Limited menu of pretentious unappealing items. Servers had no idea how to describe the preparation of any of the menu items. We had to ask if there were specials and our server said “I think there might be a dish special tonight”. Upstairs dining room is devoid of charm, like being in a Marriott Conference room. Very expensive for completely mediocre food and comically poor service.
Restaurant North is great...new chef and menu offer options from lighter food to hearty fare, extremely fresh and locally sourced, all paired with that special North ingredient of making you feel like you are in a place where food is prepared and served with care and delight!
I'd always thought of North as a bit pricey, but ultimately worth it for its local ingredients and clever chef's creations. Also worth abiding the (very) high noise level - a step or two beyond "casual." My dinner this time had good flavors and good local ingredients, but the list of choices did a bit less for me than in the past. Beef was ordered medium-rare but came out medium well (and kind of gummy). That dish overall was at best ordinary. Cauliflower soup was very nice - lots going on, creamy and very flavorful. Scallops were tasty and prepared well, but cubed root vegetable underneath them was unremarkable.
I'll eventually be back and give the place another chance since several prior meals were strong, but at this price point ($110 for two incl. tax and tip, with no alcoholic drinks) there is a lot of competition in the area.
North has become our favorite local spot. We've loved going to North in the past but thought since they reopened and brought on a new chef, there is just something different about North that we love, it has upcoming back during the week often. Kudos North Team, keep up the great work, you will see us again.
We had an early dinner at Restaurant North after having eaten and enjoyed a meal there the night before. The wait staff are truly excellent and the food is delicious. In the past we have always ordered meat and fish entrees but tonight we went with burgers and pasta, and it was just as much of a treat. In fact, my husband said the pasta he ordered was the best he’s ever had. I mentioned above that the waitstaff are great but I want to say it again because they are another key to the dining experience.
I keep hoping that they will get their act together. It takes forever to get drinks, food, or any type of service. Obviously the staff is not well trained or disciplined as a restaurant that charges these prices should be. The food was fine.....but nothing that you would recommend.
This is my last trip there. Too many better choices that are run like a restaurant should be.
We dined at north the other evening with another couple and had a great meal, food was great and service very friendly. We ordered the Ribeye special, it was really creative that the steak sizes were different so we could choose one that was big enough to share. The steak was cooked perfectly and it came with a bunch of sides so although it was a little pricey, it was so worth it! The sundae for sundae for dessert was just awesome! We are going back next week!
We went to north recently not having been there since the new chef took over and we were blown away. The restaurant looks even better then it had in the past and the vibe was great. The service was top notch as always, our server was unpretentious even when we told her of our dietary restrictions, my wife tries to eat super healthy. The chef John was very accommodating to our request and even stopped by the table to make sure that my wife was we feeling great about her meal, it was a very nice touch. I loved the crude and the steak and had a great glass of wine to pair with both. We can't wait to run back, it was just a really great experience from the service to the food. Oh yea, the sundae for dessert was a show stopper, so good.
WENT TO NORTH WITH MY WIFE FOR A NIGHT OUT AND CAN'T STOP TALKING ABOUT THE MEAL WE HAD TO OUR FRIENDS. WE STARTED WITH THE FRIED HEN OF THE WOOD MUSHROOM AND THE SWEET POTATO AGNOLOTTI AND BOTH WERE AMAZING. OUR SERVER, JOHN, MADE GREAT SUGGESTIONS THROUGHOUT THE MEAL AND DANNY, THE BEVERAGE MANAGER, PICKED OUT GREAT WINES TO PAIR WITH OUR DISHES. FOR ENTREES MY WIFE AND I HAD THE SCALLOPS AND THE HAPPY VALLEY BEEF, ONE BETTER THEN THE OTHER. THE NEW CHEF SEEMS TO HAVE REALLY SETTLED IN BECAUSE OUR MEAL WAS OUTSTANDING. WE ENDED WITH THE PUMPKIN CHURROS AND THE SUNDAE, PROBABLY THE TWO BEST DESSERTS WE EVER HAD. WE ARE REALLY EXCITED TO SEE THAT NORTH IS BACK...
very disappointing, was looking forward to see what the new chef could do, maybe it was his night off, the cacio e pepe was more like corn chowder w under cooked linguine, the expensive fish dish was barely a meal, and the 4 breadsticks they put on the table was a joke. no plan to go back
We used to love North. They always had great homemade gluten free bread, an awesome gluten free pasta and the best homemade french fries. I don't always eat gluten free, but it was nice to have the option. With the new chef, the menu was very very limited. I wouldn't have even gone, but they don't post their menu on their website, which i also find annoying. While I loved the fun music they were playing, it was really loud. Couldn't really talk to our friends without yelling. Still love the atmosphere despite that. Just wish they could get the menu right. Didn't like our apps at all. Lastly, it took them really long to take our order. We sat at 7:30 and didn't get our food until 9:30.
Excellent atmosphere. Great for special occasion or intimate dinner. The only caveat is that the portions are small but the prices are large. If the portions were a bit larger, it would coincide with the prices and the ratio would be equal. I had the Shook Farm Pork . The highlight of the evening was the sundae on their menu; EXCELLENT ALMOND JOY ICE CREAM WITH MOIST CHOCOLATE CAKE intertwined in a glass.

The new chef needs to embrace some of the old and add to it. The portions are now skimpy and not worth it. Until changes are made I won't be back. no muffins and put the cookie back on the menu.
We had high hopes but were initially turned off by the noise level.
My husband had to hunt for the duck confit - it was sent back for some - still added like bacon bits - not as a duck confit was expected to be served as the main attraction. We buy our meat pasture raised at local farms and cook sous vide ourselves, we found the pork and beef were not the most flavorful; a sous vide and exciting preparation wasn't gonna do much for it. The menu had minimal explanation - a cocky move, "we've got this" and then no wow factor. Food was a B. No offer of a glass of wine for sitting at date night w one app and one waiting for a plate to return.
Saw on Instagram the arrival of New Executive Chef and decided to grab dinner with a buddy of mine. Food was outstanding and service was just as amazing. The restaurant had great energy from the moment we walked in. Can’t wait to go back
We are still thanking goodness that North has reopened. First weekend with the new chef, and other than the changes to the menu you could not tell it was the first weekend. No hiccups and still one of the best restaurants in Westchester! As usual, Danny came through with great options from the wine list. Squash appetizer took an often-mundane dish to an entirely new level. Both entrees were home runs.
I have never been happier to drive more than an hour to dine out. Our experience at Restaurant North was nothing short of spectacular. The young hostess who greeted us upon our arrival was graciously accommodating, and the stellar service continued to progress from there. Our server, Louis, was very informative and attentive. I had the salmon while my husband had the duck, and both entrees were delicious. The sommelier paired our wines perfectly with our meals to top off the evening, and I enjoyed the most interesting and tasty cocktail - pea mojito. We are definitely happy to make the long trip back to North sooner rather than later.
The music was deafening and we could barely hear the table conversation. Perhaps it was to drown out the screaming in the kitchen since they must have been having problems back there. Both courses took far too long to come out. To tide us over, they offered up a basket of fried chicken (prepared for guests who couldn't take it anymore and bailed). An attempt at a hospitable gesture, but missed its mark. Reduction of the bill would have been more appreciated and appropriate.

1..feel that they should leave your bottle of wine on table versus taking it away and hiding it :)
2..If they are going to serve marrow its gotta get heated properly or its like coolish jello

We chose Restaurant North to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was wonderful with a relaxed and beautiful atmosphere. The bar tender and waitstaff were knowledgeable and friendly. As our table wasn't ready when we arrived we sat at the marble bar. The bar tender helped us select a delicious bottle of wine and really asked us questions to make a good recommendation that we would truly enjoy. After being seated the wait staff asked about allergies right away. I have a dairy allergy for which they made accommodations. The dinner was excellent. My husband had the cape code mussels with green beans and potatoes in norther spices. I had the duck two ways with a substitute of green pea puree as the polenta had dairy in it. They gave us cookies to take with us and even made a special dairy free cookie for me to take home. It was a wonderful way to end the meal.
I had gone in October when a new chef had just started . It was below par, in comparison to my other times dining there. There was a vast improvement this June visit. The food was very good. Only complaints were the disco 80's music playing so loud,conversation was difficult and the folded white paper menu that looked like a child made it. I had tuna carpaccio to start,scallops for main and banana fosters for dessert. All were very good.
The decor is clean and sophisticated. The kind of place you would find in the Hamptons of Long Island. Farm to table selections are created with distinctive flavor profiles. Having the names of the farms of where they were purchased listed on the menu is always a nice addition. My wife and I each had the leg of lamb with couscous. It was delicious! Portion size was adequate and the flavor of each component delicious. For dessert I enjoyed the fresh fruit sorbet and my wife had the cake with strawberries and rhubarb compote. Whenever we are in the area we include North as our go-to restaurant.
It didn't quite deliver this time, very off indeed. We've come here on different occasions and enjoyed the food and service. The one salad came out with aggressive salt seasoning, we had to send it back and the kale salad was unimaginative. Three of us ordered soft shell crabs which came heavily breaded, served over chewy asparagus...uninspired. Worst was dessert, ricotta cheesecake was inedible and the panna cotta was Jello like. Not quite a total disaster since we enjoyed the 2 pasta dishes, one with chicken sausage and the other with pig's ears. Cocktails were wonderful.
