Excellent brunch!
I've heard great things about this restaurant so was excited to try. My appetizers were good, pasta was okay, but I have to say the entrees were disappointing. The rib eye was $38 and one of the worst I've ever had. I had a few bites and stopped eating it.
We decided to try after getting good reviews from family and friends that have dined at north.
We received excellent service. All courses were served at same time to all the guests at the table.
Food was very good. Great atmosphere.
Would definitely go back.
We were excited to try North. The first level is lovely, though the bar area got noisy as the evening went on.
We were disappointed in the food however. The side dishes were pretty good (the roasted brussel sprouts were yummy) but the mains were not great. For the price of the food, we expected more.
The service was nice and sufficiently attentive, but we will likely not return.
This used to be a really top notch restaurant. It was my go to place for years but I had not been there for about a year. Went back recently. Disappointed in the gnocchi. Like belly bombs. Service was excellent. And my husband like his dish. The squid lentil appetizer was very good.
But I could make better gnocchi.
So delicious! Went here for Restaurant week and we were not disappointed! The food was so delicious! The dishes had very creative and inventive flavors and lovely presentation. The decor is simple and inviting and the staff was super friendly! I can't wait to go again.
Outstanding experience. Quality of service was exceptional.
My waitresses shirt was a bit too low and too tight. The food was good, although I did find a hair in it... I ended up asking for another drink and having to look for our waitress when we needed her. I thought it was a little too expensive for what it was.
Manhattan-level cuisine in the heart of Westchester!
The service was just fair. The dinner entrees we had were not anything special.
The pasta we had for a starter was barely warm. It was also a bit to dark.
We were disappointed, we had been to North many times.
We arrived at 11:30am for Saturday brunch.
We were the only table.
The waitress was extremely nice and helpful.
We ordered and then waited 40min for any food to show.
We had pumpkin pancakes, which were not particularly pumpkin-y and somewhat greasy.
We also had the North Breakfast which had a winter hash (very nice), braised cannelloni beans (ok), two sunny side up eggs, and mushrooms (ok).
Overall, I have no clue why it took 40min to get food. If the kitchen isn't actually ready to cook/serve food until about 12pm, why open at 11:30am? Just open when the stove tops are up to temperature. Or, offer complimentary noshes for the long wait.
Always our favorite. The new chef is excellent!! The service is perfect as well. Responsibly sourced, absolutely delicious food.
The food , as usual, was very good. The service was great. Very attentive wait staff. It was very noisy but the loud music put it over the top and could not hear the person next to me. Someone in our party has hearing problems and had to leave even when asked 3 times to lower the music.
We were so disappointed. We have been there many times before and loved it, but there is a new chef now and everything has changed. We were there for Valentine’s Day and the food was subpar and extremely expensive. $35 corkage fee and the incredible breakfast muffins they used to send you home with are no more.
Sorry to say we won’t be going back anytime soon and, unfortunately, we used to recommend it to everyone but can no longer do so.
Slow service which was actually fine because wanted leisurely dinner. Appetizers and entrees very good although entree portions were small. Dessert underwhelming. Overall expected better while actual experience was meh
We were disappointed. It was a very limited menu. The last time we were here it was very good lots to choose from. I don’t think we’ll be back, not when there are so many choices.
Overall I believe it was a fair experience, though not compelling enough for a return.
Yet another good food experience at North. We always do upstairs as it is much quieter than the zaniness downstairs. Service was fair and bill came with 3 bottles on invoice when we only had two, but they promptly fixed it. Menus of both food and wine have been scaled back but like eclectic wine options though prices are on the high side at 3x. We are likely to keep coming back as the food is awesome....
This is a farm to table that we have been to three times, and all three times have left something to be desired. The pork belly was inedible, the steak was average, and when they put you upstairs for an early dinner, it lacks the character to make it something memorable. We have, in season, had good veggies, which I would rate as an 8 out of 10. Service was okay, but the restaurant fails to hit the mark.
Excellent, creatively prepared food. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Would definitely go back again.
Been coming to North on and off for many years. I need to travel about 25 minutes to get there.
Reason being that I have always held it in high regard. In the past I have dined on the ground floor...very lively and good atmosphere.
This time was very different...dined on the top floor..quieter (as a result..an older clientele..OK) but not well lit..
Food, which is usually very good, was inconsistent...the kale raw veggie salad was very good...the soup was just tepid when it should have been warm. I'm a sophisticated diner but there is no reason to serve monkfish rare..and if the chef insists, at least have the wait staff warn when you order. They took it back but then brought it took 15 minutes to get it back (my guests had finished their main course) No one said a thing to me in way of explanation. As it was I didn't finish it..was most unimpressive ..fairly tasteless.
We ordered two bottles of wine (one red.one white)...both OK but over-priced by 20%. They have an annoying habit of taking away the white to the other side of the floor... and then forgetting about you..so each time you want a fill-up you have to find someone and request that someone bring it back. Not only is this annoying but it's really counter to their best interests...after all, if you leave the bottle in an ice bucket next to the table, the clients will consume it faster!.. and you will increase sales.
All the staff was very nice but clearly stretched beyond capacity.
Think if I come back, I will avoid weekends...clearly a better experience during the week.
We've just returned to this restaurant and the new menu is great--fewer choices make it easier. For entrees on two recent visits we had the fresh fish, fried chicken, the kielbasa sausage entree, and my husband had a pasta entree. Advice would be that the pastas are not their strong suit. We went with friends on one of the two visits and two of our party ordered pasta and didn't care for their meal. But, the chicken is outstanding, and the sausage entree was outstanding. So, I'd say the meats, poultry and fish entrees are best. The fried chicken is a "must try".
Restaurant North was by far one of my favorite places to dine when in town. I work at IBM walking distance to the restaurant. It WAS the place have a celebratory meal. I’m not sure what happed but everything, is different... menu, food, people and vibe.
It’s was horrible... the meal, service was horrendous and extremely expensive for low quality food.
Amazing as usual. We are almost regulars at North and are always amazed by how their chef experiments with food and flavors. Great service comes without saying.
Probably the best meal that I have had in this area in a while. The menu was interesting and very seasonal, the food was delicious, and the service was very good. I will definitively be returning.
Don’t care for upstairs seating. Food was warm not hot. Duck was mushy not crispy
We had a great time, our server was knowledgable and fun, the food was over the top good. We loved our pasta as well as the prime rib special. Going back soon.
Pork belly app was tough, my tagliatelle with truffles was horrible; bland, zero flavor, no taste of truffles whatsoever. Drinks were good, service was good.
North continues to be one of the best restaurants in New York. The staff is accommodating and the food is beyond delicious. We cant wait to return! It was THAT good!
Fun place to go. We got a little stir crazy in this cold weather, and we tried this out. We ordered a lot of things to share, and it was a real hit with us, everything was fresh and flavorful. Would be fun to go with more than the two of us. Waiters were exceptionally nice and the place is pretty... it wasn't crowded so we sat on main floor. Definitely worth the experience.
Love this place but lacks consistency with food & service.
Enjoyed a lovely Sunday brunch for my birthday. Attentive staff nice atmosphere
definitely our favorite local place - staff is very friendly and attentive
Great food and service staff were nice, fun, attentive and well informed.
Limited menu of pretentious unappealing items. Servers had no idea how to describe the preparation of any of the menu items. We had to ask if there were specials and our server said “I think there might be a dish special tonight”. Upstairs dining room is devoid of charm, like being in a Marriott Conference room. Very expensive for completely mediocre food and comically poor service.
Restaurant North is great...new chef and menu offer options from lighter food to hearty fare, extremely fresh and locally sourced, all paired with that special North ingredient of making you feel like you are in a place where food is prepared and served with care and delight!
We had a great meal, the food was spectacular. We loved the soup and the tuna appetizer. The Sommlier was helpful and selected a really great bottle of wine for us, thank you Danny! We will be back soon
As a business leader I took my out of town crew from the West Coast here. The Chef changed a few months ago as I had dinner here before and it was great. Service was attentive and friendly, menu is small, something I generally like. The problem was that we a) waited almost an hour for our entrees after the starters were long consumed and then the food was served basically cold. We returned it and even the second try was at best lukewarm. The service team tried to please us which wasn't easy by that time. The plates were chilled, very odd and with that performance that night, I can't recommend the place. Nonetheless the food itself wasn't bad, but I can't eat cold fish or cold steak.
I'd always thought of North as a bit pricey, but ultimately worth it for its local ingredients and clever chef's creations. Also worth abiding the (very) high noise level - a step or two beyond "casual." My dinner this time had good flavors and good local ingredients, but the list of choices did a bit less for me than in the past. Beef was ordered medium-rare but came out medium well (and kind of gummy). That dish overall was at best ordinary. Cauliflower soup was very nice - lots going on, creamy and very flavorful. Scallops were tasty and prepared well, but cubed root vegetable underneath them was unremarkable.
I'll eventually be back and give the place another chance since several prior meals were strong, but at this price point ($110 for two incl. tax and tip, with no alcoholic drinks) there is a lot of competition in the area.
North has become our favorite local spot. We've loved going to North in the past but thought since they reopened and brought on a new chef, there is just something different about North that we love, it has upcoming back during the week often. Kudos North Team, keep up the great work, you will see us again.
