Restaurant Orsay Ratings and Reviews
They sat us in the back area, away from the bar which was really nice. Our server, Tony, was fabulous- allowed us to take our time, took us through the menu since it was our first time there, and was attentive without being overbearing. Food was as exceptional as you’d hope it would be. I had scallops, my partner had the steak frites, and we shared a cheese and charcuterie board. Cocktails were also delicious!
As always, Orsay was fabulous. This was our first Saturday brunch, and the restaurant was full of birthday parties, baby showers, and bluehairs like us. Alexandra was our server, and she did everything right - she didn't hover, she was just solicitous enough, and she knew her food. Moules frites as good as Brussels, Benedict as good as Paris, coffee as good as Dunkin' Donuts. No squawks at all!
The dining room was literally cold making it uncomfortable. While the food was good, service was subpar. Soups were delivered with entrees, refills on water were splashed across the table because the waiter was trying to reach across to pour, getting dishes cleared and trying to get the check took way to long.
Had heard about Orsay for a few years since we moved to the beach. We went for a milestone birthday. The food was excellent! Some of the online photos show casual day tables and white table cloth nights. Not so on the night we went. It was a very casual, very bright atmosphere. Our reservation was 7. At 7:30 a large table with a very unhappy toddler was seated next to us. Definetly not the special, romantic atmosphere we were hoping for - especially for the $ we were dropping. It was more a disappointed expectation on our part. Atmosphere aside it was an excellent meal - the best I've had in the Jacksonville area.
Our second time here in 2 years only, so hard to review. The first time, very very good. Our 16th wedding anniversary, not 1 complaint what so ever. Our last time this year Jan 2018 (17th wedding anniv.) My meal was fine (I don't eat seafood, and as it should be, fillet mignon is hard to screw up) but not as amazing as it was the year prior. My wifes, was a bit of a disaster unfortunately. She had the sea scallops. I don't like to make waves, nor does she, and it was our anniversary, so I didn't bring it up to the waiter (who was amazing). Her scallops tasted and smelled a bit like butane or something like butane. I don't know if they pan seared them or used a small torch to "brown" them at the end or something, but they had a semi-chemically taste to them. She ate them (8 months pregnant) and didn't complain. That night, late she started not feeling well (yes, that kind) and then slept until noon or so, and was fine. I felt so bad, as it was my idea since we had such a nice time the previous year. Eh, maybe if I went more often it would pan out better than not, as it is a highly recommended place. That was just the experience this time. Hope you all have a better one. I would go again though perhaps, maybe just an off night.
AMAZING experience! Our waiter was very awesome and attentive!! Greeted us with champagne for a wait for our table to be prepared which was so nice. Loved his suggestions for the menu and my selection. The filet mignon and the duck are awesome choices to go with! Loved their menu! Perfect place for date night. New favorite restaurant in Jacksonville.
My wife and I began eating at Orsay about 4 years ago and have always enjoyed it for the cocktails, food, service and atmosphere. It was one of the few places that people still "dressed up" (which we prefer). Over the past year we have visited a few times and have left a little disappointed. On New Year's Eve, I was surprised to see as many people dressed casually - to our dismay. We are now searching for a new place to celebrate special occasions.
Stopped in Jacksonville on our way from NY to south western Florida . A friend had recommend the restaurant. We were very surprised at how wonderful the, restaurant was. The food was perfectly prepared. My wife had the duck brest, I had the chicken. Reminded me of being in mid France, hearty, perfectly flavored food. When in Jacksonville that's where we will go.
All five at my table raved about their meal. The menu has so many choices and we were not disappointed in anything that was chosen. One of the friends with us is a vegetarian and there was even a separate and lengthy menu to select from. Very impressed and would absolutely recommend.
One caveat: This is definitely a French bistro and has that ambiance. If you expect fine dining in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, this would not be for you. Food might be great, but you can plan to be shouting at the person next to you or across from you. Such a disappointment in that respect.
Our family has visited Orsay in three other occasions and each time we are amazed at the authentic, delicious, and creative meals. Sautéed calamari, shorty ribs, beef stroganoff , and pan seared flounder were all fantastic. Great wine selections and the make a delicious old fashion. Our waiter was great and catered to all the diners at the table. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend.
Just no place like this in Jacksonville. Enjoy the expanded menu but magnifies the difficulty of choosing from so many great options. We spend a significant ant amount of time in France each year and frankly for the food but Orsay brings some great quality French tastes home .
The food and amazing service at Orsay never disappoints. The seasonal sweet potato cocktail was superb. The steak frites, a favorite, was delicious as always. My husband says they have the best frites in town. Service was impeccable as always. Our favorite spot in Jacksonville.
This restaurant was very over priced, the food was very salty. The restaurant in general was very loud. When we arrived there was a big truck infront blocking the entrance so you couldnt even tell where to get in. The service was ok. The waiter spilled water on one of my group members. I would not recommend this place to anyone tryomg to celebrate anything special.
