Stick with the chef’s specialties, although the pork belly wasn’t a hit. The French onion soup is fantastic, as was the beef. The desserts are excellent, as well.

This restaurant is fantastic. The food was wonderful (we started with a Charcuterie Plate, then chose Chef’s Seafood Surprise and Seared Scallops, and finished with the Tiramisu Trio). Everything was a true feast for all the senses: artfully presented, amazing flavors, totally satisfying. The specialty cocktails and unusual wine lists were fascinating, and the staff were truly helpful. Thank you Chef O’Neill and crew. We will be back, and we highly recommend Restaurant O to anyone who wants a special, world-class experience (amazingly) in Coos Bay!

We enjoyed our first visit much more than this second time. This time we had a waitress who very much seemed to look down on us. It started with the waitress asking before we were sat, "You two must be celebrating something?" We were not dressed up at all. Dressed very plain, apparently too plain. If we're not dressed up at all, why would you assume that? In my experience as a waitress, which I did for several years, you ask that when they all looked dressed to the nines. But that wasn't the only thing. That put my radar up but I brushed it off. Now, my mom used to work in a bakery before she got carpal tunnel. She watches cooking shows and dreams of being in the kitchen all day again. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor's in Environmental Sciences with a minor in Political Science at OSU. I explain this all to indicate we are not clueless in kitchen vocabulary (or basic physics). Every time, for the rest of the dinner, as she spoke to us and suggested things or served dishes, she spoke with a very condescending tone and would painstakingly pause after every "amuse bouche" or "emulsion" to explain the concepts to us as if we were children. Despite us several times saying, "We know, dear." Maybe I could still have brushed this off as her being over eager or new or just excited about her work and proud of what she knows...if she was the same the way with the rest of her tables. She was not. She spoke to them all completely normal. It was a very obvious difference. Mom and I are Hispanic, so we are very used to this but it still stings every time. I contemplated leaving her a smaller tip for this but then I thought, that would probably just reinforce whatever stereotype she is judging us by, so I still left her the full 20%. And hey, I don't recall her name, she's just another blonde white girl with her nose up in the air, so I guess we're even. Mom and I will continue to go and try new things, but we'll be making sure she doesn't serve us again.

Everything about this restaurant is exceptional. The menu and the dining experience at Restaurant O is extraordinary and something you will not soon forget. This restaurant compares to those found only in a large city - fortunately we are lucky enough to be able to enjoy the great food and wine in our small town.

Other than a large party at a nearby table our experience was a delight. The risotto was some of the best I have had, my husband loved his lobster thermador and our guest was very happy with her lasagna. As always, the service was wonderful and gracious. We have dined here many times and have nary a complaint. It is a delight to have an establishment of this caliber in our tiny community.

The food was an experience and the staff was very nice. They were a little slow on service, but it was Valentine’s Day. I purchased the flowers and truffles for my wife, but was shocked to see that the flowers were lifeless and some of the truffles were LEGO shaped. Disappointing. I believe the roses were kept at too cold of a temperature and it sucked the life from them. This is the second time that I’ve been to this restaurant and I’ve enjoyed the food both times. It is great to try the different flavors and see the creativity that the chef and staff create. Thank you for the experience.

This is not the first time we have ate there, my wife and I had the nine course tasting meal this time ,which was chief's choice. The chief did an amazing job and provided a meal that was outstanding. The service was great, all our needs were met. If you want an outstanding dinner for any occasion and don't mind getting what you pay for this is the place to go.

This is not the first time I have enjoyed this restaurant, nor will it be the last. The Chef is amazing with his one of a kind tasty creations. The service was as equally amazing. recommend this one of a kind experience to all that live or visit the Coos Bay Oregon Coast area. If you would like to watch the chef create his food then sit by the open kitchen, if you would like it quiet and a great view then sit upstairs window side and have a great view of the bay.
All you foodies out there that love your food to taste great and look great, don't miss this place!

Restaurant O is not having dinner out. Restaurant O is a dining experience. The food is so beautifully presented. The service is awesome. Prices are quite reasonable. The tastes of the food are exquisite. Hint- that French Onion soup was some of the best I have ever had. Even the dinner salad was so pretty I wasn't sure if I wanted to eat it or just take a picture of it. The chateubriand was lightly smoked, very tender and just wonderful. A lady next to us ordered the Halibut. It too looked really good. We ordered dessert. Again it was so beautiful. And the flavor? Wow!
If you live in Coos Bay, Or. or if you ever get a chance to come here you have got to try Restaurant O. This is a five star restaurant in a small city. We are so lucky to have it here.

This is a superb addition to the coastal dining scene. The very genial and extensively trained chef and his wife have created a menu for all tastes at extremely reasonable prices. Locally sourced where possible (particularly oysters and fish), the presentation is exquisite and reflects the chef's training in world-renowned restaurants.
The wine list is good, with lots of Oregon and West Coast bottles, and markups are moderate. The restaurant is well laid out, with a nice ambiance that lends itself to both casual and special occasion meals. The wait staff are knowledgeable and pleasant. It is located right across from the Egyptian theatre in downtown, so it's extremely convenient.
We hope that locals and coastal visitors alike patronize this gem. The Oregon coast needs restaurants such as "O".

Restaurant O is a wonderful asset to Coos Bay. Chef O puts his special style on all offerings, so everyone gets to try something beautifully prepared and presented, whether they chose the tasting menu or order off the regular menu. Coos Bay can be proud that they have attracted such talent. We are sure that Restaurant O will draw discerning diners from across the region and beyond. The restaurant buys locally and features excellent examples of Pacific Northwest cuisine. We return home feeling well and usually have learned or seen something new and inspiring.

We were happily surprised experiencing a wonderful meal in Coos Bay. We shared 4 different plates plus dessert. The crab salad and avocado moose and lemon aioli was fabulous on the complimentary and never ending focaccia bread. Without asking, the chef happily accommodated us by splitting our Caesar salad into two bowls and adding an additional poached egg on the second half. Knowing we were also sharing fettuccine Alfredo, it too was split into two bowls and both topped with 3 deliciously cooked shrimp; yum, just the right amount of garlic. Cocktails were great. Service was excellent and shared thoughts on what to try. Complimentary chef dishes and the final complimentary shot of pineapple vodka made this a spot we are planning on revisiting on our January trip.

Our recent, and first, dining experience was for my Birthday dinner. It was superb! I easily made our resevation on line, we were greeted by name, and the change in our party number was handled seemlessly. The menu was uncomplicated and elegant. The questions we did have were answered with great enthusiasm and pride from our Hostess. She was polite and prompt.
The meal was superb!
We each selected different items and eagerly and happily shared tastes. The presentstion of each course was beautiful.
Gold leaf on my Risotto Entree...WOW! I had read some reviews critiquing the portions but we all left perfectly satisfied and even had a "take home" box.
It was a great way to celebrate a birthday but we look forward to coming for Tuesday night dinner, Tapas @ Happy Hour, and just a great meal.
Thank you Chef et al!

Best fine dining restaurant we've found on the southern Oregon Coast. We've traveled up and down the coast and tried most of the fine dining establishments (there are not that many), and found Restaurant O to be our favorite. Their food is delicious, beautifully presented, and the service is excellent. We also love the decor, and found the price to be reasonable given the quality of the food, service and ambience.

The restaurant has only been open since December 2017 and still undiscovered judging by the ease of getting a reservation.

Restaurant O and staff provide an excellent fine dining experience. We chose and shared shared our way through seven menu items, continuity provided by an attentive wait staff and a robust Italian red. Artistic attention is paid to the look of each dish, aromas are true to the ingredients, portions are moderate, designed for a refined and wandering, mature taste journey. This is not quantity for the iron man runner, but reward for the experienced diner. it is a solid addition to coastal dining, a notch up from current offerings, more like a special night once provided by Christophe and Paula, very French, suffuciently Italian, a little bit of warmth from Trinidad, Irish like Beckett, waiting exotically for the next moment with the past still blooming with unfinished memories.

Restaurant O .... a bright, welcome addition to the Southern Oregon Coast....

Our party of four celebrates and dines together throughout the year and so over time we have enjoyed tasty cousine from many of the local favorites.

Restaurant O is a cut above! Upscale; yet, in a down to earth way. The updated decor creates an atmosphere that is both relaxing and provides the perfect back-drop for their offerings.

Our experience was exceptional from the first sip of our custom cocktails & microbrew IPA’s through the last bite of our yummy, exotic desserts! The appetizers and entrees were more than pleasing to the eye, innovative, and sooo delicious!

The service was spot on .... just the right amount of attentiveness & at the appropriate times. Chief O’Neill was also able to stop by and say hi and check on us as well.

A perfect evening .....
