm staff, and a cozy atmosphere really make a enjoyable dining experience.

Let me say right up front that we love Pomme. We've been coming here at least once or twice each year over the past seven years that we've lived in Virginia. Our experiences and dinners have always been excellent--until this latest visit. There were a few things that were definitely off. In thinking about this since our dinner on Saturday, most of the issues were with the service rather than the food. Our server was pleasant, but had trouble remembering what we'd ordered, even after reciting it back to us at the table. She had to come back and ask again what wine we'd ordered shortly after taking the order. Then, she also returned to ask again what our main courses were. The house salads were very good. When it came time for our entrees, a different server came out with appeared to be our meals; however, after glancing briefly at us, she delivered them to another couple at a nearby table who had arrived and ordered shortly after we had. Eventually, our orders arrived, but my steak was done medium to medium well rather than the medium rare that I had ordered. The staff just mixed up the orders, which happens, but we'd never encountered this at Pomme. The quality of the food was good, but not outstanding, as it has been on previous visits. When it came time for dessert, which we seldom order, we decided on the creme brulee and a cappuchino for me and a decaf coffee for my wife. Our server left briefly and returned to tell us that there was no decaf and no cappuchino--we passed on the dessert. The owner's wife was kind and asked me how our dinner was. I said that it just wasn't up to Pomme's usual standard and briefly explained why. I said that it must have been an off night that even the best places experience occasionally. She was gracious and thanked me for letting her know. I said we would be back. One other note, Pomme recently remodeled and it seems to have lost some of its French atmosphere. It now feels a bit more like an American bistro than a French one.

Good selection of wine. Good whiskey sours. Started with the We ordered the chicken and the steak. The chicken was very dry and had lacking of the rich flavor one expects from French food. Potatoes agratin were also lacking. The steak was ordered medium rare but arrived medium well. we did not see our waitress to ask for a replacement steak. When we finished eating the waitress came by and my wife ordered another glass of wine and a desert. The desert came but no wine. My wife had been looking forward to eating here since we moved to the area, she is very disappointed so am i.

Excellent food and preparation. And excellent friendly and attentive service. A bit pricey but portions are the right size. Not a place to take below teenager .. quiet and pleasant French atmosphere.

Delightful with a twist. We selected restaurant for the food and atmosphere. A friend is a vegetarian so I wanted to be sure the chef would make a meal for him. It was well planned, everyone was extremely helpful and it seemed his meal was the only one we focused on all evening. My filet was very good, my husband’s pork chop was delicious and so large he couldn’t eat it all so we asked to take it with us and our friends wife thoroughly enjoyed her monk fish. Great seasonings and sauces as your would expect at a fine French restaurant . And then there was the vegetarian meal. First the chef inadvertently put a cream sauce right before serving it so he had to begin again. The staff could not have done more to try to correct the problem. Unfortunately our friend couldn’t get beyond the mishap so apologies came from servers all during the dinner. This ruined it for me and I look forward to returning for a nice dinner experience in the near future.

We had amazing friendly service and the food was quite good except the dessert. The wine list is extensive with an excellent range of prices. There's definitely something for everyone.
I selected the creme brulee for dessert and I do not recommend it. The creme was a cold, congealed mass that was just unpleasant.

It was a miserable rainy winter day when we stopped by for lunch. We were cheered by very very good food, service and surroundings. It’s the third time we’ve had lunch there. It’s an hours drive from our house and well worth the trip. Hope to return many more times.

Used to regularly dine at Pomme. First several dinners there, years ago, were great. Now the food is very average, but the prices are the same as fine French dining. I know the former chef passed, but the food and prices must match. Right now they do not. Food is very overpriced. If they want to survive they must drastically reduce prices. We will not go back anytime soon. Really wish the staff at Pomme well and hope they can adjust and survive.

Generally good. Certainly not a big city feel nor acted as such. A bit on the expensive side for a rural restaurant but it attempts to live up to French standards and didn't quite make it imo. No cheese plate. A little more catering service would have been nice.

Our meal was excellent but there was a problem with one meal which wasn’t served for at least 10 minutes after the others. Our waitress should have informed us, but did not until we flagged her and asked. Once all were served, everything was delicious.

Excellent French cuisine! The atmosphere made it even more special. Our table ordered duck, pork, sole, and beef- we shared some of it around the table and it was outstanding.

Our service was AWFUL. We will not return to the restaurant. Our party of four paid $250.00 - in my opinion we should not have had to chase the waiter for drinks, bread, sugar, etc. when we asked for sugar for our coffee the waiter brings a tiny glass cup that offered only Splenda. And the waiter - as always - disappeared. When I had to send back my creme brûlée i was so angry. I brought two guests as we both were celebrating our wedding anniversaries. It was a terrible experience. I wanted to discuss this with an owner or the chef but my husband felt it was just better to leave and not return.
