My only suggestion would be to make the room a more comfortable temperature it was a few degrees to cold.

My friend and I were really looking forward to this dining experience .However we were very disappointed. I frequent the city and I've traveled the world dining and this place is very overrated. I know there are people who rave about this place-but if you work hard for your money and really and truly understand a fine dining establishment- then read this review! We decided on the tasting menu with the reserve wine pairing. Was a 6 course tasting menu. It was $600 for two people which is very pricey in New Jersey. Sadly the food and its presentation were unremarkable and mediocre and 2 of the 6 courses which were the fish and the lamb were cold. Some of the wine was good and some wine was not appropriate for the dishes- and wow they made sure to give only 2 oz of wine per course- not a drop more! I have to say the service was very gracious as there were hard-working bus boys and girls and our waiter Koba was fantastic. The venue was half empty on a Saturday at 9 p.m. and I found it very curious Mister Nicholas did not personally visit our table and apologize for the poor execution of our fish and the lamb dishes which were the two main courses. He was there present all evening but was busy hanging out in the bar with his frequent customers. My friend and I looked at each other when we paid the bill and said "we're never coming back." There are much better restaurants in the area, with owners that take an interest in acquiring new clientele- not just their regulars. I know there are places like this that have been around for years- what I call Fat Cats -but thankfully there are more updated local restaurants that have revolutionized the dining experience in New Jersey. Incidentally after spending $300 each and 1/3 of our dinner was cold- they charged me for my cappuccino which is insanely obnoxious.... just simply greedy and shameful.
When it comes time to review Nicholas - I'm going to kind of skewer them, not on food - it was just the right amount of rich. But when I made the reservation, I said one of the diners was gluten-intolerant. In that case the palate cleanser should have NEVER come out with the graham cracker crumble. I tried to eat around it, but a few crumbles stuck to the yogurt and I woke up the next morning with a splitting headache. And the whole fiasco with the Chef's Table.....they took my credit card only to contact me minutes later saying it was already booked. Just a brief acknowledgement/apology when we dined would have done wonders.
Our meal at Nicholas was spectacular! We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. From start to finish the food was perfect. My husband had the veal chop and I had red snapper. Our appetizers were scallops and marinated fluke. Desserts were chocolate and delicious.
Servers are polite, professional and friendly.

Nicholas always delvers an incredible dining experience. We enjoyed the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings from the Nicholas Cellars. Everything was fantastic. Our guests enjoyed their first time at Nicholas immensely!

We go to Nicholas for special occasions. The food is always great and innovative and changes for the seasons. Great wine list and excellent service. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the owner comes around and chats. The three course menu is ample.

Once again we had an absolutely fabulous meal from Nicholas. We had the tasting menu this time, and as always each course was perfectly prepared. I had Nicholas’ wine pairings, which are always right on the mark and a pretty good value when all is said and done. It’s fantastic that there’s always a creative soufflé to end the meal! We’ve been coming here for over 10 years, and we look forward to continuing for years to come!

I always have a fabulous meal at Restaurant Nicholas and tonight was no exception. I had a new spaccatelli pasta with braised oxtail appetizer which was amazing, followed by their new Guinness short rib - amazing. My stomach was smiling.

The food was excellent but not worth the money.
We had a terrible New Year's eve experience. After we were seated at the table we asked for a glass of Rose and was told they were out of it. The appetizer was Pappadelle with a mushroom ragu. The noodles were too aldente and should have been much softer. After the waiter asked if we had any dietary restrictions, I told him to limit the salt. We both ordered as our entree filet mignon. The amount of salt that was used was over the top as the meat was marinated in soy sauce. The waiter made no attempt to let us know that the meat would be very salty. I sent it back immediately. Meanwhile, Alan had to eat his meat by himself which really ruined our dinner. By the time the waiter came back he informed me that the chef could not remedy the situation with the very oversalted meat and I would have to choose something else. This time I chose Lamb which was a bit gamey and nothing to write home about. Dessert was a conglomeration of four different items which mainly consisted of ice cream and cake. It was terribly sweet. We couldn't wait to leave. Also the cost of this poor meal was prohibitive. We are done with the overhyped and overrated Nicholas.
What can I say; Nicholas is an outstanding restaurant for special occasions. The food is superb, the service is sooo attentive. I give this restaurant my highest recommendation

We've eaten here three times and, heading in, this was the least excited we were about the menu of the night. Tonight was the best experience we've had at Nicholas.
Thirteen different plates and not a single miss. Absolutely brilliant.
The soups here are masterful. I don't like mushroom soup and it was the best thing I ate tonight. The highlight of my last visit was the roasted tomato soup; I don't care for tomato soup. I'm sensing a pattern here.
The venison was lovely. The scallop dish was surprising and wonderful. Their riffs on ethnic cuisines (notably a Japanese golden tilefish dish) are inspired. The desserts are delicate and glorious.
Next time I eat at Nicholas I'm not even going to bother looking at the menu.

One of the best lobsters I've had. Tasted really fresh. Had the lobster kimchi ramen appetizer and butter poached lobster risotto. Service was wonderful.

Nicholas is firing on all cylinders. The food is so fresh and tastes clean (with emphasis on natural ingredients). Food is not overly sauced or seasoned. We had three different seafood entrees, Cobia, Black Sea Bass, and Butter Braised Lobster. All superb. I felt the pricing was reasonable for the high quality food and service.
Nicolas is a perennial winner. The food and service are exceptional. I have not had a bad meal there. I especially enjoy their special menus, like the truffle menu with black truffles being featured in each course.
Extremely disappointed in the experience probably because our expectations were so high based upon all of the great reviews. Nothing about Nicholas was outstanding. The food was a letdown, portions very small, service was good but certainly not notable and our check including a 20% tip totaled $340 for two of us. Certainly not something I would ever recommend to anyone.
Overall the food was good, but service was not what you would expect. DO Not Do the Cellar Selection.!! The wine pours are short, never offer any additional, and they are not worth the additional money. Very cold atmosphere, not a warm comfortable place to eat.
