Restaurant Orsay Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I were there for our anniversary, it is one of her favorite places in town. We were greeted with champagne. She loves the mussels, really top notch, we also had roasted oysters, she had a flounder preparation with stone ground grits and I had the short rib with roasted cauliflower and duxelle bread pudding. Chocolate Bouchon and wonut for dessert. Service and food were excellent.
I guess Orsay is pretty much my favorite restaurant in Jacksonville. I have another that occasionally is a favorite but it is so inconsistent. Orsay is consistent both in quality of the food and excellence of the service. We require a gluten free menu and many restaurants insist that you ask the server if something can be made gluten free. Having a menu helps a lot. Service is great; attentive, helpful, unobtrusive. Desert was a delicious finale to the meal.
I took my wife here for our wedding anniversary. The food was amazing. Seating was a bit uncomfortable and close together. Service was great for the most part. Our server was kind, friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, when our server got several large tables back to back, we were not checked on very often and our entrees took a long time to come out. We didnt mind the wait, as we had ordered several apps first that held us over. The manager came out with our entrees and apologized. They gave us a free dessert to make up for it. I will be back and will be recommending this place to friends and family.
If you want a special meal with attentive but not overbearing service, Orsay is a place to go. Consider a cheese plate for desert and ask for recomendations, they are spot on. Sauce with Short Ribs is wonderful as are appetizers. Reasonable corkage fee if you have a special wine you want o enjoy! Have fun!!
My husband and I went for our anniversary. The service was outstanding, and they brought us complimentary glasses of champagne! The drinks were great, also. I am vegan, so I very much appreciated the full vegetarian/vegan menu with plenty of vegan selections. I had the seared “scallops” of tofu and mushroom tarte flambée (yes, two appetizers, don't judge me), and the vegan version of the shepherd's pie for an entrée - I had enough leftovers for another meal. My husband had the French onion soup and lobster. Everything was DELICIOUS, and we didn't have room for dessert. We will definitely go again.
We were in Jacksonville for the Georgia/Florida game and went to Orsay on Friday evening for dinner. The restaurant is very much "out of the way," which was not really what we were looking for, as we wanted to be able to walk around and "people watch," outside of the college-kid, downtown scene. There weren't many businesses around there. The restaurant, however, is very nice. We liked walking into the main dining room. It was buzzing with activity. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived for our 8 pm reservation, but that was expected on a busy weekend such as that one. We sat at the bar and did have some trouble getting a drink, again, to be expected. When were were seated, not too long past our reservation time, we were seated in the back dining room out of the action, which was disappointing. I made up my mind at that point that I wouldn't have a good time, but I was wrong. Our waiter, Griffin, was great! The food was excellent. We had eaten a heavy-ish lunch on the road on the way to Jacksonville and weren't all that hungry for dinner, so we opted for an all seafood dinner. The scallop crudo with black truffle was rich. It could have used more basil ribbons and a slight touch of acidity to cut the richness of the truffle, but it was delicious. We also had the marinated calamari, which was fantastic! Again, though, it could have used a little more of the micro-tomato slices to jazz it up just a tad. I had the scallops, which were perfectly seared and my dinner companion had the bouillabaisse. The flavor was spot on, but it could have been a bit more brothy for our taste. The creme brulee was perfect and we are creme brulee snobs. The things I have picked on are tiny nits. We had a lovely dinner and a very enjoyable experience all around at Orsay. Highly recommended!
Food is always delicious. For the money, i would not recommend the seared scallops; 3 for $15. However food and drinks are always amazing. I was there Wednesday and are going tonight for my anniversary. Steak tartare is great, so not get the small happy hour portion, too much Dijon. Must eat the escargot.
Very impressed by the service, and food!! Simply amazing!! Kristen was our server, she was friendly, energetic, and very accommodating! We had never been to Orsay, so we didn’t know much about it! She gave us great recommendations and even brought us champagne for our anniversary! My husband got the pork chop, and I got the roasted fish. We ate every bite, we even got desert! The pineapple bread pudding was simple Devine!! Best I have ever had!! Price was very reasonable for what you get!! I can’t wait to go back to Orsay!!
We had a little mishap with our reservation, we had a confirmation email, but when we showed up they didn't have our reservation. However, on a very busy night, they apologized, moved some things around and seated us within 15 minutes of our reservation. Even provided us with 2 complementary drinks while we waited. The food and overall dining experience at Orsey has always exceeded our expectations and even through this small mishap, we will definitely be back!
Everything about our experience was exceptional, except the entrees. My wife had the cheddar bacon omelette and I had the eggs a la Orsay. My wife's food was room temperature. The English muffins on my plate were solid and difficult to cut with a steak knife. The truffled hollandaise was paste-like. Unfortunate that the most disappointing aspect of the meal was also the most expensive.
Our appetizers and dessert were incredible. Should we return it would be for drinks and small plates.
Consistently delicious food, served nice and hot by extremely friendly staff. Can get a little noisy, which we older folks don't like, making conversation difficult. The room on Park St. is where we ate, and music was loud. That meant talking above the music.
Very nice to include a free dessert for the birthday guest.
Love the Sunday brunch, which is more economical. For dinners, we will use it for special events due to our budget.
I am from LA, where I love finding new and exciting places to eat...but every time I come to Jacksonville, I try to eat at Orsay as much as possible! They have the best happy hour, the food is always delicious, the service is amazing...I could go on and on. The bartender made my pregnant friend a delicious mocktail, and recommended great options during the happy hour. Orsay is the best restaurant in Jacksonville, and everyone should visit!
We went for our daughter’s birthday brunch. As usual, we had superb service, excellent food and a wonderful time. We started out with a plate of baked items and champagne. The scones and muffins were delicious. The brunch entrees were varied going from mussels to omelets and coque madame. They brought out a dessert for our daughter which we shared. Everything was wonderful. Give it a try.
